  Chapter 16: Daniel

  My head hurts.

Why does it hurt? Did I hit it yesterday? Actually, I can’t even remember yesterday. Why?

I sat up, expecting little Lumen to assault me again.

Instead, I woke up in an unknown room.

Where the hell am I? Is this a dream?

I tried to slap myself on the face, but my hands were tied, zip-ties cutting into my wrist.

  Holy shit.

  Is this real?

  I scanned the room.

Four walls. Plain gray concrete. One door. Solid metal. Reinforced at that. There’s no handle. Must be locked from the outside. FUCK. Not again…

Twenty-four students. I counted twice. Everyone from the bus. We were lined up neatly in rows of 5, wrists tied to the back of our chairs.

Fidus was next to me, slumped back in his chair.

There were other people I recognized, like that bitch Regina and her friends.

That Vira girl is also there, right in front of me.

Seems like I was the first one up.

In this room were two guards. Both were armed with submachine guns. These guys are professional.

One by one, I watched as the other students woke. Some totally freaking out. Regina, of course. Others just stared into the abyss with soulless blank expressions.

“WHERE THE FUCK AM I?” Exclaimed Regina.

Good god, when will she shut up?

As Regina was wailing, a guard came up to her.

“DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM? GET ME OUT OF-“

  SLAP

He slapped Regina across the face. It wasn’t a soft one either.

Everyone went silent. Good. They learn fast. The guards don't negotiate. Don't warn. Just act.

  “WHAT THE FUC-“

  SLAP

Maybe they don’t learn that fast. When will that bitch learn to shut the fuck up?

“Speak again and I’ll break your jaw.” Said the guard before walking to where he was originally.

Tears had formed over Regina’s eyes

As that was happening, that Vira girl woke up. She seemed confused before a look of horror spread across her face.

She scanned the room before looking at me. We held eye contact for about 2 seconds.

Why did she stare at me? Maybe she didn’t recognize me? That’s weird.

She whipped her head back forward.

  After that, Fidus woke up.

“Yo what the fuck? Where am I?” Said Fidus.

“Shut up” I whispered to him.

  “Wha-Why?” Fidus whispered back.

“Those scary guys with guns are gonna shoot you if you don’t.” I spoke, looking at the two guard standing there.

  “Yo what the fu-“

  “SHHHH”

  “My bad.”

Sometimes Fidus can be a fucking dumbass.

  Chapter 17: Vera

My wrists hurt. I also have a burning headache.

I opened my eyes to gray walls, metal chairs, and a hell lot of students zip-tied to chairs.

  What the-

  The bus. The gas.

  Oh god.

No. This must be a dream. One. Two. THREE.

  Nothing. This is bad.

I look left and right, only to have my stare returned by the numerous students around me.

  They were so quiet. Why?

Regina was in tears. I thought she’d be the person complaining or something.

  I scanned the room again.

Two guards. They have guns. Maybe that’s why everyone is so quiet.

  Then I looked behind me.

  Daniel.

  We made eye contact.

Why does he look so calm?

His expression was just… Daniel. His face looks like it’s just any other day, meanwhile the whole bus was kidnapped.

  How does he do it?

  I whipped my head back

Shit. I’ve been staring at him for too long. I hope he doesn’t think I’m weird

  Just then, Fidus woke up.

“Yo what the fuck? Where am I?” Fidus said.

  “Shut up.” Whispered Daniel

  “Wha-Why?”

“Those scary guys with guns are gonna shoot you if you don’t”

He knows exactly what to say too.

Just who the hell is he?

  CLACK-CHUNKKK

The sound of deadbolts unlocking echoed throughout the room. The heavy metal door didn’t swing open. It groaned a heavy SKEEEEE across the floor, similar to the sounds of forks on a chalkboard. It hurt my ears, and everyone else’s also.

Everyone had looked away from the light spilling in from outside.

In walked a fat, greasy, chubby guy who looked like an oversized thumb.

  This is bad. Really bad.
