Chapter 40: Boss Battle Pt 1

Standing side by side, Fenix and ChibiScker stared up at the towering door before them. It loomed ominously, painted a deep shade of blood red. They knew this would be the toughest monster they had faced in the game so far.

Their hearts raced with a mix of fear and anticipation as they prepared to face the creature that was behind the door. Other, more experienced pyers might have scoffed at their nerves, but at their level, it was only natural.

"Do you have enough health potions?" Fenix asked, his hand already hovering over his inventory.

"Yup, I've got plenty," ChibiScker responded. "What about you?"

Fenix's lips quirked into a smirk. "Do you even need to ask me?"

"Right, potion maker. Silly question," ChibiScker replied with a ugh.

With one final deep breath, they pushed open the heavy red doors. Bck smoke billowed into their faces, its putrid stench assaulting their senses and causing them to gag and cover their noses.

A notification suddenly appeared in front of both of their eyes:

[System: You have entered Krimplot Dungeon room 5 out of 5!]

[System: You have entered a poisoned state! Your HP will keep going down until you leave this room!]

“Shit!” Fenix excimed, his heart racing as he watched the -1's fsh above their heads again and again. He gnced at his HP bar, only 245 remaining. "How much HP do you have?" he asked ChibiScker.

"It's only 500,” ChibiScker replied. His face creased in worry. ”What about you?”

“Only 260. We need to take down this monster fast," Fenix said, his voice tinged with anxiety.

He looked around the room and immediately noticed the difference from the previous ones. The once lush and green pnts were now shriveled and dead, giving off a sense of decay and death.

In the center of the room, on a bronze podium, sat a gss case containing a book. Upon closer inspection, Fenix recognized it as a piece of Shilvak’s book.

"I have a feeling that touching that book will summon the monster," Fenix said, gncing over at ChibiScker. "However, from where? I don't know."

“How about you go get the book? If the monster appears close to you, I will jump on it, giving you time to escape.” ChibiScker suggested.

Fenix considered for a moment before nodding in agreement. He cautiously stepped closer to the gss case, his hand reaching out towards the book. Suddenly, an attack pushed him away, causing 30 damage.

The front of his armor was smeared with a thick, viscous blue goop that gave off an acrid smell and began to sizzle as if it were acid. He quickly wiped it off, grateful for the enchantments pced upon his armor by the mage. Once he had finished cleaning himself, he looked up and finally saw the monster looming before him.

It was a grotesque and unnatural creation, a mishmash of shattered potion bottles and mismatched colors fused seamlessly into a massive, writhing mass. Fenix couldn't help but think it resembled an overcooked marshmallow thrown into a pile of jagged gss shards. Its pulsating form seemed to ooze with a sickly aura, making him shudder in revulsion.

ChibiScker was giving it his all, but the monster's ranged attacks were overwhelming. Each time he advanced, the force of the enemy's projectiles shoved him back. He was at a loss for how to handle the situation, and frustration was setting in.

Seeing ChibiScker’s predicament, Fenix had an idea. The monster couldn’t keep both of them at bay simultaneously. If Fenix drew its attention, the monster would have to split its focus, giving ChibiScker a chance to get closer. With the pn in mind, Fenix chugged down an HP potion and charged into the fray.

Fenix’s assumption proved correct as the massive monster began splitting its attacks between him and ChibiScker. At first, ChibiScker was confused about Fenix’s sudden involvement, but he soon realized the strategy when he saw the monster struggling to fight both of them.

With renewed focus, ChibiScker advanced on the monster each time it turned its attention toward Fenix. He knew he had to move fast—Fenix was downing HP potions like there was no tomorrow, and a single critical hit could be fatal.

Just as ChibiScker got within range to strike, the monster’s attack caught him off guard, sending him skidding back three feet. A sticky substance coated him, causing additional pain. He quickly shook it off, drank an HP potion, and charged back into the fray.

The monster was starting to piss him off. It was time to take it down. Looking at his skill list, he saw that his speed skill had cooled down. He felt stupid for using it earlier, but if he’d known it had a four-hour cooldown in real-world time, he wouldn’t have. Though, to be fair, he’d just gotten the skill and was eager to test it out.

ChibiScker gnced over at Fenix, who was darting and weaving to avoid a relentless barrage of projectiles. But the man wouldn’t be able to keep that up forever. ChibiScker could see his movements becoming slower and less precise meaning his stamina was becoming low.

With a determined expression, ChibiScker tightened his grip on his twin swords, feeling the cool metal beneath his fingers. He knew he had to act fast if they were going to have any chance of defeating this monster.

Without hesitation, he activated his skill, Sonic Run. In an instant, his speed doubled and the world around him turned into a blur of vibrant colors.

He darted between the monster’s assaults, its attacks swishing harmlessly through the air where he had been mere moments before. The monster’s sluggish attempts to retaliate were no match for his newfound speed.

In mere seconds, ChibiScker closed the distance between himself and the monster. The gurgles coming from its throat grew louder with every step he took. Letting out a mighty battle cry, he unleashed a series of powerful attacks.

"Chaotic Nexus, go grab the book! I'll take care of this," he shouted over the chaos, his voice cutting through the noise as he continued to deliver devastating blows.
