Chapter 3: Rebirth

Darkness... An unending Darkness allowing no light to exist.

  'I-I cold.'

She felt her body shiver. She tried to move, but her body refused her. She could do nothing but wait.

  And wait she did.

  She waited...

  And waited...

  And waited...

Then a warmth covered her entirety, banishing the cold. She basked in the warmth as it was the only thing she could feet.

But... Then the warmth became a feverish heat and she became nauseous. She could do nothing but bare it and pray it would go away.

  Crack...

The sound of cracking resounded in the darkness.

  Crack... Crack...

  The cracking spread further. Then...

  Crash!

With the sound of shattered glass, a dim light creeped into her vision.

  'W-what happen?'

She opened her eyes, but her vision was blurry, the fever dampening her senses.

"Honey look! She's waking up!" The muffled voice of a woman filled with worry reached her ears.

'Who is that?' She could barely make out what the voice was saying. She was barely holding on to her consciousness by a snapping thread.

She felt a large hand press against her forehead. "She's burning up." The soft voice of a man entered her ears.

'Where am I.' She struggled slightly and sat up on the bed frame behind her.

"Honey! You don't need to get up." The woman said, almost in a yelp. "Arthur go get the doctor."

She looked to her side, to where the woman's voice came from. Her eyes were still heavy and unfocused so she could only make out a blurry bass of black, ivory, green and brown. She opened her lips, feeling them crack as she did, and spoke in a hoarse voice, "Water..."

"Ah, yes, wait a moment." The woman moved, her steps becoming softer and soft.

Alone in the room, she felt the heat rising. Not long after, fire overtook her vision, it spread across her body and soon lit up the whole room.

  'Wh—'

Without giving her a chance to react, the fire contracted, then extinguished itself. The outward fire was gone, but she felt as if was raging in her mind. A piercing headache struck her as many shattered fragments of memories surfaced in her mind.

  Gugh!

She let out a a groan as more memories flooded her mind.

"Alice!" The woman rush to her and quickly gave her the cup of water and helped her to drink it.

As the water slid down her throat, a disgusting taste filled her mouth and her throat felt like it was on fire, but she fought it and drank greedily.

  Cough! Cough! Cough!

Alice choked on the water and coughed some of it back up.

"Slow down! It's not going anywhere." The woman scolded her with a soft tone.

"Sorry..." Alice looked up at the woman, her vision now clearer after the vision of fire. The woman had braided black hair slung over her shoulder and emerald green eyes, she wore a green dress with brown accents. Her figure was plump and shapely, giving her a fluffy look. She looked quite young, like in her late 20's.

The figure of the woman overlapped with another from her newfound memories, "...Mom."

  Step... Step...

"I'm back! And I brought Amanda." The man from before entered the room again, this time with a woman.

Alice took a good look at the man. He had short, messy ginger hair and blue eyes that lay behind a pair of glassed, he wore a white shirt under a beige vest sweater and brown pants, he had a scholarly look to him. He seemed to also be in his late 20's. This was her father.

The young looking woman beside him had blond hair and golden eyes, she wore a stylish blue and white dress, as if just returning from an outing. She had a shapely figure, though her chest was smaller than Alice's mother. She was Amanda, a family friend and doctor.

Amanda walked quickly to the side of the bed and placed the back of her hand on Alice's neck. She then placed her hand on her chest.

"Alice baby, Take a deep breath." She said as she gave a warm smile.

Alice looked at her for a moment before doing as she is told.

  "Now breath out"

Hooooo... She let out a long sigh. Amanda made her repeat this a few more times, then held her jaw and said.

  "Open up."

Alice open her mouth, allowing Amanda to look inside. Her golden eye's seemed to glow for a moment before returning the normal.

She turned the Alice's parents, "Alright, her condition seems to be much better than what you described before. I don't know what caused her to faint but I can brew a medicinal tea for her, with her current condition she should be fine a day or two after drinking it."

"Thank you so much Amanda. We were so worried when she fainted." Alice's mother expressed her gratitude with a thankful expression. "Ah, How—"

"No need for payment Marisa, Alice is like a daughter to me." She cut her off, not letting her finish. They had bee friends for so long, and Alice was like a daughter to her, she didn't have it in her to take money for this.

"Arthur, come help me with the tea." She gave Alice and her mother a smile before walking off with Arthur—Alice's father.

Marisa took the empty cup and also walked out of the room, turning to Alice as she did, "Rest, we'll be back in a moment."

Alice watched as each person left the room with a lost expression. She thought back to her memories, which were currently jumbled. She had a hard time focusing because of this, but the memories were slowly setting back into place, though, a lot of them—mostly the ones from her time as Alice—were fuzzy and had holes in them.

She focused on the clear memories, the ones from her time as Sharon. The last thing she remembered was buying things for her daughter's birthday and a disaster happening that killed them and I became devastated and died soon after.

She looked at her small hands and smiled bitterly. She was currently six, the same age as her youngest daughter.

'I'm alive... But, How? No the better question is how did I come to occupy little Alice's body? And what happened her?' Alice though for a while. She knew 'magic' existed, everyone did, but what she experienced recently is way beyond what she thought was possible.

From that monster to me reviving into new body, these were things way beyond what the 'magicians' publicly known were capable of.

  'Maybe I am special?'

Heh... She laughed at the thought. 'Maybe some great magician saved me and maybe even the others. Maybe if I find him I can ask him to teach me magic.' Her imagination ran wild. She was giggling like a child, no she was a child now.

She paused as she seem to realize something. 'Now that I have a chance to live again, what should I do?' Her mind went over the many things she wanted to do in her past live but didn't get to.

She steeled her resolve, 'I'll get into a good high school and go from there, maybe I'll even learn how to use magic if I study enough, that way I can search if they're alive.'

She smiled brightly and placed he hand to her chest, "Yeah."
