CHAPTER - 205
Narrator: Lexia and Dav walked for a while, advancing through the unreal silence of that distorted world.
They were getting closer and closer to the tower, the only structure rising with majesty in the midst of that desolate realm, like a lighthouse in an ocean of darkness.
It was tall, imposing, almost unreal, its top hidden in the dense fog.
All around them, the environment seemed to breathe eternal anguish: destroyed streets, collapsed buildings, wandering shadows with tears in their eyes, walking
aimlessly in the dark like souls trapped in a sorrowful dream.
It looked like a suspended dimension, an alternate world that knew only pain.
Lexia slowed her pace, staggering.
Her breath grew labored.
"Dav.. my energy..
it’s running out.."
Her voice trembled, as faint as a candle about to go out.
Her body began to lose consistency, dissolving in places, as if her connection to reality was coming undone.
“Lexia, let Sofia know she can start whatever she’s planning.”
He spoke calmly but firmly. Trusting Sofia, he knew she wouldn’t let them down.
A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.
In the real world, Lexia sat next to Dav, both with their eyes closed.
Without opening her eyes, Lexia’s lips moved slowly.
“Hey.. Sofia? Dav says you can begin..”
Sofia, who was playing cards with Eldrin and Kael a short distance away, turned around surprised.
Her expression grew serious for a moment, then she smiled with energetic confidence and stood up.
With quick steps she approached Dav and Lexia, sat calmly in front of them, and after a deep breath, murmured something in a clear, resonant voice:
“Fontana Vitalis.”
A magic circle appeared around the three of them, spreading thirty meters wide.
It was stunning: ancient runes flowed like rivers of light across the ground, drawing intricate patterns and pulsating symbols.
The whole space lit up with a brilliant green glow, and from the runes rose sparks and sweet, relaxing musical harmonies.
Kael and Eldrin stared wide-eyed.
A sense of peace enveloped them, a comforting warmth that soothed their muscles and refreshed their minds.
They felt lighter.
More alive.
Inside the labyrinth, Lexia felt a wave of energy flood her body.
Her mana, which a moment before had been fading, surged back into her like a restoring cascade.
She paused for a moment, stunned.
In Kael and Eldrin’s minds, the same thought flashed at once, like a perfect echo:
“What an incredible ability!”
In the labyrinth, the two resumed walking, the tower growing ever closer, imposing and mysterious.
But the closer they got, the more the tension rose.
It didn’t seem like just a building.
It felt.. alive.
Or maybe it was guarding something.
Someone.
A forgotten fragment, or perhaps the very reason Dav could no longer control his aura as he once did.
But just when hope seemed near, the problems began.
Shadows moved faster.
From the fog emerged creatures: wolves black as pitch, made of pure darkness, with teeth sharp as blades and glowing red eyes like infernal embers, each nearly two
meters tall.
They growled with rage and sorrow, advancing hungrily.
“What a pain.. there’s always some hiccup in everything I do in this life..”
He sighed, but calmly took his stance, ready to fight.
His eyes lit up with determination, his posture shifted, he was a warrior once more.
“I’ll wait here. Good luck, little brother!”
She said in a playful tone, sitting on a rock and watching him like she was attending a theater show.
She looked at him with a goofy expression, holding back a giggle.
“Well then.. come at me, puppies!”
The wolves charged toward him, howling, snarling, baring their fangs.
There were dozens of them.
Their paws sank into the mist, their howls echoing like cries of ancient pain.
“They’re coming!!”
She shouted with a laugh, unable to do anything but watch and believe in him.
And so, the battle began.
