CHAPTER - 169 [Changes, Fear and Looks]

  CHAPTER - 169

Narrator: It had been an intense hour. An hour of pain, broken bones, and blood smearing the walls as if they were painting with despair.

Leo, gasping for air, his ribs shattered and hands trembling, kept fighting, driven only by frenzy and instinct.

His strikes no longer calculated: pure habit, muscle memory, and desperation.

Dav, impassive, calmly raised his sword.

A clean, precise blow: the thrust struck Leo's abdomen, leaving a wound from which blood gushed out in torrents.

Leo fell to his knees but refused to stay down.

With dirty, trembling hands, he clung to the hilt of his sword, rising inch by inch.

Then, like a flame refusing to die out, Leo lunged forward with a scream and struck Dav with all the strength he had left, aiming for his shoulder.

  The sword shattered on impact.

  Dav didn’t even move.

He took the blow in full as if it were nothing.

Then, without saying a word, he reached out and tousled Leo’s hair.

  "Good boy. You did good."

He healed him immediately, right there, standing, while Leo looked at him with the only eye still open, glossy and full of exhaustion.

An eye that saw, for the first time, a proud smile on his master’s face.

Leo fainted right after, exhausted, his breath ragged and blood still staining the ground.

Dav hoisted him over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes and walked out of the arena.

The sun had already vanished, replaced by a white moon high in the night sky.

He crossed the academy in silence, under the incredulous eyes of students and professors.

Everyone watched him: him, covered in blood, and Leo, his uniform completely in tatters.

  No one dared speak.

No one had the courage to ask questions.

Dav reached Leo’s room, opened the door and entered.

Inside, Fin and Arthur were studying, immersed in their books.

They looked up, surprised, and froze at the sight.

Dav motioned for them to stay quiet, carried Leo to the bed, and laid him down carefully.

  "Let him rest.

I’ll personally make sure to bring him dinner later."

He spoke in a low voice, but with a tone that allowed no objections.

  The two boys said nothing.

Fin’s eyes followed every drop of blood still dripping from Dav’s jacket.

Arthur, on the other hand, carefully observed Leo’s shredded uniform, yet found no wounds on his body.

"Why all that blood?.. He has no injuries, but his uniform is destroyed..."

  thought Arthur, confused.

Then his gaze moved to Dav, to his imposing body, hands still dirty, and marked face.

"The professor is covered in blood...

And I’m sure it’s not his...

  So… whose is it?"

The thought left him with no answers.

Fin stayed beside Leo, gently stroking his forehead and covering him with a sheet.

He treated him like a brother wounded in battle.

Meanwhile, Dav left the room and returned to the professors’ dormitory.

Every step he took was accompanied by hidden, silent glances.

The teachers in the corridors discreetly stepped aside, some lowering their gaze, others holding their breath.

They all remembered: little Dav from back then, short in stature, silent, who seemed harmless even if he was the hero.

But now, before them, stood a tall man, with a marked face and tense muscles beneath a uniform soaked in blood.

A man to fear, not just admire.

Once in his room, Dav closed the door behind him.

He rummaged through the wardrobe, pulling out one of the few intact uniforms left.

He looked at it with an annoyed expression.

"I’ll have to ask the director to get me some new uniforms...

These seem to have become too small."

His voice low, almost ironic, but his gaze still lifeless.

He took a quick shower, letting the hot water wash away the blood and sweat.

Then he dressed in a black and red tracksuit, quickly fixed his hair, and stepped out again, ready to go to the cafeteria.
