Unauthorized Reincarnation
Chapter 4: The Chosen Revealed
When one soul collapses under the weight of endings, another finds its dawn hidden in the very same dusk.
Seven colossal statues of pure gold circled the chamber, each pair of eyes fixed upon the center. The walls shimmered with emeralds and rare gemstones, their light scattering across polished stone. At the heart of the room stood a raised platform, encircled by robed figures clad in white.
Upon the platform, a girl in azure vestments knelt with hands clasped, her long golden hair spilling like a waterfall as she whispered a prayer. Before her, light began to stir—growing, shifting—until from its radiance a figure stepped forth: Lily, still dressed in her college uniform, her face pale with bewilderment.
A woman rose to greet her, She was striking—gentle.
“I am Aurelia Solenne,” she spoke. “Devoted follower of the Seven Gods—the divine architects who breathed life into Veyloria. This land belongs to the Human Nation, ruled by five great cities. And this—” she gestured gracefully at their surroundings, “—is the Cathedral of Radiant Descent.”
The emeralds embedded in the walls glowed faintly in answer to her words.
“This city is Luminas, heart of our nation, where the King reigns and the light of the gods burns brightest.” She stepped closer, her expression softening, and extended a hand toward Lily.
“Chosen soul, blessed by descent—speak, that we may know you.”
Lily’s throat tightened. Everything—the statues, the pulsing gems, the silent figures—felt less like reality and more like a dream she had stumbled into by mistake. Words caught in her throat before slipping free in a trembling whisper.
Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
“M–me… I’m Lily. Lily Miller.”
Aurelia inclined her head, the gesture solemn.
“Our king once greeted every summoned soul in person,” she said, her voice touched by sorrow. “But he has fallen gravely ill and can no longer uphold that sacred duty.” She raised her gaze, meeting Lily’s eyes with quiet strength. “So I shall fulfill it in his stead. I will be your guide—as the gods will it.”
She turned with a graceful nod.
“Come. I will explain as we walk.”
Still dazed, Lily followed. The white-robed attendants moved silently behind as they departed the summoning hall. The corridor beyond stretched long and radiant, golden light spilling from crystals embedded in the walls. Their footsteps echoed through the sanctified passage as Aurelia spoke.
“Two centuries ago, demons appeared within the realm of the Demihumans, demons they are creatures with crimson skin, four arms, and a horn upon their brow. Their arrival ignited a bitter war.” She glanced at Lily, her expression solemn.
“Veyloria cannot endure without chosen souls such as you. This is no accident. You were called here for a purpose.”
Lily said nothing, her thoughts whirling, but her steps did not falter.
At last, they reached a great door engraved with runes and bound with glowing sigils. Aurelia lifted her hand, voice calm yet commanding:
“Radiance, unbind.
Seal, release.
Let the way be opened.”
The door pulsed with light, then parted with a slow, resonant groan. Beyond lay a chamber of prayer, bathed in golden hues. Worshippers knelt in silence, gazes lifted toward walls painted with breathtaking murals—celestial beings, ancient battles, and sacred emblems. The air was heavy with reverence.
Moving quietly between them, Aurelia guided Lily out into open daylight.
The city beyond unfurled like a vision: sunlit streets lined with stone houses and timber frames, rooftops steep and pointed. In the distance, a castle towered above all, its spires piercing the heavens like watchful eyes.
As they walked through winding streets, Aurelia spoke again.
“The Human Nation is governed by five great cities. Hear their names:
Center: Luminas
North: Cindralith
South: Veloria
East: Aurevia
West: Castriel”
Her tone darkened slightly as she continued.
“Castriel lies on the border of the former Demihuman lands. To venture there unprepared is suicide. Even now, humans clash constantly with demons.”
Lily’s gaze drifted to the distant castle, her heart uneasy. Questions stirred within her—about the Demihumans, about Castriel, and about the strange pull she felt toward places she had never seen.
