  This introduction chapter isn't necessary for you to read, so feel free to skip it.

  I just wanted to take some time to expand on what you can expect from this story. I can only get so descriptive in the blurb and shoutouts, lol. I understand people can easily get turned away when something happens that they aren't a fan of, or didn't expect, so I want to take a moment to make it clear what you are in for with my story.

  The Monster's Apprentice is a dark fantasy story that I have been working on for over six years now. There are four books planned for this series. Volumes 1 & 2 are already finished, and they equate to around 900+ pages in total. Book 3 is half complete, and should be around another 500+ pages. Book 4 is in early production and should be another 500+ pages. I have no plans to abandon this project, so rest assured, you will see the end of it one day.

  Multiple Lead Characters: Throughout the story, Emily will be the primary perspective. Yes, we will witness events through the eyes of other characters, but when we do so, it is because I feel the impact of a scene is better felt through another perspective.

  Slice of Life: There are a handful of scenes and chapters that fall more in line with 'a day in the life...' than others. I like these quieter moments because it allows us to slow down and get to know these characters in ways that aren't completely influenced by action or drama. Besides, monster hunting isn't just about action, it involves patience, and practice. Volume 1 contains quite a bit of this, fair warning.

  Dark Fantasy: I want as many people to be able to enjoy my story as possible, but I understand that there will be certain things in it that don't appeal to everyone. So, below is a brief list where I will go more in depth for what you can expect.

  Content Warnings:

  This is a dark fantasy story in ever sense of the term. There will be disturbing moments and content that will make some readers uncomfortable (but if you're here for that, then you're in for a treat).

  Graphic Violence - There is going to be a lot of violence throughout the series, and most of it will be incredibly graphic in detail. Some of it may be unnecessary, but I'm a fan of hardcore violence and action, so that is definitely reflected in my work. This will include visceral descriptions of dismemberment, gore, and torture.

  Profanity - Language, obviously. However, there are derogatory terms used toward certain fantasy races, so be aware that sort of material will be in this dark fantasy.

  Sensitive and Sexual Content - I'm not going to sugar coat this, there will be topics many people are going to find makes them uncomfortable, including sexual assault. In chapters where any of this topic may be more prevalent, I will be leaving summaries in spoiler tags for readers who may not wish to read it.

  Regular Sexual Content - Yeah, that's going to be in here too. Much of it won't come until we're way further down the line though. There will be a focus on Yuri romance further down the line as well.

  That being said, the first volume/arc of this story will be both lighter in tone and slower-paced. I wanted to take my time in the beginning to focus on establishing characters and rules for the world before we're thrust into the fray. I'm also a fan of training arcs, and I enjoy watching the characters gradually improve in their craft. I'm a sucker for details, lol. Rest assured, though, you're in for some wild stuff.
