Yana fell to the ground in an agony she could not describe. Her eyes watered as her soul seemed to expand, rip, and reformed. Her breathing was ragged gasps and as soon as she focus again another alert flashed before her line of sight.

Again she hit the ground - writhing in even more pain. Her soul seemed to slowly Weave together, cold numbness flowed over her as she waited for the process to end. The pain slowed and she turned onto her side and vomited. She breathed deeply as she vomited again, trying to calm herself and get her body together and under her control again.

The smile fell from Yana’s face. She couldn't use her spoils of war as she wished? She resisted arguing, keeping her thoughts to herself. 'Do you have a name?'
There was a long pause. [I have never been given a name.] Yana heard the System’s non-existent pout.
'Well, how about I name you? Let’s see. How about Almawa?'
[Almawa?] Yana felt the System pause, almost thinking. [You combined Sho and Wao words—Beauty and Complex. Hmm. I will accept this. Finally, you put thought into something, Yana Pallindrone.]
Yana resisted the urge to roll her eyes and called up her information.

Yana froze. "One thousand!" Almawa did not reply but Yana could feel the system's smugness. Yana exhaled dramatically.

She frowned slightly when she saw that her evolved ability was at Novice, and that she was still a Shadow Novice. 'Why is it [Shadow Unite] at Novice and why am I still a shadow novice?'
There was a long quiet moment. There was a dramatic sigh and Almawa spoke.
[Because you are a novice. How can you be beyond a shadow novice when you have no true shadow knowledge and you have never used shadow unite, that is why it is at Novice. And how can you start out Adept at an entirely new ability?] Yana felt Almawa shaking her non-existent head.
Yana simply nodded and first focused on the rewards from the church.
Just looking at them, she sensed she knew exactly what they were. The weapon was intriguing. It was made of shadow, its dense black surface looking solid, yet she could feel the shadows comprising it moving so quickly they seemed to vibrate. They were old, bottomless, and powerful.
She took the weapon—a long sword—in her hands, and it instantly turned into a large, bulky staff. She smiled, twirled it, and felt its balance. Then it abruptly changed into a great sword that was extremely heavy. She frowned and poured magic into it. The weapon drank it up greedily. Yana abruptly cut off the flow. 'Now. Can we somehow find a happy medium?' Instantly, the weapon became an extremely large, extremely heavy mace. She would have to tame it through sustained magical feeding until it stabilized into her desired form.
Then she looked at the fabric. This was shadow silk. She raised an eyebrow. This church of light had quite a bit of shadow artifacts. No wonder their 'balance' was no longer of concern. The silk was durable and could resist most weapons, and if it was tied to a soul, it could grow in strength to match the wearer. Impressed, she put the fabric away.
Then she looked to the two Secret Items she now had access to.

Yana smiled. She would take back all of her belongings.
Orb Dimension was a realm of landmasses – each floating on a plain below a blue moon and above a red sun. Even with the red sun below, the dimension was a place of pervasive darkness and shade. The landmasses had different cultures, many of which were constantly in conflict.
"Starlight, can you sense the artifacts?"
'Yes. They are all on different continents.'
Yana nodded. "There are 12 here correct?"
"Your memory is coming back." Tasha observed.
Yana shrugged. "I have already absorbed six memory shards. I actually sense four here in this dimension. I am thinking that I can find at least one in every shadow dimension." She paused, waiting for Almawa to contradict her. No contradiction came.
“What continents are they on?”
Starlight thought for a moment “Li, Gra, and Ut.” Yana nodded as she listened, thought on what she knew about Orb and where her memory shards were within the dimension.
"Let’s stay in Misyl this time." Yana frowned, catching the silent, desperate plea radiating from Amber.
"Just ask directly, Amber. Mistress will understand," Tasha spoke sternly, though compassion laced her tone.
Amber visibly gathered her courage. "It would seem that a younger brother of mine is being sold to the Lashers. They are pirates who go from dimension to dimension, terrorizing others and buying slaves to be cannon fodder. I understand..."
"Okay. He is being sold on Misyl?"
"Yes, Mistress."
Yana nodded. "Find us an appropriate place on Misyl."
