Nicholas started his journey at night. His first act was to use his intent to cloak himself in an invisibility field that would make him undetectable by mortals.
The wind gathered around his body as he floated from building to building in the New York Skyline.
"I didn't realize how small they look from up here," Nicholas reflected.
"They are all so busy with their little insignificant mortal lives, completely unaware of what creates their destiny."
Jumping from building to building eventually led him to the docks, where a vast expanse of ocean was presented before him.
Nick jumped down to the edge of the water. As he reached one foot over the docks' edge, miraculously, a thick sheet of ice formed beneath his foot.
He stepped on the sheet of ice and tapped his toes, the wind gathering around him and propelling him 20 meters ahead in an instant, before again the same process repeated.
Again, and again, and again. It was a long time before dawn broke that Nick finally stopped his actions, from his throat a chant layered by 4 voices sounded.
Ο?κο? ?ξ π?γου γεν?σθω·
"Let a house be born of ice."
And from the surroundings gathered a vast flood of smoke, coating the entire ocean 300 meters in diameter around Nick, freezing it solid in an instant.
And from the newly formed ice sheet rose pillars of ice, and from them grew the roof of a temple looking not unlike the Pantheon. The ice that formed it was crystal clear, glowing with a blue, almost supernatural light.
Once his temporary housing was formed, Nick took out a rolled-up mattress and placed it in his space, extending his backpack, placing it in the central place of the newly built temple, and promptly went to sleep.
Once he woke up, Nick first cast a spell to tell him which way was north and what his current location on a map was before he continued on his journey, his only company being the vast blue seas surrounding him.
If you encounter this tale on Amazon, note that it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
The icy temple behind him remained, perhaps before it had time to melt, a ship might encounter it and marvel in confusion at how it appeared.
Perhaps it would become an urban legend in the future, "The temple in the middle of the sea".
However, that was not Nick's concern; his only goal was to get to British shores as soon as possible, the wind and sea being his companions.
However, there was an interruption in his journey. About 15 hours after he started his travels, a strange interference was detected by his prescience ability approximately 20 kilometers from Nick's location, way more powerful than anything he had felt in New York.
By Nick's approximation, it was either a Minor God or, considering the chaotic feeling he got from it, it was probably a creature really close to that power level.
Considering that he still needed an inducement to get Circe to teach him, he decided that it was an acceptable risk to take.
So, he changed course and immediately headed towards the place he felt the interference at.
It took him barely a few minutes to reach it, but unfortunately, once he did, he saw almost nothing, so he guessed that the interference must have originated from the sea below.
With barely any thought, he dove into the water, a bubble of air automatically forming around his body, both giving him the ability to breathe and keeping him dry.
Given that the ocean was dark, trying to see through a bubble was an exercise in futility. He immediately closed his eyes and relied entirely on his 6th sense and his prescience to guide him.
Once he did so, he immediately noticed what it was that was causing the disturbance. A gigantic squid-like creature was entrenched at the seabed below.
By Nick's approximation, its size was absolutely gargantuan, 2 kilometers long from the tip of its tentacles to the top of its head. If he didn't have his 6th sense, he might have easily mistaken it for the natural terrain.
Suddenly, Nick thought that fighting such a creature in its native terrain was a bad idea, but it was already too late, as the creature had noticed him and was evidently very unhappy at its rest being interrupted.
It let out a roar that shook the water and fractured Nick's eardrums, causing immense confusion. Nick immediately sprang into action, his instincts as a demigod causing him to immediately heal his eardrums without a second thought.
Nick immediately retreated by casting the Common Rank Wind Element Speed Spell, which caused him to immediately rocket out of the water at a speed close to the speed of a bullet.
"I can probably retreat; there is no way it could follow me. I'm too fast for it," Nick thought before a second way louder thought immediately kicked it away. "Who the FUCK does this monster think it is for it to dare and hurt ME???"
As soon as that thought came upon him, Nick immediately pressed a button on his staff's handle, causing a harpy's feather to be sacrificed.
Nick's control over the Air Element immediately underwent an Earth-shaking change, and he wasted no time before quickly chanting.
?νεμε, ?π?ταξον π?ντα τ? ?ργ? σου!"
"Wind, subdue all things with your fury!"
A raging hurricane formed almost immediately, the angry storm clouds 5 kilometers in diameter appeared in the sky, formed out of the smoke like mist.
The wind battered the waves, causing a whirlpool-like effect to form on the ocean's surface. Within the ocean, however, the creature was battling to not get sucked into the raging waters.
Wanting to strike while the creature was in peril and stuck in one position, Nick immediately sacrificed another harpy's feather before chanting once again.
??ρ γα?αν πληγ?τω, κα? ?κ το? ο?ρανο? βροντ? καταπ?τω!"
"Let air strike the earth, and from the sky let thunder fall!"
This chant immediately caused the already giant storm clouds to let loose dozens of lightning bolts from within to strike the giant whirlpool that formed.
