Chapter 44: Ruins (6)

Back in the Eastern Temple Ruins.

Whoosh! A skeleton got flung out from the darkness like a ragdoll and a beastman pounced out right after, smashing another skelee to the floor!

“Shoot me?! I’ll see how you shoot me after I dismantle all of you!”

Riding on top of the bone monster, the muscular beast ravenously clawed at the bag of bones and snapped off bones like they were chopstick!

Suddenly, bestial instincts roared and the beastman quickly rolled aside, just in time to evade the arrow from the dark!

A glance in that direction marked the archer skeleton that he hunted down at the start...

Another look back at the dismantled mess and Park Insu saw the bones nearby was already magically tumbling back together to fuse back like they were never broken!

“Madaraka! These things are endless! They just won’t die no matter how hard I smash em’!”

Hearing that angry growl, the sweating Kwan Minhwoo, who felt like he can’t hold on for much longer, can’t help but call out.

“Mr. Park! Don’t go off alone! Only by working together can we have a chance of solving these undead!”

Baldie Tae cursed, “Say less bullshit, four-eyes! If you can’t tell me anything useful right now, then I’m out!”

Kwan Minhwoo gasped heavily but his agile mind quickly came up with a rhetoric.

“According to most fantasy setting, any undead legion must have a power behind their rebirth. But it’s impossible for me to determine the location of their source without enough intel!”

“Our only choice currently is to lead them outside and see if the sun will do the trick!”

“Damn four-eyes! Quit giving me all that high-sounding bullshit excuses! If you got no ideas and want to run for it, just say so! Go!”

After yelling that, Baldie Tae was ready to abandon post!

But he barely took several steps when he saw the treasure-looting trio filing up the underground stairs.

“Damn! Took your asses long enough!”

“Un?!” Lackey B stared at the chaos and almost peed his pants when he saw the skeleton monsters. “B-Boss! W-What’s happening?”

“Excuse me. Out of the way please, ohoho.” Kim Sungho shoved the road block aside and hurried over to stick behind his bald buddy.

“Brother Tae, cover me for a sec.”

Seeing his brains pull out an ancient-looking tome from heaven knows where, Baldie Tae didn’t ask questions.

You could be reading stolen content. Head to the original site for the genuine story.

He simply picked up an incoming skelee, lifted it overhead, and tossed it out to knock down an archer!

“Quick! Take down those bullshit archers unless you want to get shot all over while running! Those who can fight, cover our retreat!”

Han Duri didn’t need to be asked twice and went up to kick back a skeleton. “Tch. I didn’t get paid enough for this!”

Lackey B also quickly went to support his boss who was already many steps ahead of the rest.

“Recorded!” Kim Sungho snapped his tome shut and it faded away. “Go! Go! Go!”

Getting the command, Baldie Tae quickly shifted gears and rammed his way forward with his pot-bellied buddy waddling behind.

Han Duri didn’t hesitate to follow them, but he still loudly reminded, “Insu! Don’t drag your feet! We’re all leaving! Let’s go!”

“Madaraka!” Park Insu cursed and used the headless skelee in hand to bat away the crowd of skelees coming from the stairwell then threw it towards the last archer!

He didn’t bother seeing if that hit or not and made a break for it!

He cut right across the pyramid’s atrium and arrived at the exit even sooner than the others fleeing under the cover of the pillars!

The bright sun outside almost blinded him, but he still galloped forward!

Behind, the rest rushed out and everybody kept running away until they were far, far away from the pyramid.

Gasping breathlessly, everybody regrouped and stared back at the entrance to the ruins. There, the skeleton archers and warriors didn’t even dare get close to the sunlit entrance.

After putting on his glasses, Kwan Minhwoo offhandedly spoke his observation. “Looks like they don’t dare come out. We’re safe.”

Hearing the obvious, everybody else rolled their eyes.

After taking a breather, the three fighters finally turned to the three looters.

Four-eyes gave his lackey that staredown of intimidation while the other two were more straightforward.

Baldie Tae: “Oi, bozo! You three couldn’t be any faster?”

Park Insu: “Yuh! Duri, did you take a dump down there?”

Han Duri shrugged like it wasn’t his problem. “You two tell them.”

Kim Sungho wiped the sweat from his forehead and sheepishly laughed. “Ohoho. You can’t blame us. It was pitch-black dark down there, and the layout is completely different from the game...”

Lackey B: “Uhuh! Uhuh! We didn’t want to trigger anything on accident.”

Park Insu: “Forget it! Who cares about all your dumb excuses. Just show us—what did you get down there?”

The trio of looters exchanged a glance and started laying out their loot.

  Bones, rotten flesh, spider’s eye, a string…

Nothing good showed up. Every item taken out made the rest more gloomy and when the looters showed their empty hands, things got aggressive.

“Madaraka! Are you trying to fool us with all this trash?! Where’s the gold and diamond you talked about?!”

Seeing Lackey B bowing his head like an ostrich and Han Duri trying to find clouds in the skies, Kim Sungho could only bite the bullet and speak up: “Mr. Park, getting those depends on luck, so…”

“Bah! Fatso, don’t gimme that nonsense! I worked so hard and if this is all I’m getting, don’t blame me for being impolite!”

Just when Park Insu was about to make an example out of the fatso, Baldie Tae blocked his way aggressively. “Aueegh?! What you trying to do?”

“Scram out of my way, baldie, or don’t blame me for ripping that skull off!”

“Bullshit! I’ll like to see you try!”

“Madaraka! I’ve been wanting to sock that ugly face of yours for a long time!”

Seeing the two beefy man at loggerhead with each other, Kwan Minhwoo felt happy inside but in order to preserve the team, he still stepped in to break them up.

“Wait, wait, there’s no need to get so aggressive. We still haven’t figured out the situation. I’m sure there is a misunderstanding somewhere…”

“Madaraka! What misunderstanding can there be?! I bet somebody just wants to hoard all the good stuff!”

“Bullshit! Who are you trying to accuse? Don’t make things up just because you can!”

“Baldie, do you really think I’m making things up?!”

There was no good response to that because… Baldie Tae believe his old buddy could really do such a thing!

Besides, all of them think the other teams are doing the same thing and might even be pocketing the bigger share!

This sort of mutual suspicion was unsolvable!
