The War Of Ideals -1 (2in 1)

  Marine Headquarters, Marineford

Fleet Admiral Sengoku stood on the execution platform, surveying the massive assembly of military might spread before him.

Over one hundred thousand Marines filled the plaza in perfect formation, their weapons gleaming in the morning sun. Vice Admirals commanded their divisions with iron discipline.

The Shichibukai occupied their designated positions, each one radiating dangerous power.

And at the very front, seated in massive reinforced chairs, sat the three Admirals; the Marines' ultimate weapons.

Akainu sat with his arms crossed, his expression carved from stone and set in permanent disapproval.

Magma occasionally dripped from his clenched fists, hissing as it hit the platform and scorched black marks into the stone. The air around him shimmered with heat.

He radiated barely contained violence, clearly eager for the battle to begin so he could unleash his absolute justice on the pirates.

Kizaru lounged casually, examining his nails with apparent disinterest. But his eyes held sharp awareness. Light particles flickered around him lazily. "How scary," he'd muttered earlier when briefed on the situation.

Aokiji reclined with frost forming patterns on his chair's armrests. An ice sculpture of a bird sat beside him, not melting .

"Everything is in position," Vice Admiral Tsuru said, approaching from behind. "Whitebeard will come in a few hours. He has no choice. When he does, we'll be ready."

"I know," Sengoku replied. "The son of the Pirate King. This execution sends a message, no lineage protects you from justice. But Garp..."

He glanced to the side where Garp sat on the platform steps like a man at his own funeral, staring at nothing with hollow eyes. The Hero of the Marines, the man who'd captured Roger himself, looked utterly broken. His usual boisterous energy; the constant laughter, the rice cracker crunching, the inappropriate napping during meetings/ all of it was completely absent.

"He'll hold," Tsuru said, though she didn't sound convinced. "He's a Marine first. He knows his duty, even if it destroys him inside."

"Will he?" Sengoku muttered grimly. "The boy he raised like his own grandson is about to be executed. His other grandson will certainly try to save him. What will Garp do when Luffy appears? When he has to choose between family and duty?"

Before Tsuru could respond, Vice Admiral Gion came striding across the plaza, her face pale with shock that she was barely controlling. As a Vice Admiral, she had security clearance high enough to know things that would make normal Marines panic.

"Fleet Admiral Sengoku! Sister Tsuru! We have Unexpected arrivals!"

"Whitebeard is early?" Akainu stood immediately, magma already forming around both fists with eager anticipation. "Good. Let him come. I'll burn every single one of them to ash."

"No sir! It's... it's the God Knights from Mariejois!"

The temperature across the entire plaza seemed to drop ten degrees instantly.

Sengoku's jaw clenched so hard his teeth ached. "What the hell are they doing here?"

Murmurs spread through the Marines. Many of them had never heard of the God Knights—legends, myths, the World Government's ultimate enforcers.

Nine figures had appeared at the main gate. Not walking through it, they simply manifested by teleportation. Very few noticed the strange magical patterns on the place they teleported.

Each wore ornate black armor that shone with inner light. Their face completely void of emotions. Each carried weapons radiating palpable power, not Devil Fruit abilities, but something older.

The lead figure, burly and slightly taller than rest, carrying a massive sword , stepped forward. His voice carried across the entire plaza without need for amplification.

"By order of the Five Elders, we shall oversee this execution and the subsequent battle." His voice was flat, emotionless, carrying the weight of absolute authority.

"We will not intervene unless circumstances require it, but our presence has been deemed necessary given recent intelligence regarding potential complications."

The implication was crystal clear and deliberately insulting: the World Government didn't trust the Marines to handle this situation alone.

Sengoku's hands clenched behind his back hard enough that his nails drew blood from his palms. Beside him, Garp's expression somehow darkened further, his hollow eyes gaining a spark of anger for the first time that morning.

Akainu's magma flared dangerously hot, small fires starting on the platform beneath him. "We don't need..."

"You will accept our presence, Admiral Sakazuki," the lead God Knight, Saint Sommer, interrupted with dismissive finality.

"The Five Elders have spoken. We answer only to them and the authority they represent. You will continue your preparations as ordered. We will observe and assess. That is all you need to know."

The nine figures moved to strategic positions around the plaza's perimeter, standing like silent sentinels. Garp muttered, " something is different about them since last time. And where's that bastard Garling?"

Sengoku forced his expression to remain neutral for the sake of the watching Marines, but internally he was furious and deeply concerned. What intelligence had prompted this? What were the Five Elders expecting that they wouldn't share with him? The God Knights only deployed for world-threatening situations. What did they know that he didn't?

"Sir," another figure approached—a Captain with intelligence division insignia, his face serious. "Additional reports from our patrol ships in the New World. Multiple sources confirming."

"What now?" Sengoku asked, dreading the answer.

"Kaido, sir. The Beast Pirates' entire fleet has left Wano. Multiple confirmed sightings. Current trajectory analysis suggests he's heading directly toward Marineford."

Complete, absolute silence fell across the command platform. Even the ambient sounds of soldiers preparing seemed to fade.

"Even Kaido is coming?" Kizaru sat up, his lazy demeanor cracking. "How...scary. That's quite unexpected."

"Why would Kaido come here?" Tsuru's tactical mind raced through possibilities. "He and Whitebeard are rivals. They've clashed before. But Kaido has no love for the World Government either. What's his angle?"

"Does it matter?" Akainu grinned viciously. "If both Whitebeard and Kaido show up, we can eliminate two of the Four Emperors in one day. It's an opportunity."

"It's a nightmare," Sengoku corrected sharply. "Whitebeard alone requires our full strength. Adding Kaido to the mix turns this from a calculated execution into potential total chaos.

We could win, but the casualties would be catastrophic. Tens of thousands of Marines could die. Marineford itself could be destroyed."

He looked out at his assembled forces. One hundred thousand soldiers who'd signed up to fight for justice, not to be caught between two Emperors in what could become the bloodiest battle in Marine history.

Garp finally spoke for the first time that morning, his voice rough and hollow from disuse. "It gets worse than that."

Everyone on the platform turned to look at him.

"Red-Haired Shanks was last spotted moving as well. Don't know his exact location, don't know his intentions."

"This is spiraling completely out of control," Tsuru said quietly, her usual calm cracking slightly. "This execution was supposed to be a demonstration of the Government's power and reach.

A clear message that no pirate is beyond our justice. Instead, it's drawing every major force in the world to one location. It's becoming something else entirely, something we might not be able to contain."

"It's becoming historic event like everyone wanted," Aokiji said lazily, though his eyes were sharp.

Sengoku looked at the God Knights positioned around the plaza. Their presence made more sense now. The Five Elders knew this was escalating beyond a simple execution. They were preparing for something much worse.

"Double the patrols," Sengoku ordered. "I want eyes on every approach to Marineford. If Kaido gets close, I want to know immediately. Prepare for multiple worst-case scenarios.

And someone get Ace up here, if we're doing this, we're doing it on schedule before this situation gets even more complicated."

As orders were shouted and Marines scrambled to adjust preparations, Sengoku stared out at the sea.

Somewhere out there, Whitebeard was coming for his son.

Somewhere else, Kaido was approaching for unknown reasons.

And the world's balance of power was about to be shattered forever.

"What have we started?" Sengoku muttered to himself, the weight of command and the lives of a hundred thousand soldiers pressing down on him.

Tsuru or anybody else had no answer.

The Calm Belt, Heading Toward Impel Down (Day Before)

Luffy sat at the bow of the Kuja Pirates' ship, staring at the horizon with single-minded intensity that had become his default expression since learning about Ace's execution.

"Ace... wait for me. I'm coming."

Behind him, Boa Hancock watched with an utterly lovestruck expression. Her eyes had transformed into hearts, her cheeks flushed pink, and she clutched her hands to her chest like a maiden deeply in love.

"Luffy is so focused," she whispered to herself, her voice dreamy. "So determined to save his brother. Such loyalty. Such strength of character. He's so... perfect."

Her snake, Salome, gave her a look that somehow conveyed profound exasperation despite being a reptile.

"Hebihime-sama," one of her crew members approached cautiously, keeping her voice low.

"We're approaching the rendezvous point where we'll transfer Luffy san to a Marine ship. Are you certain about this plan?

If anyone discovers you're helping a pirate infiltrate Impel Down, your Shichibukai status will be revoked immediately. You could be imprisoned yourself."

"I don't care," Hancock declared immediately, her voice carrying absolute conviction that left no room for argument. "Luffy asked for my help. That's all that matters. The whole world could stand against him, and I would still—"

She caught herself, blushing furiously as she realized what she was about to say. "I mean... it's strategically advantageous to... to maintain good relations with... with potentially powerful pirates for future political considerations..."

Her crew members exchanged knowing looks but wisely said nothing. They all knew the truth, their captain was hopelessly in love.

Hancock raised her head and looked down haughtily. "Whatever I do, the world will forgive me. Because... I'm beautiful!"

Her crew immediately had hearts in their eyes. "Kyaaaa! Hebihime sama!"

Luffy turned around suddenly, his expression brightening like the sun breaking through clouds. "Hammock! When do we get to the prison place? Is it soon? I need to save Ace!"

"It's Hancock, dear." she corrected automatically, though her heart fluttered wildly at him even getting her name wrong, she found it endearing rather than insulting.

"We'll reach Impel Down within a few hours. But Luffy..." Her expression became serious, which was rare when she talked to him.

"Impel Down is the most secure prison in the world. It's called the Great Prison for a reason. Getting in will be difficult. Getting Ace out will be nearly impossible.

The security, the guards, the various levels, each one is designed to break even the strongest prisoners. Are you absolutely sure?"

"Of course I will free him!," Luffy interrupted, his voice carrying that absolute determination that defined him. "Ace is my brother. I have to save him. I don't care how impossible it is. I'll break through all of impel down if I have to."

Hancock felt her heart practically explode in her chest. "Such conviction! Such brotherly love! Luffy, you're so....." She caught herself again, forcing composure.

"Yes. Well. We'll get you inside as prisoner using my Shichibukai authority but you will have the keys for the handcuffs. After that, you're on your own. I can't risk being discovered helping you directly inside."

"Yeah! Thanks, Hammock! You're really nice! You're a good person! I owe you big time for this!" Luffy's grin was absolutely genuine and without any hidden motives.

Hancock nearly fainted from pure happiness at being called nice and good by him.

Over the next few hours, they executed the plan with precision. Hancock's status as a Shichibukai allowed her ship to approach Impel Down without suspicion, the massive underwater prison looming before them like a fortress from nightmares.

They intercepted a Marine supply ship that had been docked nearby for loading provisions.

Hancock simply walked aboard the Marine vessel with regal authority, her beauty immediately affecting every male Marine present.

"Everyone on this ship hear my order," she declared imperiously, her Mero Mero no Mi powers activating. Hearts floated from her hands toward the Marines.

"You will take this boy to Impel Down as a captured prisoner. You will not question this order. You will not report this to your superiors. You will forget this ever happened after delivery."

The Marines, being men utterly entranced by her supernatural beauty, immediately fell under her spell. "Yes, Hancock-sama! Anything for you! We live to serve!"

"Wow, you're really good at this!" Luffy said, genuinely impressed by her efficiency. "That was so fast!"

Hancock blushed again, pleased by his praise. "It's nothing special. I- I'm glad I could help."

As they prepared to transfer Luffy to the Marine ship for the final approach to Impel Down, Hancock pulled him aside to the bow.

The afternoon sun cast golden light across the calm belt's unusual waters, creating an almost romantic atmosphere that Hancock was acutely aware of even if Luffy wasn't.

"Luffy," she said quietly, her usual imperious tone softening into something more vulnerable.

"Be careful in there. Impel Down is... it's hell. Literally. The deeper levels are designed to break the prisoners. Promise me you'll come back safely. Promise me you won't die in that terrible place."

"I promise!" Luffy grinned with absolute confidence. "And when I get Ace out, I'll come find you and say thanks properly! Maybe we can have a big party! With lots of meat."

He pulled out his vivre card, the piece of paper that always pointed toward its owner, and pressed it into her hand with casual trust.

"Here! This way you can find me if you ever need help! If you're in trouble, just follow this. Or call my crew, and we'll come running! I promise!"

Hancock stared at the small piece of paper in her palm like it was the most precious treasure in existence. The world seemed to slow down around her.

Her mind immediately spiraled into elaborate fantasy.

A vivre card... something that always points to him... something that connects us across any distance... he gave me something that leads directly to him... this is like... like... this is practically...

Her face turned completely red, steam practically rising from her head. "An engagement gift! He's given me an engagement gift! We're practically married now! Mrs. Monkey D. Hancock! No, Boa D. Luffy! Wait, that doesn't sound right—Boa D. Monkey? Hancock D. Luffy?!"

"What?" Luffy asked, confused by her sudden muttering.

"NOTHING!" Hancock clutched the vivre card to her chest protectively, as if it were her most prized possession. "This is... I'll treasure this forever. I'll keep it safe always. Thank you, Luffy. Thank you so much."

She suddenly pulled him into a tight hug, his head between her chest, surprising him completely and causing his entire body to stiffen.

Luffy's face turned slightly pink, his heart doing something weird in his chest. "H-Hammock? What are you... why are you hugging me? And it feels...nice?"

"Good luck," she whispered into his shoulder, her voice full of emotion. "Save your brother. Come back alive. And... and come back safely... I'll wait for you."

She released him quickly, spinning away to hide her embarrassed expression and the tears threatening to form.

Luffy rubbed the back of his head, feeling something weird flutter in his chest that he didn't quite understand. His face was still slightly flushed. "Uh... okay. Thanks for all the help! You're a good person, Hammock! One of the best! I'll pay you back!"

  "It's HANCOCK dear!"

But she was smiling as she said it, her heart soaring.

The infiltration into Impel Down went about as well as could be expected when Luffy was involved. which is to say, chaotic and immediately off-script.

He made it through the initial security checkpoint by hiding inside a Marine's coat as planned, staying perfectly still as they passed through the heavily fortified entrance.

The massive gates of Impel Down loomed overhead, inscribed with warnings about abandon hope. The prison's oppressive atmosphere pressed down on everyone who entered.

Then Luffy smelled food from the staff kitchen.

"Food!" His eyes lit up with single-minded focus.

"Wait, don't—" the Marine he was hiding with started to protest.

Too late. Luffy was already gone, having launched himself toward the kitchen with rubber-enhanced speed.

"INTRUDER ON LEVEL ONE!" Sirens blared throughout the massive prison immediately, the alarm system triggered by his unauthorized presence. "INTRUDER ALERT! ALL GUARDS TO LEVEL ONE!"

"Oops," Luffy said around a mouthful of food he'd already stuffed into his cheeks. "This is really good though! Shishishi"

What followed was pure, concentrated chaos.

Luffy fought his way through Level One with his usual style. direct, powerful, and completely without strategy. He left a trail of unconscious guards and utterly confused prisoners in his wake, many of whom weren't sure if they should be cheering or terrified.

He crashed through Level Two, the Beast Hell filled with dangerous monsters that attacked on sight. The creatures were no match for his Gear Second enhancement.

On Level Three, the Starvation Hell where prisoners were left to slowly waste away, he encountered someone completely unexpected.

"Straw Hat?!" A former Baroque Works agent yelped in shock, somehow free from his cell. "What are you doing here?! How did you even get in?!"

"Saving my brother! What are you doing here?!" Luffy asked with equal surprise.

"Trying to escape! There's a jailbreak happening! Multiple prisoners are loose! Everything's chaos! The guards are running everywhere!"

Before they could continue the conversation, another figure appeared. Bentham, better known as Bon Clay, running at full speed in his swan outfit with a squad of guards chasing him desperately.

"STRAW HAT-CHAN!" Bon Clay's eyes filled with tears of joy upon seeing Luffy. "You came! You're really here! Oh, what a beautiful reunion of friends! I thought I'd never see you again!"

"BON CHAN!" Luffy's face lit up with genuine happiness and relief. "You're alive! I was worried! They said you got caught!"

They embraced dramatically, spinning in circles like long-lost brothers while guards watched in complete confusion, unsure whether to attack or wait for this bizarre display to finish.

"This is very touching but we need to MOVE!" Mr. 1 shouted urgently as more guards approached from multiple corridors. "They're converging on our position!"

The unlikely trio fought their way deeper into Impel Down, heading steadily downward toward Level Five where the most dangerous prisoners were kept and where Ace was supposedly being held.

On Level Five, the Freezing Hell where temperatures plummeted to arctic levels, they encountered Emporio Ivankov, the Queen/King/??? of Kamabakka Kingdom and a high-ranking commander of the Revolutionary Army who'd been imprisoned years ago.

After some brief chaos and helping Luffy, Ivankov revealed his identity, making Luffy reply instinctively that Dragon was his father.

"Straw Hat-boy!" Ivankov's eyes widened in recognition behind their dramatic makeup. "You're Dragon's son!?"

"You know my dad?!" Luffy asked, genuinely surprised. "That's so cool! I never met him! But I'm here to save my brother Ace!"

"Ace?! The one being executed at Marineford?!" Ivankov's expression shifted from surprise to serious concern.

"That's suicide, boy! Even if you reach him down here, the security between here and escape is insurmountable! The Warden, the Guards, the various Hells—"

"I don't care!" Luffy's voice carried absolute conviction. "I have to try! Ace is my brother! I can't just let him die!"

Ivankov studied him for a long moment with those intense eyes, then suddenly grinned widely. "You've got your father's stubborn streak! That same ridiculous determination!

Fine! Iva-chan will help! But we need more people if we're going to have any chance!"

They freed several prisoners from Level Five's cells, dangerous criminals who'd been frozen and forgotten, now suddenly given a chance at freedom and revenge. Even former shichibukai Crocodile, his former enemy.

Including a familiar red-nosed clown who was somehow imprisoned there despite his relatively low bounty.

"MUGIWARA?!" Buggy's jaw literally dropped in shock, his eyes bugging out comically. "How do you keep showing up in my life?! Every time I think I'm free of you, you appear like a curse! This is a nightmare! A recurring nightmare!"

Love this story? Find the genuine version on the author's preferred platform and support their work!

"BUGGY!" Luffy grinned with delight. "You're here too! This is great! Help me save Ace!"

"Are you INSANE?!" Buggy's voice went up several octaves.

"I'm trying to ESCAPE this hellhole, not go deeper into it! Do you know where Level Six is? It's called Eternal Hell for a reason! The worst criminals in history are down there!"

But through a series of misunderstandings where other prisoners assumed Buggy was Luffy's powerful ally, threats from freed criminals who thought refusing would be cowardly, and Buggy's own desperate cowardice making him go along with the group to avoid being left behind to face the guards alone, the clown found himself reluctantly joining Luffy's increasingly bizarre jailbreak crew.

As they fought their way toward the entrance to Level Six, the Eternal Hell where the most dangerous criminals were kept in permanent darkness, they found out Ace have been already transferred to Marineford ahead of schedule.

Suddenly alarms blared throughout the entire prison with increased urgency.

"What now?!" Mr. 3 yelped, his wax powers ready to defend.

A guard nearby was shouting frantically into his transponder snail, his voice breaking with panic. "He's HERE! Shichibukai Blackbeard has arrived at Impel Down! Marshall D. Teach and his crew! They're demanding entry through official channels! They—"

The transmission cut off abruptly as the guard was suddenly sent flying by an invisible force that cracked the wall behind him.

In the den den mushi, echoing through the prison corridors with chilling clarity, they heard a laugh. A dark, cruel laughter that seemed to come from everywhere at once.

"Zehahahaha! Impel Down! The Great Prison! I've been waiting for this moment! Finally!"

Luffy's expression darkened immediately, his entire demeanor shifting from cheerful to dangerous. "That voice... that laugh... TEACH!"

"Who's Teach?" Bon Clay asked, confused by Luffy's sudden change.

"The guy who caught Ace," Luffy growled, his fists clenching so hard his knuckles turned white. "The guy who handed him over to the Marines to be executed. Blackbeard. He's here."

"If we fight him here, it'll be too late to reach Marineford, Strawhat-boy!" Ivankov Stopped Luffy who wanted to fight Blackbeard.

The group pressed forward with renewed urgency, racing against time. They needed to reach Marineford.

Blackbeard was heading there too for his own mysterious purposes. And somewhere far above them, the clock was ticking down toward the execution that would change everything.

  ******

The New World (about 2 weeks Before Execution)

On a remote sea in the New World, Kaido stood at the bow of his massive flagship, sake gourd in hand, watching the horizon with an expression caught somewhere between boredom and anticipation.

"Worororo!" His laugh echoed across the water, loud and infectious. "Whitebeard's going to war! Finally, something interesting happening in this boring world! How long has it been since we've had a real fight, old man?!"

King, his right-hand man with massive black wings folded against his back, approached from behind with measured steps.

"Kaido-san, the fleet is ready. All divisions are prepared to move on your command. But are you certain about this course? Interfering in Whitebeard's war with the Marines could trigger consequences we haven't fully calculated—"

"Could what?" Kaido turned, his eyes gleaming with dangerous, almost manic excitement. "Could start an even bigger war? Even more chaos and destruction? GOOD! That's exactly what I want! That's exactly what this world needs!

I'm bored out of my mind, King! This world has become too peaceful! Too predictable! It needs more chaos! It needs massive destruction! It needs to be completely broken down and rebuilt from nothing but ashes and blood!"

"You're not planning to help Whitebeard," Queen observed, smoking his cigar nearby while reviewing tactical documents.

"Help? Worororo! Why would I help that old bastard? We're rivals! I'm going to show up and kill whoever's left standing after they finish destroying each other!

Whether it's Whitebeard, the Marines, or everyone! The strongest will survive, and I'll test myself against whoever remains! That's the whole point of going!"

Jack, the youngest of his three Calamities, grinned viciously. "Then let's get moving! I want to crush some Marines! Show them what real power looks like!"

"Patience, Jack," King cautioned, his voice cold and measured behind his mask. The flames on his back flickered with contained intensity. "Rushing in blindly accomplishes nothing. Timing is everything in war."

"Worororo!" Kaido's laugh boomed across the deck. "Listen to King, Jack! He's the smart one! We wait until they're all bleeding and broken, then we sweep in and take everything!" He took another massive swig from his sake gourd, alcohol spilling down his chest. "Let Whitebeard and those Marine bastards destroy each other first! I want to see how this plays out! Will the old man still have that same fire? Or has age finally caught up to him?"

Queen puffed on his cigar, his round face twisted in a grin as he reviewed the tactical maps spread across a table. "According to our intelligence, Whitebeard's entire fleet is moving. All sixteen division commanders. The man's going all-in for Fire Fist Ace."

He paused, doing a little dance move despite the serious situation. "Funky! This is going to be one hell of a show!"

"You know what I really want?" Kaido said suddenly, his voice dropping to something almost wistful. "I want someone to give me a real fight. A fight like Oden did. That bastard actually hurt me! Gave me this scar!"

He touched his chest where the massive X-shaped wound marked him permanently. "Twenty years and it still aches when I think about it. Whitebeard's old now, but maybe... maybe he'll give me that same feeling. Or maybe one of those Admirals will surprise me."

"Kaido-sama," King said carefully, "if we're doing this, we need a clear objective. Are we aiming to claim Whitebeard's territory? Kill him and take his position? Or is this purely for your... entertainment?"

"Entertainment?" Kaido's eyes gleamed dangerously. "This is about war, King! I don't care about territory or position! I want to see the world burn! I want to test myself against the strongest! And if I die..." He laughed again, that slightly unhinged sound. "Then I die! What a glorious way to go!"

Queen shook his head, still dancing slightly. "Boss wants to die again. How many suicide attempts are we up to now? Forty?"

"Forty-seven," King corrected emotionlessly. "None successful."

Kaido stared out at the horizon, his expression shifting between excitement and melancholy.

"This war... this might finally be it. The greatest war in decades. Three forces colliding at once - the Marines, Whitebeard, and us. Maybe even Shanks if he shows up. The world government will panic. The balance of power will shatter. And in that chaos..." His grin turned vicious.

"In that chaos, I'll find what I'm looking for. Either a death worthy of my legend, or proof that I truly am unkillable. Either way, it'll be fun! Worororo!"

"This war is going to change everything," Kaido said quietly, almost to himself. "After Marineford, the world will never be the same. The Age of Pirates that Roger started? It's about to enter a whole new phase. And we're going to be right in the center of it all."

He raised his sake gourd high.

"To war! To chaos! To the greatest battle this world has ever seen! Worororo!"

The Beast Pirates' fleet began moving with coordinated efficiency, dozens of ships cutting through the New World's treacherous waters with practiced ease.

  *****

Meanwhile, in a different part of the New World, the Red Force cut through the waves at incredible speed, its red sails catching every possible breath of wind.

On the deck, Yonko Red-Haired Shanks stood at the bow, his expression grave in a way his crew rarely saw.

"Captain," Benn Beckman said, approaching with his rifle slung over his shoulder. "We're pushing the ship to its absolute limit. Any faster and we risk structural damage."

"I know," Shanks replied, not taking his eyes off the horizon. "But we're still going to be too late. Far too late."

"You tried to warn them," Yasopp offered from nearby, checking his rifle. "You went to Whitebeard yourself. Told him it was a trap. He wouldn't listen."

Shanks's jaw clenched. "Of course he wouldn't listen. Ace is his son in everything but blood. What father wouldn't go to war to save his child?"

He paused, his single eye troubled. "But this isn't just about saving Ace anymore. This has escalated into something far more dangerous."

"The God Knights' deployment," Beckman said grimly. "That's what has you worried."

"The Five Elders don't deploy the God Knights unless they're sure of victory and preparing for a world-altering event," Shanks said.

"And Kaido moving? That's even worse. This isn't going to be an execution and a rescue attempt. This is going to be a convergence of powers that could reshape the entire world order."

Lucky Roux approached, munching on meat but looking uncharacteristically serious. "So what's the plan, Captain? We can't fight the entire Marine force, Whitebeard's crew, AND Kaido's fleet all at once."

"We're not going there to fight," Shanks said. "We're going there to stop the fighting. To prevent this from spiraling into complete catastrophe."

His crew exchanged looks. They'd followed Shanks through impossible situations before, but this?

"I made a promise once," Shanks spoke quietly, thinking about the straw hat he'd given to a certain young pirate years ago.

"A promise about the future, the next generation. If this war destroys too many of the old guard all at once, if it creates a power vacuum too large... the world will descend into chaos unlike anything we've seen since the Rocks era."

"You think it's that serious?" Yasopp asked.

"I know it is," Shanks replied. "Whitebeard, Kaido, the Admirals, potentially even the God Knights all fighting in one location? The casualties will be astronomical.

The fallout will be like nothing seen before. And somewhere in all of that chaos..." He frowned. "Someone will take advantage. Someone always does."

Beckman lit a cigarette, exhaling slowly. "You're thinking about Blackbeard."

Shanks nodded. "Teach. He orchestrated this entire situation by capturing Ace. He became a Shichibukai by turning Ace over to the Marines. He's positioned himself perfectly.

Whatever he's planning, it involves this war. And men like Teach don't make elaborate plans unless the payoff is enormous." His hand absentmindedly touched the scar over his eyes.

"You think he'll show up at Marineford?"

"I think he's already there, or close to it," Shanks said. "And I think whatever he's after, getting it requires the chaos of this war as cover."

The Red Force sailed on, racing desperately toward Marineford. But even at their maximum speed, even pushing every limit, they were still days away.

Too late to stop the war from starting.

Too late to prevent the first blood from being spilled.

But perhaps, just perhaps, not too late to prevent the absolute worst outcomes.

"Luffy," Shanks murmured, thinking of the boy he'd inspired years ago. "I hope you're not caught up in this mess. You're not ready for this level of conflict. Not yet."

But deep in his gut, Shanks suspected that Monkey D. Luffy was exactly where he always ended up - right in the center of the chaos, fighting against impossible odds with that same reckless determination.

"CAPTAIN!" A lookout's voice suddenly rang out, urgent and terrified in a way that made everyone's heads snap up. "Something in the water! Multiple contacts! They're moving fast and they're NOT normal!"

Shanks's eyes narrowed immediately, his hand instinctively moving toward his sword. "What do you mean, not normal? Be specific!"

Before anyone could respond, the water around the entire Red Hair Pirates' fleet erupted violently.

Creatures burst from the depths in coordinated assault. Their bodies were twisted amalgamations of flesh and something else, something that looked like reality itself had been corrupted and molded into physical form.

Their eyes glowed with sickly green light that hurt to look at directly. Their mouths opened far too wide, revealing spiraling rows of teeth that went back and back and back like infinite nightmares given physical form.

And they moved with terrifying speed and disturbing intelligence.

"WHAT THE HELL ARE THOSE THINGS?!" Lucky Roux shouted, his gun already out and firing rapidly.

The bullets hit squarely but barely slowed the creatures down. They absorbed the impacts and kept coming, claws extended.

The creatures leaped onto every ship in the fleet simultaneously, coordinated like a military strike force. Their claws tore through reinforced wood like it was wet paper, gouging deep furrows in the hulls.

"They're not Devil Fruit users!" Yasopp shouted from his sniper position, his professional instincts immediately analyzing the threat while firing with deadly accuracy. "No weakness to seawater! They're swimming between ships! They're coordinating their attacks!"

Shanks drew his sword in one smooth motion, Haki immediately coating the blade midnight black. "All hands! Combat formation! Protect the ships at all costs! Don't let them breach the hulls!"

What followed was brutal, desperate chaos.

The Red Hair Pirates were among the strongest crew in the entire world. Every single member was capable of using Haki at least at a basic level, and most of them were master combatants with years of experience against the most dangerous opponents in the New World.

But these creatures were utterly relentless, attacking with mindless fury that felt almost programmed, and their numbers seemed endless.

Wave after wave emerged from the depths.

"They're targeting the ships specifically!" Benn observed with growing alarm, blasting one creature with a Haki-infused gunshot that actually made it explode into corrupted flesh.

"They're not just trying to kill us, they're trying to sink the fleet! Every attack is aimed at structural weak points!"

"They know ship construction!" Yasopp realized with horror, putting down three more creatures with precise headshots. "They're hitting load-bearing sections, targeting the keels, going for the masts! This isn't random!"

"Get out of my way!" Shanks released his Conqueror's Haki in a massive wave that rippled across the entire battlefield.

The weaker creatures collapsed immediately, their corrupted minds unable to withstand the sheer force of will from an Emperor of the Sea.

But the stronger ones kept coming, completely unaffected, perhaps not even sentient enough to be intimidated by dominance.

The battle raged viciously. These things didn't fight like living beings trying to survive—they threw themselves at the ships with suicidal determination, clawing at hulls, tearing at sails, attacking masts and support beams with disturbing knowledge of exactly where to strike for maximum damage.

Despite the crew's incredible skill, despite their Haki and decades of experience, despite being among the most elite fighters in the world, the sheer numbers and relentless assault took their inevitable toll.

  Ships began to sink.

One by one, the Red Hair Pirates' vessels took catastrophic damage. Hulls breached beyond repair, masts toppled and crashed through decks, support beams snapped under coordinated assault.

The crew, mostly non-Devil Fruit users who could swim had to abandon ship after ship, diving into the water and swimming desperately for remaining vessels as their fleet was systematically destroyed before their eyes.

"ABANDON SHIP!" Benn ordered as another vessel listed dangerously to port, water flooding the lower decks. "Everyone into the water! Swim for the nearest ship! Stay together!"

The creatures kept coming. For every ten they killed, twenty more seemed to emerge from the depths.

"There's too many!" Lucky Roux shouted, helping a younger crew member stay afloat. "Where are they all coming from?!"

Shanks stood at the bow of the Red Force itself as his flagship—his beautiful, legendary ship that had carried him across the world—began listing dangerously. Water poured through multiple breaches in the hull, and the main mast had a massive crack running through its base.

His expression was dark with fury. Around him, his crew swam for their lives, helping weaker members, keeping everyone together through training and brotherhood.

"EVERYONE OFF THE RED FORCE!" Shanks ordered, his voice cutting through the chaos. "She's going down! Stay together! Form up!"

He stood on the bow until the last crew member had abandoned ship, then dove into the water himself as the Red Force—his pride, his home, his companion for decades—began her final descent beneath the waves.

Shanks stood in the air, his hair floating wildly as he looked at his beloved ship sinking into the ocean. He could hear the sad cry of the ship spirit.

He pointed his swords at the creatures still trying to drag his crewmates into the abyss. When his voice came out, it was far different from his usual carefree tone. " I don't what you are, you'll die here."

Red lighting crackled around him and his sword coated in armament haki as he swung it down . "Divine Departure!"

A massive slash of destructive force engulfed the writhing mass of fleshes. Everything in it's path vanished, even the sea itself was parted. The creatures hissed angrily and screeched in pain.

The shockwave caused a storm to break out, sending massive waves of water

When it finally ended, when the creatures suddenly retreated back into the depths as mysteriously and abruptly as they'd appeared, the Red Hair Pirates floated in the open ocean, treading water and helping each other stay afloat.

Not a single ship remained above water.

Their entire fleet, vessels they'd sailed for years, ships that had been modified and improved and become homes—all of it was gone. Sunk into the sea.

"What... were those things?" Lucky Roux asked between gasps, exhausted from prolonged combat and treading water while helping two younger crew members. I've never seen anything like that? Did world government make new weapons?"

Shanks stared at the dissipating creature remains floating on the surface, they were evaporating like mist now that they were dead, leaving no physical evidence of their existence.

"I don't know. But I've sailed these seas for decades, and I've never seen anything like them before. They felt wrong. Corrupted somehow. Like the world itself was rejecting them but they existed anyway."

"Boss," Benn said grimly, swimming closer while keeping his cigarette somehow dry. "If things like that appear right before the biggest war in decades, right when multiple Emperors are converging... that's not coincidence. That's enemy action."

"I know." Shanks looked toward the horizon where Marineford lay, far in the distance beyond sight. "Something else is happening. Something beyond Ace's execution."

"What do we do?" Yasopp asked, using floating debris to rest. "We have no ships. We're hours from the nearest island."

Shanks's expression hardened with determination. "We swim to the nearest land. Then we find ships, steal them if we have to. We're still going to Marineford. This changes nothing except our timing."

It took them six grueling hours to swim to the nearest island—a small, uninhabited rock barely large enough to beach on. They rested there briefly, regrouping and assessing their situation.

"We need to move fast," Shanks said, studying the horizon. "Find some Marine patrol, take their ships. We can't let this delay stop us completely."

It took another full day of searching before they spotted a Marine patrol route. Three Marine battleships on standard reconnaissance.

The Red Hair Pirates struck with ruthless efficiency. Within minutes, the Marine vessels were theirs, the crews subdued and restrained but alive.

"Set course for Wano!" Shanks ordered once they'd secured the ships. "We'll intercept Kaido before he reaches Marineford!"

But when they finally arrived at Wano's waters three days later, after pushing the stolen ships to their absolute limits, Kaido's fleet was already gone. The island's informants confirmed what Shanks feared.

"He left four days ago," a local contact reported. "Heading toward Marineford with his full fleet. Said he was going to start a war."

"We're too late," Benn said quietly.

"Then we follow," Shanks decided immediately. "Set course for Marineford. Maximum speed. We won't catch him before he arrives, but we can still get there before everything falls apart completely."

But even as they adjusted course and pushed the stolen Marine ships to their limits, even as his crew worked tirelessly despite their exhaustion, Shanks knew the bitter truth.

  They were too late.

Whatever was coming had already been set in motion. By the time they reached Marineford, the battle would already be well underway. The war would have started. Blood would have been spilled.

And they'd be arriving not as preventers, but as late participants in a conflict that would reshape the world.

The stage was set. The players were in position. And some pieces were arriving late to a game that had already begun.
