Around 11 PM…Inside Aniket’s room…
The room was completely dark.
The only source of light was the glow from his laptop screen.
Aniket’s eyes were glued to the screen. His gaze moved slowly from top to bottom, lips parting slightly in reaction.
He was reading something—completely immersed in it. But the moment he scrolled down, he flinched in horror and shouted as he leaned back.
His chair slid away, and he fell to the floor.
Luckily, he landed on the soft rug, so he wasn’t injured. But his heartbeat was racing wildly.
Making a disgusted face, he muttered, “That’s brutal… so disturbing!”
On it was a photo of a corpse. Or more accurately— a body torn to shreds.
It was part of a classified government report, one that Aniket had illegally downloaded by hacking into a restricted database.
According to the report, the corpse belonged to none other than the Head of Police – Mr. Aasim Khan.
Aasim Khan had died at the age of 40.
A name decorated with several titles. A man the world admired.
To the public, a perfect gentleman.
But his personal life? Far from perfect.
He was an orphan by the time he turned twenty.
He had a wife who committed suicide by setting herself on fire.
At the time of his death, their daughter was only 10 years old. Afterward, the child was sent to an orphanage and was adopted just a month later.
There was nothing “mysterious” about Aasim Khan’s death—at least officially.
But certain details were disturbing—details that wouldn't stop nagging Aniket’s mind.
He had died after an attack by an American bulldog.
While recovering in a hospital following a fall down the stairs, he had been ripped apart in his hospital bed.
Aniket exhaled slowly, unease tightening in his chest as he stared at the images.
He shut the laptop and sat on his bed—then collapsed flat onto it.
Staring at the ceiling, his thoughts drifted to the night before…
Saaniya’s drunk confession.
The one where she’d said she killed her own father.
Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
But the documents were telling a different story.
Yes… Aasim Khan was Saaniya’s father.
Aniket closed his eyes and murmured to himself, “Did she lie to me? No… how could she?
She was crying… broken. You don’t fake something like that in a drunken breakdown.”
He stood up and looked at his laptop again. “She said her father pushed her mother to death… But the documents…
That man looks like the ideal, respectable family man.
Then again… isn’t that how it always is?
The ones who seem perfect in public…
Are the real monsters in the dark.
But still… His death. It was strange.
Too quick… too clean… and the case got closed way too easily.”
Frustrated, Aniket ran his hands through his hair and muttered, “Ughhh… None of this makes sense!
Why are you like this, Saaniya?!
Just when I think I’m finally beginning to understand you… You leave me more confused than ever!”
His gaze wandered to the mirror.
And in his reflection… He saw the memory of Saaniya’s tear-filled eyes.
“If this is haunting me this much,” he whispered, “then I can’t even imagine how much it has scared you… But enough now.
I’ll uncover everything from your past—every last secret. So I can help you.”
He looked back at the laptop again.
“I still have to find out about that demon you spoke of… And that angel who saved you.
Maybe that demon is the one who adopted you.
But how is it possible that someone like that has no trace in any government record?
Who… exactly is that person?”
While Aniket is restlessly searching for the truth— That very person is haunting Saaniya… in her dreams.
In Saaniya’s nightmare…
She’s ten years old.
Standing in the middle of an empty hospital ward.
Clutching a knife.
There isn’t a single drop of blood on the knife… But her eyes—her eyes are drenched in bloodlust.
Her father lies sleeping on the hospital bed in front of her.
Suddenly, a woman’s eerie laughter echoes behind her.
Saaniya turns around— and the entire place is consumed by darkness.
From the shadows…a woman appears.
A strange, haunting smile painted on her pale pink lips. Almost… psychotic.
Reaching her hand toward Saaniya, the woman says, “You’re a soft-hearted little girl, aren’t you?”
Saaniya, trembling, replies, “I’m not!
I came here to kill my father… Because he took my mother away from me! I am becoming a monster can't you see?!”
The woman lets out a manic laugh and says, “Revenge…! A little girl wants revenge!!”
Then, with a sudden shift to a deadly serious tone, she leans closer and whispers, “I like you. I like monsters!
But why offer your father such an easy death? Real monsters don’t settle for something quick.
Let me teach you what real revenge looks like.”
Saaniya, wide-eyed, whispers, “How do I do that…? Teach me!”
The woman steps closer.
“Monster’s revenge isn’t complete… Until blood and screams are released together.
Until you crush the will to live beneath your feet.”
She extends her hand slowly. “Take my hand… and I’ll teach you.
But remember—this is a deal.
Once you take my hand… your soul will belong to me.”
Her hands are dripping with blood.
Saaniya’s small hands—soft and floral—tremble in the darkness.
And then…She reaches out.
The moment she touches the woman’s hand— Saaniya jolts awake.
Breathing heavily. Eyes wide with fear… and regret.
Her hands are trembling. And when she looks down at them, she sees blood stains…
…though in reality, they aren’t there.
She wants to scream. She wants to cry. But she can’t.
Because Ruhi is sleeping beside her.
And after so long, she’d finally found peace in her sleep.
Saaniya doesn’t want to wake her.
She gets up and walks out. Steps onto the balcony.
And there—she finds Anamika already standing under the moonlight.
Seeing her there… something inside Saaniya softens.
Where the woman in her dream stood beneath red, demonic light… Anamika stood in moonlight, smiling.
That one smile turned all of Saaniya’s fear… into warmth and strength.
She rushed toward her and hugged her tightly.
Anamika, startled for a moment, said nothing.
She simply placed her hand on Saaniya’s head and gently caressed it.
Saaniya whispered, “Anu… it was a horrible dream.
But… I’m glad it was just a dream.
We’ve left that nightmare behind.”
Anamika held Saaniya’s trembling hand and replied, “Are you scared?
Me too… I’m scared of nightmares.
But as long as we’re together… those nightmares will never become real.”
Saaniya smiled.
Looking up at the sky, she whispered,“The sky looks so beautiful tonight.”
Anamika looked up too and replied, “Yeah…The stars are shining so clearly tonight.”
As Anamika and Saaniya try to move away from their haunted past, Aniket is walking deeper into it— to understand them… and maybe protect them.
