Chapter 16 : Frost Dragon

After the victory of Clan Origin against the Orc horde, Rey immediately ordered everyone to rest.

Their destination was clear—the depths of Floor Seven.

This mission could not be left unfinished. They had to completely clear Floor Seven, no matter the cost.

Inside the horse-drawn carriage that Rey occupied, all the upper leadership of Clan Origin had gathered for a strategy discussion. The atmosphere was calm, yet heavy with anticipation.

Alex was the first to report.

“Every division is currently in stable condition,” he said seriously. “They only need a short rest to fully recover.”

Hearing that, Rey nodded. Without hesitation, he reached into his inventory and took out several potion bottles. The liquids inside shimmered faintly with different colors.

“These are potions ranging from low-tier to high-tier,” Rey said as he handed them to Luna and Alex. “Give them only to those members in need.”

His gaze sharpened as he looked at everyone present.

“From this point onward… the monsters we face will only grow stronger.”

  The carriage fell silent.

“I plan to investigate the crystal that the Kingdom of Hyleos mentioned,” Rey continued. “I have a strong feeling that the person trapped inside it might be Emily.”

  Eris froze.

Her eyes widened before tears streamed down her cheeks.

“Rey… what… what you’re saying—is that true?” Her voice trembled. “My sister… is she still alive?”

  Rey clenched his fists slightly.

“I don’t know,” he answered honestly, his voice filled with uncertainty. “This is only my intuition. There’s a chance it’s a trap. But… we have to see it with our own eyes.”

  Tristan nodded in agreement.

“I agree with Rey,” he said. “We’ll take a short rest, then move toward the marked location on the map.”

As he spoke, Tristan pointed toward a red-marked area on the map Alex was holding.

  Willson frowned slightly.

“But our forces are exhausted,” he said. “Is it really okay not to rest longer?”

Before anyone else could respond, Rey cut in.

“Willson, don’t worry,” Rey said calmly. “We’ll move tomorrow. I’ve calculated that it’s already night outside the dungeon. Tomorrow will be the best timing.”

  Willson nodded, understanding his reasoning.

However, everyone present couldn’t help but exchange confused glances.

“How does he know the time outside the dungeon?”

That thought crossed all of their minds.

Rey noticed their strange looks and sighed inwardly.

“I knew they’d think this was weird… but my system has a clock, he thought. Of course I know it’s night.”

Then, with renewed seriousness, Rey spoke again.

“Alex, you need to boost the morale of our forces,” he said. “Give them good food and drinks. Make sure they’re motivated for tomorrow’s journey.”

Alex broke into a confident grin.

“Hey, Rey, I’ve already taken care of that,” he replied. “You don’t need to worry.”

Drax, who had been silent until now, finally spoke.

“Didn’t you all feel it?” he asked gravely. “That pressure… the aura from that roar earlier.”

  Alex nodded slowly.

“Yeah, I felt it too,” he said. “To be honest, it terrified me. That aura was stronger than Helberg… stronger than the Orc Warlord we fought before.”

  Rey exhaled softly.

“I predict that monster has already surpassed Level 100.”

  The words struck like lightning.

  Willson’s hands began to tremble.

Eris hugged herself tightly, fear written all over her face.

Melvin, Elysa, and Luna fell silent, staring blankly ahead as they contemplated their fate.

  Rey observed everyone’s reactions carefully.

Then he spoke, his voice firm.

“Don’t worry,” Rey said. “I’ve already anticipated this danger. I’ll be the one to engage that monster.”

Everyone snapped their attention toward him.

“If that monster is guarding the crystal,” Rey continued, “and if Emily is truly inside it… then I want all of you to focus on securing the crystal.”

  He paused.

  “I’ll face the monster.”

Alex slammed his hand against the carriage wall.

“REY!” he shouted. “Have you lost your mind?! A monster over Level 100 is a nightmare! If things turn bad, I want all of us to leave this dungeon together!”

  Rey turned to him calmly.

“Alex, I understand how you feel,” he said. “But if Emily is really inside that crystal… I will save her.”

He met Alex’s eyes, his expression resolute.

  “Will you object to that?”

For a long moment, Alex said nothing.

Then he let out a long sigh.

“Fine… fine,” he said reluctantly. “But everyone follows my plan.”

  He straightened.

“Rey is the key to defeating that monster. That means we need to move fast—no hesitation.”

After Alex finished explaining his strategy, everyone finally rested, focusing on restoring their stamina and mana.

Rey lay down, staring at the ceiling.

“Frost Dragon, Level 124… he thought. An absurdly terrifying strength.”

Yet the system’s information echoed in his mind.

“It says I can defeat it… but only if I’m extremely careful.”

  Rey called out inwardly.

“System… didn’t I level up after defeating that Orc?”

  The system responded instantly.

“Host has leveled up to Level 52. Current available stat points: 25.”

  Rey clenched his fist.

“After upgrading my passive skill, he thought, I gain a 2.5x bonus per level, plus system rewards.

These stat points… I’ll save them for later.”

  Another system message appeared.

“System advises Host to fully utilize the ability ‘Absolute Veil’ when confronting the Frost Dragon.”

Rey closed his eyes, exhaustion washing over him.

“Understood,” he murmured. “I’ll use every chance I have.”

  The next day arrived swiftly.

All divisions lined up in formation.

Alex and Willson moved through the ranks, delivering words of encouragement and motivation.

Drax, Vincent, and Evelyn were assigned as commanders of the rear defense.

Tristan, Eris, and Willson took charge of the frontline.

Rey and Alex served as the strategic core of the entire operation.

Rey instructed Alex to assign S-Class adventurers to the frontline. This ensured that any sudden monster ambushes could be countered instantly.

Adventurers ranked B and C formed the middle defensive line.

With everything in place, Clan Origin advanced deeper into Floor Seven.

The author's narrative has been misappropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon.

Along the way, they encountered numerous powerful monsters ranging from Level 60 to 78. The frontline handled them with ease.

Several monsters attempted to ambush the rear.

Under Drax’s leadership, they were swiftly eliminated.

After hours of marching, the environment began to change.

Crystalline formations—glowing blue—covered the area like frozen flowers.

  Alex checked the map again.

“We’ve entered the marked zone,” he announced.

  He raised his voice.

“All units, stay alert! The pressure here is different!”

A heavy aura pressed down on everyone’s bodies.

Rey activated Invisible Sight, his vision piercing through dungeon walls.

  Then he saw it.

A massive crystal, as large as a building.

  Inside it… a figure.

  A woman.

  Suddenly, a terrifying aura surged.

  Rey’s breath caught.

  He turned his gaze—and froze.

  A gigantic figure loomed nearby.

  “That size…”

Rey opened the monster’s status window.

  His heart sank.

  “Frost Dragon?!

How could it evolve into something like this?!

  HP over 200,000…”

“Damn it… this is going to be troublesome,” he muttered inwardly.

  Alex noticed Rey’s expression immediately.

“Rey… are you okay?” he asked.

  Rey nodded slightly.

  “Yeah… just a little worried.”

  Alex’s eyes widened.

“What do you mean by that?”

  Rey took a deep breath.

“Within an eight-hundred-meter radius,” he said calmly, “a Frost Dragon—Level 124—is stationed ahead.”

Alex’s face instantly drained of color.

“Y–You’re serious?” he stammered. “Level 124? Rey, this isn’t a joke. We need to stop right now. Call all the upper leadership. We need a different strategy.”

  Rey shook his head slightly.

“Alex, don’t panic,” he replied. “I already knew its level long before this. We’ll proceed with our original plan.”

He paused for a moment before adding,

“But you’re right about one thing—we still need to gather everyone. Especially Eris.”

The moment Rey mentioned Eris, Alex understood.

  “So that’s it… he thought.”

Without hesitation, Alex issued orders. All units were instructed to halt, remain on high alert, and prepare for potential combat. The upper leadership of Clan Origin was summoned immediately.

Once everyone had gathered, Rey stepped forward.

“Our opponent this time,” Rey began, his voice steady yet heavy, “is something far more terrifying than anything we’ve faced before.”

He looked at each of them.

  “A Frost Dragon. Level 124.”

  Shock rippled through the group.

  Melvin’s breathing became uneven.

  Elysa clenched her fists tightly.

Luna felt her legs weaken slightly.

Alex remained silent, his brows knitted together in deep unease.

  Rey continued.

“But we still need to move forward.”

He turned his gaze toward Eris.

“Eris… inside the crystal ahead, there is a woman. She’s wearing equipment similar to a Support class. Her clothes are burned… and she’s currently trapped inside the crystal.”

  Eris froze completely.

Her eyes widened, trembling violently, before tears spilled down her cheeks.

“That… that’s Emily,” she whispered. “I’m sure of it. That’s Emily.”

  Rey nodded slowly.

“That’s why,” he said, “we’ll continue with our previous strategy.”

  Then his tone hardened.

  “But I’m adding one condition.”

  He looked straight at Alex.

“I’ll fight the monster alone if our strategy doesn't work, and I need all of you to get the Crystal and leave the dungeon.”

Alex slammed his fist onto the table.

“Rey! Have you completely lost your mind?!” he shouted. “That thing is Level 124! Are you trying to kill yourself?! I object! I’ll fight with you on the frontlines!”

Rey met his gaze without flinching.

“Alex,” he said firmly, “you’re my closest friend.”

  His eyes were unwavering.

“Do you really not believe in me?”

  Alex clenched his teeth.

“Rey, this isn’t about belief,” he snapped. “This is about life and death!”

  Rey exhaled slowly.

“Alex… I’ll be honest with you,” he said. “I have a way to kill it.”

Everyone sucked in a sharp breath.

“And besides,” Rey continued, “my strength has already surpassed that of monsters above Level 100.”

  The entire room went silent.

Alex stared at him in disbelief.

“What?” Alex asked. “You’re already Level 100?”

  Rey sighed helplessly.

“Hey, hey… that’s not what I said,” he replied. “My strength surpassed Level 100—not my level.”

  Alex frowned.

“So your level is still low… but your raw power has increased abnormally fast?”

  Rey nodded.

  Alex still looked doubtful.

Without another word, Rey turned and stepped out of the carriage.

Everyone—soldiers and leaders alike—followed him with their eyes as he walked toward a massive boulder nearby.

  Rey raised his right hand.

Power surged violently into his fist.

  Then—

  BOOM!

Rey punched the boulder with full force.

The rock exploded into countless fragments.

The impact was so immense that the dungeon wall behind it cracked open, forming a massive, deep crater as if struck by an explosion. Shockwaves rippled outward, shaking the surrounding area.

For a moment, terrified monster roars echoed as nearby creatures fled in panic.

  Everyone stood frozen.

  Speechless.

Alex stared wide-eyed before bursting out laughing.

“SAITAMA!” he shouted. “Rey! You seriously focused all your points into STR, didn’t you?! Hahahahaha!”

  In the next instant—

  Rey appeared right beside Alex.

Alex nearly jumped out of his skin.

“Y–Your speed…” Alex laughed again. “This is insane! Hahaha! Good, good… this is the friend I know!”

The surrounding soldiers gazed at Rey in awe.

Alex placed a hand on Rey’s shoulder.

“Alright,” he said seriously. “I believe you.”

  Then he leaned closer.

“But remember—if things get dangerous… you run. You survive.”

  Rey nodded.

  “I understand.”

  Suddenly—

From the front, a violent chill swept across the dungeon.

A group of Frost-type monsters charged forward.

Ten Frost Dragons—levels ranging from 64 to 88.

They roared simultaneously and unleashed waves of ice magic.

  Alex immediately raised his hand.

  “Mage units! Prepare barriers—!”

  But Rey interrupted him.

“Alex. No need,” Rey said coldly. “All of you stay here.”

  He stepped forward.

“I’ll eliminate them… one by one.”

  In the next moment—

  A violent shockwave erupted.

  Rey vanished.

A thunderous punch landed on one of the Frost Dragons.

  Its body shattered instantly.

A spinning kick followed, obliterating two more monsters in a blink.

  Each movement was precise.

  Each strike devastating.

Shockwaves erupted repeatedly as blood and shattered ice scattered across the dungeon floor.

Alex and the others could only stare.

Rey’s movements were unbelievably fast—yet completely controlled.

  Willson swallowed hard.

“In just a few months… he’s become this strong, Willson thought.

I wasn’t wrong to follow him.”

  Alex raised his voice proudly.

“Look at that!” he shouted. “That’s my friend!”

One of the soldiers asked hesitantly,

“Lord Alex… who is Ace? Is he one of the Clan Origin leaders?”

  Alex laughed loudly.

“Hahaha! Don’t compare him to us leaders,” he replied. “One day… you’ll understand who Ace truly is.”

On the battlefield, Rey seized a Level 70 Frost Dragon by the head.

  With a brutal squeeze—

  CRACK!

  Its skull shattered instantly.

  Rey turned sharply.

  Five monsters remained.

  He dashed forward.

Punches and kicks rained down like a storm.

Each strike caused the dungeon to tremble violently.

Within minutes, eight out of ten monsters were dead.

The Level 88 Frost Dragon roared and released a massive blast of frost magic.

Another monster swung its massive tail toward Rey.

  Within the thick icy fog—

Rey absorbed the frost attack using his dagger ability.

He casually caught the tail strike.

  Then—

He yanked the monster forward and delivered a single punch to its head.

  The skull exploded.

Rey grabbed the corpse and hurled it toward the Level 88 monster.

  The dragon dodged instantly—

But Rey had already predicted its movement.

A powerful kick sent the Level 88 Frost Dragon crashing into the ground.

The impact created massive cracks, shaking the entire battlefield.

Clan Origin members staggered from the tremor.

  Rey leapt forward.

  A final punch—

  The ground exploded.

A massive crater formed beneath the monster.

  Silence followed.

Through the dust and debris, Rey calmly walked back toward Clan Origin.

For a moment, no one spoke.

  Then—

  Cheers erupted.

  “CLAN ORIGIN!”

  “CLAN ORIGIN!”

  “ACE IS THE STRONGEST!”

  “ACE IS THE STRONGEST!”

  Rey didn’t smile.

He simply lifted his gaze forward—

Toward the true monster waiting ahead.

  Alex studied his friend closely.

Rey stood tall, uninjured—there wasn’t a single scratch on his body. The only sign that he had fought at all was the faint sheen of sweat along his temples, proof that the battle against ten Frost Dragons had drained a portion of his stamina.

Alex let out a slow breath.

“With Rey and me inside this clan…

  No one can stop us.”

  His eyes sharpened.

“Those damn nobles. Those arrogant Players.

Just wait. The name Clan Origin will echo across this world.”

  Alex raised his voice.

“Clan Origin will open a new era.”

The entire force turned toward him.

Some of the soldiers exchanged looks, thoughts racing through their minds.

“Is Ace one of the founders?

Is his position higher than the rest of us? ”

  Alex continued without hesitation.

“So, members of Clan Origin—do not fear monsters or future threats,” he declared. “We have the strength to clear Floor Seven.”

  The response was explosive.

  “Long live Clan Origin!”

  “Victory for Clan Origin!”

“Clan Origin, Number One in the Northern Continent!”

  Alex laughed loudly.

“Hahahaha! That’s the spirit,” he said. “Clan Origin will not tremble before monsters or outside threats. So stay focused—grow stronger.”

The cheers grew even louder, shaking the dungeon walls.

Rey walked up beside Alex and lowered his voice.

  “So… how was my performance?”

  Alex grinned.

“Outstanding,” he replied. “If we had a camera, I’d record it.”

  Then his expression turned serious.

“But Rey… your strength can’t be known publicly.”

  Rey nodded.

“That’s true,” he said calmly. “I want to keep it hidden.”

He glanced toward the cheering members.

“But when I saw their morale dropping… I had to show a little strength so they could regain confidence.”

  Alex blinked.

  “A little?” he repeated.

  Rey smirked slightly.

“Yeah. I’m not about to go all out over small monsters like that.”

  Alex burst into laughter.

  “Hahahahaha! Good—very good.”

  Rey crossed his arms.

“So from here on, I’ll need you to help hide everything.”

  Alex nodded without hesitation.

“Don’t worry,” he said. “I’ve already thought of a way.”

  Rey’s gaze shifted forward.

“Good,” he said. “Then we can move. I can feel the Frost Dragon guarding the crystal—it’s starting to go berserk.”

Rey took out a low-tier potion from his inventory and drank it. His stamina instantly recovered to full.

  The march resumed.

As they advanced, a freezing aura slowly seeped into the entire formation.

  Alex felt it immediately.

  Dense.

  Oppressive.

  Terrifying.

Ahead of them stood an enormous crystal—towering, radiant, and ominous.

The moment Eris saw it, her knees weakened.

  Tears streamed down her face.

  Tristan’s breath caught.

“Emily…” he whispered. “Emily is alive.”

  Alex raised his hand sharply.

“All units—prepare for any possible situation.”

Everyone tightened their grip on their weapons.

  Then—

A massive shadow emerged from behind the crystal.

A colossal figure shaped like a dragon revealed itself.

It was at least twice the size of any Frost Dragon they had faced before.

  Fear spread instantly.

  Rey stared at it.

  “Frost Dragon, Level 124…

Its size alone makes every hair on my body stand on end.”

  Suddenly—

  Ding. Dong.

“System has detected a Chosen Individual—”

  Before the system could finish—

A thunderous voice echoed through the frozen domain.

“HUMAN… YOU DARE ENTER MY TERRITORY.”

  The shock was immediate.

Several members below S-Class collapsed to the ground in despair.

  They had heard the rumors.

When an evolved monster could speak human language…

It meant its level had surpassed 120.

  Fear crushed them.

Even Evelyn, Eris, and Vincent were sweating as they listened to the dragon’s voice.

  The Frost Dragon continued.

“YOU… YOU WHO HAVE SLAUGHTERED MY KIN.”

“YOU EVEN KILLED MY ONLY CHILD.”

Its crimson eyes locked onto Rey.

  Rey’s pupils shrank.

  “My child…?”

  He searched his memory frantically.

He had killed many Frost Dragons—but he couldn’t recall which one belonged to this dragon.

“Did I really kill its child?

System… you were trying to tell me something just now, weren’t you?”

  Before he could think further—

The Frost Dragon unleashed its skill.

  “BLIZZARD DOMAIN.”

  Instantly, the entire area froze.

Ice spread across the ground, walls, and air itself.

The cold pierced deep into bone.

Several members screamed as parts of their bodies began to freeze solid.

  This was no mindless monster.

This was an intelligent, evolved being.

  Rey felt his hands tremble.

  “Strong…

Smarter than anything I’ve fought before.”

  Then—

  His eyes hardened.

A thick, overwhelming aura erupted from his body.

  Rey stopped suppressing himself.

  No restraint.

  No concealment.

  Power flooded the battlefield.

The Frost Dragon’s eyes widened slightly.

  Rey took a step forward.

  “Hey,” he said coldly.

“Do you really want to die that badly… and that quickly?”

  The air shattered.

  The true battle had begun.
