Chapter 96: C.C.’s Super Lecture

C.C. said: "Because Suwen's parents were both human."

Kallen said: "But C.C., didn't you just say that even the offspring of two humans in the Sanctuary aren't necessarily human?"

C.C. said: "Oh, I forgot to mention — there are ways for humans in the Sanctuary to have normal offspring. What were those methods again… actually, Rulu, why don't you expin."

"Alright, let me crify." Rulu said slowly. "First, I should tell you that virtually every living creature in the Sanctuary — whether human or otherwise — possesses some degree of Psionic power. And there's one key difference between creatures with Psionic power and those without: creatures with Psionic power can mate with any other species and produce offspring."

Kallen pushed back immediately: "That's impossible. Are you saying that in the Sanctuary, a tiger could mate with a cow and have offspring?"

Rulu said: "That is indeed the case. However, it's a matter of probability — generally speaking, the closer two species are to each other, the higher the likelihood, and the more distant they are, the lower it is."

"Is that so? That really is something extraordinary." Kallen said with wonder.

Rulu said: "Getting back to what we were discussing — as C.C. mentioned, even when two members of the same species in the Sanctuary mate, there's a high probability that their offspring will be a mutation. The children of two humans aren't necessarily human. However, this only applies when both parents are Ultra-capable. As long as one of the two parents is not Ultra-capable, and their offspring is not born within the Sanctuary, the child will be a normal human being."

"Thank goodness my mother was an ordinary human. Otherwise I might have turned into some kind of monster." Kallen said, instinctively raising a hand to touch her own face. Just imagining herself looking like A-Niu or Sphinx made her heart flutter with unease.

Nana said: "If what you're saying is true, Rulu, then after so many generations of reproduction, wouldn't all the humans living in the Sanctuary have turned into monsters by now?"

Rulu said: "Under normal circumstances, yes — but there's something you need to know. Humans in the Sanctuary have very long lifespans, and reproduction is forbidden among humans within the Sanctuary. On top of that, most of the humans living in the Sanctuary originally migrated there from the outside world. So the vast majority of humans in the Sanctuary still have normal human appearances."

Nana said: "The Sanctuary really is a strange pce. Oh, by the way — I've heard that apart from the people of the Sanctuary themselves, no one in the outside world can discover its location. It's almost as if the Sanctuary doesn't exist at all. Is that true?"

Rulu said: "It is. The Sanctuary is actually a small isnd, not particurly rge in area…"

Before Rulu could finish, Kallen immediately objected: "That can't be right. I've heard the Sanctuary is nearly half the size of Huaxia Nation. There's no way it's just a small isnd."

Nana added: "My teachers at school used to say the same thing. Rulu, are you sure you haven't made a mistake?"

At that point C.C. spoke up: "How would your teachers know something like that? Let me tell you. While the actual nd area of the Sanctuary is indeed very rge, from the outside world's perspective, it appears no bigger than a small isnd."

  "What does that mean?"

  "C.C., isn't that a contradiction?"

C.C. said: "It's because the nd of the Sanctuary was constructed using special methods. The entire Sanctuary, much like an Ultra-capable individual, possesses the ability to use Magic — it can even warp space and alter the size of things, shrinking the entire Sanctuary down to the size of a small isnd."

  "Really? That's absolutely unbelievable."

"Is… is something like that actually possible?"

Both Nana and Kallen sat with their mouths hanging wide open.

"And that's not all." C.C. was clearly pleased with their reactions. She lifted her chin and said with a self-satisfied air: "The Sanctuary can also float in the air and move freely. The entire Sanctuary is enveloped by a powerful force field. Anything that comes too close is drawn in and torn apart by it. For these reasons, it is extremely difficult for the outside world to locate the Sanctuary — and even if someone does find it, reaching it is another matter entirely."
