The man draws his sword as he walks right into the entrance, to climb this resetting tower.
- Ten Years Later…
The tower was visible on the horizon, with the dark clouds surrounding it. Other dungeons were usually the job of the Adventurer’s Guild, of which Bariton worked for. This dungeon is beyond just that.
Judine knew they sent a few master swordsmen from all around the Kingdom of Light towards this Tower 10 years ago, and not a single one has returned. Judine feared that they alone weren’t even enough.
Clara and Pallad had both been merely working for the Church of the Sun, so they knew at least every title this tower had, and held the same fears as Judine.
But Sornid was overly confident, upon the other side of the scale. He knew probably the most of it, and even knew the exact way their stats compared to the Tower’s recommendations, and yet he kept this to himself.
The journey was boring, mostly just them walking along the path thousands of others had long before the Tower was even a thing. It used to be the greatest trade route, previously used by quite literally every single village to the south to get to the capital.
Bariton was grateful for the free ride, since usually he’s a guard for a caravan or has to walk to locations. Clara and Pallad were also grateful, despite being used to the treatment. Judine had expected it, but at least acted although they were to the coaches, due to their Just nature.
The only one to act disrespectful was Sornid, which everyone sort of expected, but it’s besides the point. The tower stood taller than any mountain peak, and the top was obscured by pitch black clouds, with blood red thunder.
They all reached it, Pallad in front of the team. Sornid was in the back along with Clara, with Bariton and Judine being in the center. It was a well balanced team, supposedly chosen by the Heavens, but this Tower had absolutely no care in the world of this fact.

The first floor was quite boring, being a simple dungeon with the usual goblins. This was a great confidence boost for these five, proving that the fear of this tower was truly pointless. The floor boss itself wasn’t much of a threat, being but a young dragon.
Sornid now decided that it would be intelligent to bring up, “Remember to keep your guard up my men! We will be facing all kinds of foes in this tower. This is only the first floor!”
Judine tagged in, “Agreed, just because we hold Legendary gear, doesn’t mean this will be an effortless ordeal.”
Bariton spoke up, “And even if it were to be effortless, the future of our people all rely on us. This is beyond just a simple battle of a war. If we fail here, the entirety of Reloxica will fall, the armies holding no candle to this Tower if the dungeon were to spread.”
Pallad responded, “You say it as if it’s obvious! We are to only trust you with that phrasing due to your Legendary item granting Prophecies!”
The loot of this floor was simple, not even being a Legendary item. It was just a simple token, to talk to someone far off. If engraved with a symbol, this Rare magic item would allow the user to fully communicate with the person engraved with the symbol.
Upon putting their ear up to it, Clara throws it at the wall, “It’s but a demon’s speaking! We should destroy it or just leave it here to rot!”
“Wait, I think I know most demonic languages…” Bariton approaches the token, not even harmed. He listens at the whisperings, and laughs.
“Oh, Clara, this is but in Draconic! It talks as if it knows Common, but is just inable to speak it.”
“The whispers are as follows, ‘The Tower breathes, The Tower lives, As time passes on life falters, and yet you try to fight against fate.’ Pretty simple stuff, it just repeats that constantly.” Bariton shrugs as he finishes translating, but Clara looks at the token with the gaze she’d pass upon a criminal proven to be guilty by the Church of Light.
The heroes see a nice blue portal, the same color as the system open up in front of them. A little message pops up to them, stating that the tower is watching, and the tower awaits their ascent to the top.
This simplistic message gives them the courage to go onwards.
