It took a while for their group to calm down.
Ms. Sanderson had left with the large attack force she had organized. They had crossed to the back of the teleportation room this time. Likely to appear in a different location on the 40th floor to surprise the undead.
Even if Hans were a wraith, he wouldn't be able to go against this force.
"Hey, laddie!"
'sigh'
Turning around, a prideful-looking Robby was puffing his chest out. He looked extremely full of himself.
"Oi! What's with the sigh? Your pal Robby here has just completed his current masterpiece! Harharhar! It's wonderful! Come, come and see my work!"
As Damian started to follow the dwarf, he suddenly got lightly kicked in the back of the knee and fell forward.
"! What was that for?" Alex was smirking—the culprit.
"Quit your mopping. Let's see this masterpiece you're about to receive. Hm? What about my sword, though?"
As they approached 'Steven's anvil?', they could see a crowd of crafters gawking at the weapon. As they had seen earlier, it was a saber inlaid with various runes. It was sleek black, a stark contrast to his flame-sword, made of standard steel.
"It looks great, Robby, but why is this your masterpiece? What do the runes do?"
"Who said this is my masterpiece! This is a great weapon! One of the best I've ever forged, but it's no masterpiece!"
"Wha... but I thought..."
The dwarf bent over behind the anvil and pulled out a weapon covered in cloth. It was twice his height, midnight-black, and completely covered in grey runes.
The blade could be considered a dadao saber, but it looked much thicker and more threatening than any he'd ever seen.
At several points on the sides of the blade, there were recesses that looked as if they went to the core of the blade. The cross guard had leather and fur lining at the point where the blade met the hilt. It looked like a weapon a wealthy man would have bought for a barbarian.
"This here is my masterpiece~ It's the most wonderful thing I've brought into this world~ It even allowed me to enter tier 6! Ha!"
The crafters gasped at the statement. "You bloody well did it, you old bastard! Leaving us behind!"
"Give us the scraps this instant! I'll forge a better blade and enter tier 6!"
"You wasted that other sword! You could have let me create my masterpiece! You greedy old bastard!"
"I ain't that old! And I'm no bastard!" Robby hollered back.
"Ooohhh!!! It's amazing, Robby! Gimme Gimme!" Alex moved to claim her new weapon and practically shoved Damian aside to reach it. When he looked at her to make a remark, the words caught in his throat. She seemed too happy to ruin this moment for her. Her joy was practically radiating outward.
'sigh'
Alex picked up the massive blade with one arm and began inspecting it all over. She's always been a powerful woman, but her self-strengthening skill did wonders for her.
"This feels great! Like an extension of my arm~ What do the runes do?"
A case of content theft: this narrative is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.
*cough* *cough* It seemed that even Robby was taken aback by her immense strength.
"If you channel mana into the hilt, you will form earth spikes from those holes. You can then eject them like a spell when you stop the mana flow and swing the blade. The speed of those projectiles will be much faster than if you were to tack a rock on the side and fling it off."
"Oooo! I love it!" She said while grinning madly.
"But clearly there's more to this~ You wouldn't have claimed that this is your masterpiece with only that~."
*cough* *cough* Robby couldn't handle Alex's presence.
"You're a sharp one. Everyone, this is my first double-function weapon!"
"Oooohhh!" "Crazy!!" "What!!" The crafters oo'd and aw'd at the reveal.
"This beauty has an inherent ability I was able to pull forth from the material. The more you hit and take hits with the weapon, the stronger it'll become! When you channel mana into the lower part of the hilt, you can release that power in the form of lightning!"
"I've named my masterpiece Thunder Strike!!"
"Ooooohhh!"
The craftsmen went wild, clapping at the accomplishment. Many were pushing each other aside to get a closer look.
Alex set the dadao down and picked up Robby into a great big hug.
"You're amazing, Robby!" She then placed the man on her shoulder and had the crowd cheer.
"Let's hear it for Robby! Cheer!"
"Ooooohhh Yeeeeaaahhh!!!"
The group was basically soaring through the clouds in cheer. Damian didn't think any of them brought alcohol for the celebration. They were acting as if they had a barrel to drink.
Damian had a slight smirk while watching the spectacle. He zipped through the crowd like a light breeze and picked up his own new blade. It felt perfectly moulded to his hand as if it would be challenging to drop it even if he tried.
So this is what a custom weapon feels like. I don't think I'll be able to go back.
Damian made his way back to his party from the crowd surrounding the cheering Alex and Robby.
"So are you just going to hold that new sword this entire time? It looks awfully sharp." Frey commented.
"I suppose I'll have to or hand it off to Donna. Since the blade is different, I can't use the scabbard for the flame sword."
"You really ought to name your weapons. It's a little lame to keep calling it the 'flame sword' or 'fire sword'. I think I've heard you using both. Although~ You could always get rid of that one, now that you have this."
'sigh'
"You know I've never been good at names. Look at our party name..." Best to leave 'Daffid' unsaid in company.
"Plus, it's not like you're naming your weapons."
"But I did! Meet Flow, the staff."
"Flow?"
"She lets me move my fireballs flowingly through the air. I think it won't be too long until I can start reversing their direction completely~."
Don't comment on the name.
"How does the 'Death Bringer' sound... It's a dark blade and came from the materials of a wraith."
"Psh!!! Hahaha, yeah, you shouldn't name things~."
At least my name is unique! Hers only describes a staff attribute!
"Oi!!! That blade already has a name, laddie." Robby was hollering from atop Alex's shoulder.
"I named her Storm Dancer. Thought that it'd be a good partner for the Wind Walker."
"Psh!!! Hahaha!!!" "Bahahaha!!!" Both Frey and Alex were laughing at Damian's expense. Donna had her hand over her mouth, and Fergus was even cracking a smile.
Despite moving like the wind and being able to flow through the air, he couldn't dance. It wasn't that his dance moves were bad. It was just that he had no rhythm to music. It was like there was a block in his mind that prevented him from going with the musical flow. He'd move fast when the music was slow and vice versa.
'sigh'
Pushing through his party's laughter, he asked, "What does the blade do?"
"Storm Dancer will boost yer wind blades and make them stronger. You should even be able to fling them off the blade with a swing. Although being a kinetic wind type, you probably won't be able to get them to go too far without a lot of practice."
That sounds really good.
"Also! Everybody hear me now! Storm Dancer is also a double-function weapon! That's right, you ingrates! My new skill lets me pull the inherent abilities from materials!"
"Ooooohhhh!!!!" "He's going to become a master craftsman!"
"Whhhhaaaaaa! Robby, Congratulations!!!"
"Storm Dancer, being from the bone of the same beast, has the same function! After dealing and taking hits, it'll charge with lightning and can be discharged in an attack!"
Alex was already back to bouncing the dwarf on her shoulder, raising the crowd's approval. If they had any alcohol, she'd probably have the barrel on her other shoulder.
Damian was also feeling better that his own weapon wasn't chopped liver when compared to Thunder Strike. It just wouldn't be labelled a masterpiece by its creator.
Oh goddesses, Alex will hold this over my head forever...
