Chapter 5: The Weight of Power

[1] Aura That Shakes the World

The moment Victor and Leo faced each other, the world bent.

A crushing aura erupted from both sides—Victor’s like an invisible vice squeezing thought itself, Leo’s like a tidal wave of raw force smashing against everything.

Within seconds, the quad became a graveyard of collapsed students. Bodies dropped like dominoes, groans quickly fading to silence.

Only five still stood—Daniel, Tom, Jackson, Selena, and Sasha.

Daniel’s teeth chattered. "My body’s screaming to bow down… but my legs… won’t move."

Tom laughed nervously. “Oh cool, I always wanted my lungs flattened like pancakes.”

Jackson wheezed, “Speak for yourself—I think my pancreas just resigned.”

Leo’s lips curled into a grin. “Long time no see.”

Victor’s calm reply cut through the pressure. “So you’re finally making your move.”

The ground trembled, but neither man moved an inch.

[2] The Professor Who Stood Still

Sasha stepped forward, heels clicking against the stone, perfectly composed.

Both Leo and Victor glanced at her, faintly surprised.

“…How are you still standing?” Leo asked, genuine curiosity in his tone.

Sasha folded her arms. “Because I don’t let other people’s storms shake my sea.”

  Daniel blinked. “…That’s poetic.”

She smirked. “Psychology. Since childhood, I trained to master my mind—fear, stress, panic. If I can command myself, no aura can break me.”

  Victor’s eyes narrowed. “Interesting.”

  Leo chuckled. “Tch. Bold.”

  And then—time itself froze.

Daniel’s gasp caught in his throat. Birds halted mid-flight, dust hung still in the air, Leo and Victor stood like painted statues.

Sasha’s voice echoed. “I don’t know how to fight with this yet. But… stopping time is enough, isn’t it?”

  And then—time resumed.

  [3] Questions Without Answers

Sasha’s gaze sharpened. “Tell me, both of you. What do you know about this? About humans suddenly unlocking magic?”

Victor and Leo exchanged a glance. For a heartbeat, Daniel swore they remembered something old, something heavy.

Then—both of them said in unison:

“You’ll find it out yourselves, when the time is right.”

Daniel’s jaw dropped. “Oh come on, really? That’s, like, the textbook anime answer!”

Tom jumped forward, eyes sparkling. “Forget that! Please—teach us how to use magic like you!!”

Jackson added, “Yeah, I don’t care if it kills me, I want that level of badassery!”

Victor sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. “Children.”

Leo laughed, voice booming. “I like their guts.”

  [4] A Team Is Born

Selena, still shaky from earlier, straightened her back. Her threads flickered faintly but crumbled under the memory of Leo’s aura.

“…If we’re going to survive Titans,” she said, “we can’t stay scattered pieces. We need to move together.”

Sasha nodded. “A chain is stronger than a lone link.”

Daniel’s crimson eyes glowed faintly. “Then… we fight. Together.”

Victor’s gaze lingered on Daniel for a long second, as if measuring something. Finally, he nodded.

Leo cracked his knuckles, grinning. “Fine. Let’s see where this goes.”

And just like that, in the ruins of a broken quad, the first thread of a new team was tied—Daniel, Tom, Jackson, Selena, Sasha, Victor, and Leo.

  [5] Beyond the Horizon

The sun dipped low, painting the sky in fire and gold.

But far beyond the Academy walls, at the edge of Earth’s orbit, a lone figure floated—his body wrapped in shimmering distortions of space itself.

  He opened his eyes.

“Noir,” he whispered to himself, as stars bent around his presence.

  The void rippled.

And the world below had no idea what was about to descend.
