Colin tried to keep a lid on his anger, but he was losing the battle.
Inside of Chuck’s pocket, he was helpless inside of his chrysalis form. When Chuck attacked Kristy, there was nothing Colin could do but watch.
It made it so much worse that Colin finally remembered everything. He was Kristy’s husband. And the psychopath he was in the pocket of, was the man that did all of this to him and his family. That was infuriating.
All Colin wanted was to break out of his chrysalis and help Kristy, but he was unable to stop his own chrysalis stage early. It wasn’t done developing him.
The rage bubbled higher as Chuck took them underground somewhere.
Colin tried to focus on what he would do after he was free from the chrysalis stage; Likely kill Chuck and save Kristy. He looked within himself and the pulses for the bloodhound, snake and the alligator were accessible now. That proved his theory that the chrysalis stage not only made him smarter, but allowed him to access the transformations he recently fed on.
Thinking about it, Colin not only remembered, but he felt smarter. It was like a veil was lifted from his thoughts and he could see so much clearer. He felt like he may be as smart as Jenny now, but he wasn’t back to his original self yet. He was close, but not quite there.
For all his newfound intelligence and transformations though, it did nothing right now to help Kristy. What if she was killed while Colin could do nothing but watch?

As Chuck dragged Kristy through the halls, Colin felt a life pulse somewhere to his right that he recognized.
It was Jenny!
Jenny was down here and they found her. Colin cheered internally, but his mood boiled quickly back to rage as he realized that meant Chuck had kidnapped Jenny too.
“This is your new room for the future,” Chuck said to the unconscious Kristy as he laid her on a bed, then walked away.
Colin fought uselessly from within Chuck’s pocket to stay with Kristy, but there was nothing he could do.
Chuck kept walking, taking Colin further from Kristy with each step.
Every step that took him further from his family pushed Colin’s rage to new heights.
Kill.
The instinct from within pulsed in rhythm with Colin’s rage.
KILL
Colin wanted to dive into the instinct and feed all of his rage to it, but there was a small part of him that desperately fought to hold back the anger. That small part was losing, but it refused to let go as it supplied a simple thought:
What would happen to his family if he lost control and attacked them? He remembered almost killing his own daughter when he was more instinct than human and it made him sick to his non-existent stomach.
Chuck finally took Colin out of his pocket and set him down somewhere cold and lifeless.
Chuck stroked the chrysalis in a way that sickened Colin while he spoke, “This is your new home for now. Good luck with the next stage. I have so many hopes for you so don’t let me down.”
With that, Chuck left the room and sealed it shut behind him. His life pulse headed toward the edge of Chuck’s senses until it faded away and he could feel nothing living nearby.
Colin was alone. For the first time in days, he remembered who he was, he was so close to his family, but still he couldn’t feel a speck of life nearby. He was isolated in a dark void.
Alone, inside of his chrysalis, Colin thought of what he would do to the man who did this to him and his family.
