B2Chapter 21: Selling Stuff

Seph then took out five bows and five arrow quivers and two magic staffs that he also collected from his fight with Atelia and put them on the counter.

Silver Chan looked them over and said, “These are all mundane items; I can give you 14 spirit stones for the lot, or 140 gold coins. If not for the magic staffs, you wouldn’t even get this much, honestly.”

Seph took a second to think it over, but in reality he was just waiting to see if Lilith objects, and since she didn’t he said, “Deal, I’ll take the gold coins, we need currency if we deal with the outside world, and 14 spirit stones are not that much anyway compared to what I have.”

Once again, the helper went to the back and came out with a sack of coins that Seph took and put in his spatial sack.

Next, Seph took out some alchemy materials that he was running out of and a couple of low-quality pills and put them on the counter.

Silver Chan looked them over and said, “I see we have an aspiring alchemist in our hands. Oh, don’t tell me you are the one who owns a ghost alchemist, aren’t you?”

Seph nodded proudly. “Yes, I see word made it to you already about Zhi Zixin.”

Silver Chan boasted, “I am always the first one who hears about anything that happens in the sect. I have eyes everywhere; they are useful for selling certain items to certain customers, if you know what I mean.” He ended with a wink.

Seph looked stupid again as he said, “I don’t know what you mean.”

Silver Chan sighed and said, “What am I going to do with you? You are already one of my best customers though; all of you legacy takers came out loaded from the legacy trials, and I made a small fortune by dealing with what you didn’t need. I can’t imagine how good the items you all kept to yourselves are.”

He rubbed his hand greedily before he finally told Seph his offer, “I’ll give you 50 spirit stones for the lot, these pills are low quality and will only serve loser cultivators anyway, but maybe in the future you could provide me with higher quality pills and I’ll pay you handsomely for each one.” He took out 50 spirit stones and offered them to Seph.

Seph took the spirit stones and said, “We will see how it goes; maybe if you can provide me with alchemy materials for such pills, we can reach some kind of deal.”

Silver Chan replied, “I’ll see what I can do, expect my helper if I find a good source for these herbs but I’ll need patches of 5 at least, you can make pills for yourself but you give me five pills at least every time or this wouldn’t be useful for me.”

“You have got yourself a deal.” Seph said as he shook his hand; he then looked to Lilith and asked her, “What items do you think we would need for our journeys outside? I have no clue about most of the useful items for cultivators.”

Lilith thought for a second and said, “Well, you need healing pills, and some speed charms would do you good too for faster traveling. Also, upgrade your gathering tools if you intend on doing any more gathering.”

Seph nodded. “Show me your best pickaxe, axe, bug-catching net, and sickle.”

Silver Chan winced as he asked, “Are you sure you want the best of each, because those cost 490 spirit stones each, I would honestly suggest you start smaller, I’d assume you have simple tools already, so better upgrade to good tools, those are just 30 spirit stones each and you could even buy two of each in case one of them breaks.”

Seph rubbed the back of his head, embarrassed, as he said, “I guess you are right; I don’t want to spend 2000 on just tools. Okay, I’ll take two of each good-quality tool.”

Silver Chan nodded to his helper who went to the back to get what Seph asked for, as the shopkeeper said, “We prefer to sell from our storage if we have stock there, to not mess up the showcased items, but I assure you they are all the same quality.”

Seph nodded, and in a minute the helper came out walking carefully as he couldn’t even see in front of him from the tools he was hugging as they blocked his view.

Once he put them on the counter, Seph immediately used his Eye of the Appraiser.

  Appraising…

  Name: Bronze Pickaxe

  Type: Tool

  Quality: Rare

Description: The finest craftsmanship for early tools. Every cultivator should have one of these to gather ores as they get very expensive rapidly.

Usage: Mine rare quality ores, any higher rarity ore, and you risk breaking this pickaxe.

Seph nodded with satisfaction as he inspected the pickaxe; it was in excellent shape compared to the first pickaxe he got.

  He checked the sickle next.

  Appraising…

  Name: Bronze Sickle.

  Type: Tool.

  Quality: Rare

Description: An alchemist’s best friend, a top-quality sickle raises your chances of cutting the herbs smoothly and with precision without spoiling them. Though in the end it all comes down to your skill as a gatherer.

Unauthorized use of content: if you find this story on Amazon, report the violation.

Usage: Gather rare herbs, any higher rarity herb, and you risk spoiling them while gathering with this sickle.

Seph nodded as he thought, I don’t think raising my herbology level and my mining level will be very hard. The main issue is finding places with an abundance of the raw materials I need. I may be crazy, but I would love to enter a mystic realm. They are dangerous, but they are full of opportunity, and at least I won’t have to watch my words around any murderhobo cultivator who is at a much higher cultivation stage than me.

He checked the bug-catching net next.

  Appraising…

  Name: Silk thread net.

  Type: Tool.

  Quality: Rare

Description: While perception and speed — or stillness with some bugs — is the key to catching them. Having the right net for the task also plays a huge role in success. Made from the finest silk thread, this net’s durability is famed among bug catchers worldwide.

Usage: Gather rare bugs, any higher rarity bug, and you risk the net getting eaten, or getting spoilt with acid, or fire. Note: This net isn’t insured against acts of bug.

The Eye strikes again, isn’t insured against acts of bug, that’s funny. Seph thought as he giggled.

Lilith raised an eyebrow. “What are you laughing at?”

Seph said, “Nothing sorry, an inside joke, literally. Inside my brain.”

She sighed as if she had given up on him, meanwhile Seph checked the new axe; he hadn’t any axes before this one, but he remembered when he spoilt multiple swords just to get the ebony bark and he wouldn’t spoil weapons for that task again, not that he had any left, anyway.

  Appraising…

  Name: Bronze axe

  Type: Tool

  Quality: Rare

Description: The finest craftsmanship for early tools. Every cultivator should have one of these to gather wood, tree bark; cut spirit fruit that won’t leave their tree. Shit, you can even use it just to remove shrubbery from your way; it’s that useful! Note: I don’t get a cut from hyping these items... sadly.

Usage: Cut rare trees, any higher-rarity trees, and you risk breaking this axe.

Hold it. I can’t laugh again, or she will think I am crazy. Seph thought.

He forked over 240 spirit stones to Silver Chan and asked him what pills he could sell to him to guarantee the best chances of surviving a fight.

“Well, there is coagulation pill, which you break over the wound, and it will stop the bleeding immediately, there is healing elixir which heals you over time, and there is instant healing pill which immediately heal you, but these are expensive.”

Seph asked, “What’s the price of the healing elixir, and what’s the price of wild beast hearts if you have them since you said you sell everything?”

Silver Chan said under his breath, “I knew investing in acquiring the carcasses of that herd of pig beasts that attacked the sect recently was a smart move.”

He calmed himself down and said in an audible voice, “The elixir is 35 spirit stones each; I can give you pig beast hearts for 25 each, or the entire carcass for 50 spirit stones each.”

Seph thought, Buying the carcass would be beneficial for me; I can use the heart for healing between fights, and I can use the carcass as fodder for my gourd to never run out of the pestilence substance.

“Okay, I’ll take ten of those carcasses, and five healing pills; I also want five speed charms.”

“The total for these would be 500 for the carcasses, 250 for the healing pills, and 250 for the speed charms. That brings us to 1000, but I want to recommend to you the teleportation charm, it takes a full minute to activate, but it could be the difference between life and death for you, and honestly if you can’t survive one minute before teleporting away, then maybe you shouldn’t come back.”

Seph winced as he heard those harsh words, but swallowed his pride, and said he would take the teleportation charm too.

“The total then is 1600 spirit stones; would you like to use your discount ticket now to reduce the price of the teleportation charm to 300 only?”

Seph didn’t take any time to think and said, “No, I am good; I’ll pay the full price.” He dropped a pile of 1600 spirit stones in front of Silver Chan, and in a few minutes, Seph had all the items he asked for.

He then turned to Lilith and asked, “Don’t you want to buy any of these things?”

“Oh no, I actually have most of these and more, but I need one of those teleportation charms, the ones I have will lead to different places that I am not sure even exist anymore, or how far away from here they might be.” She was about to fork out the 600 spirit stones, but Silver Chan thought this was an excellent opportunity to make peace with her since she still looked pissed at him and said, “No, no, please, it’s on the house.”

Lilith smirked and simply said, “No, I don’t want freebies.” She dropped 600 spirit stones in front of him and took the charm while looking at him challengingly.

Silver Chan was embarrassed that his peace offering got turned down, but he said, “I notice both of you have amazing pets, those charms will actually teleport you and your pets back here, and you don’t need to buy one for them too.”

Sun screamed at him for calling him a pet, and Baby growled menacingly.

Silver Chan whispered under his breath, “What the fuck is wrong with this group!”

Seph stroked Sun’s head to mollify him, and then asked Silver Chan, “Do you have nuts? Like all kinds of them, I want 1 pound of each. I also want 20 pounds of raw meat, animal meat for eating, not beast meat.”

Lilith interjected, “I have food for us both.”

“Oh, don’t worry, those are not for me; they are for Sun and Baby.”

She smiled at him sweetly, appreciating that he even thought of her dragon.

Silver Chan gave them their moment and then said, “Yeah, I keep mundane foods in the back storage too. We have some really rich inner disciples here; they like to indulge themselves.”

The helper went to get them and came back with 4 sacks of 5 pounds of nuts each; each of them had a different assortment of nuts.

He then went back and came out with 20 pounds of pork steaks.

Seph stashed the pork steaks in his spatial ring and gave the sacks of nuts to Sun to stash in his spatial sack; Sun was so happy he stood on the counter and hugged Seph, throwing both his arms around Seph’s neck.

Seph thought, another promise that I kept; I hope I can always deliver on my promises.

“The meat price is just 5 gold for 20 pounds, and another 5 gold for 20 pounds of nuts, but you don’t have to pay for those; it’s on the house. You bought so many things, the least I could do is give you the mundane foods for free,” Silver Chan smiled.

Seph thought, even while smiling, he looks shady as fuck, like a former thief, or a serial killer.

“Well, thanks so much. I think that’s all we want for today; if I think of anything else we might need, I’ll come back.” Seph said as he bowed slightly.

Silver Chan bowed back. “You are welcome back at any time.”
