Ruberm saw Trevor fall to the floor face first. It looked like Trevor had exhausted himself healing the Earl. He had the Healer check him over. He was fine, except his health was halfway gone. The other Healer checked over the Earl, and pronounced him fully recovered. At this point, Ruberm told everyone to leave the room. Let the Earl get some proper rest. He had the Guards pick up Trevor and carry him to one of the guest bedrooms.
When they got to the bedroom, he had the guards undress Trevor and put him in the bed. Trevor hadn’t moved once. Ruberm then put his clothes on the chair, and his sword in the closet. Ruberm stared at Trevor. His chest rose and fell in a steady rhythm. He thought to himself, a magic healer, how extraordinary. This was a gift beyond any Forest Glen and the Kingdom of Decharte could have dreamed of. Never had there been a real magic healer in the kingdom before. This was an opportunity not to be wasted. He would have to get the Earl to agree that Trevor needed to stay in Forest Glen.
Later, when the Earl awoke, Ruberm helped him sit up in bed. The Earl was tired, very tired, but otherwise in excellent health. It seems the healing done by Trevor worked, and worked magnificently. The Earl, apart from tiredness, was in tip top shape. No aches and pain from previous wounds. Even the scars of his old wounds were gone.
“A visitor name Trevor magically healed you, my Lord.” Ruberm said.
“Did he have a unique potion?”
“No sir, he used magical healing.” Ruberm replied.
“So, a magical healing device then” the Earl said.
“No, not a magical healing device. He cast spells. Healing spells.” Ruberm watched the reaction of his Earl.
The Earl was shocked. Shocked because he had never heard of a real spell casting healer. Sure, there were many charlatans who professed to be able to heal with spells. But they never were real. They were always found out to be frauds. If this was a real magic healer, that would be huge. He needed to find out more about this Trevor.
“Where is Trevor now. Please don’t tell me you let him leave.”

“No, my Lord. He is in one of the guest bedrooms. He passed out after healing your wounds. Apparently, your wounds included curses and diseases. The effort took all his mana and half his life points. I think we were lucky, if you had been more injured, Trevor might have died healing you.” Ruberm told him.
“Where is he from? Is he going to stay in Forest Glen? If he truly is a magic healer, we need to try and keep him in Forest Glen.”
“We don’t know, my Lord. He has been asleep since he healed you. I suggest we meet with him after he wakes. Though I will say, he did seem a little strange.”
Tired or not, the Earl got out of bed. He might be tired, but otherwise he felt fine, and there was a lot to do. “Does he have a place to stay? We could invite him to stay in the manor.”
“According to the guard that brought him here, he just arrived. When he said he had a magical healing ability, the Guard almost didn’t let him in, but because of the order to bring all healing items to the manor, he went ahead and brought him here. I don’t think he has had time to get a place to stay. In fact, I doubt he even knows where the inns are located. He is that new.”
“Good, then we should give him a place to stay. One that is very nice. This would tie him to Forest Glen, and hopefully create goodwill toward us. Something in the nicer part of Forest Glen. I want him to stay, and if it costs me a house, so be it.”
“I understand my lord. If we could convince him to start a magical healing shop that would be wonderful. We will have to appease the Healers Guild, but that can be managed. To make sure he wants to stay, I suggest Covern House. It has a separate entrance that could be used as entry to a healing store. It will require staff, but with a magic healing store, affording them shouldn’t be a problem.”
“I think we will need a spy inside Covern House also. This way if he is unhappy, maybe we can fix it. Think on who we should send there.”
“He will also need a head butler, and I have just the candidate. He is not affiliated with us, but that could be a good thing. Maybe a personal secretary would be in a better position to gauge his moods. Offhand, I would suggest Fabia. She is quite efficient.”
“Yes, that is a good choice. She is also very loyal. If she succeeds, then we can grant her knighthood. She deserves it anyway, even if she can’t fight anymore.”
“I agree, my Lord”.
The conversation paused as the Earl got dressed. His outfit was made of fine cloth, but wasn’t too fancy. Just the way he preferred. When done, the Earl and Ruberm walked to his office.
“I will go check on Trevor, my Lord. If he is awake, I will bring him here.” Ruberm said as he turned to walk away.
How to keep Trevor in Forest Glen was the only thing on his mind as he walked to the guest room containing Trevor. He would be friendly and congenial. They would find out all they could about Trevor and do their utmost to convince him to stay. The economic and political ramifications of having magical healing in Forest Glen would be tremendous.
