CHAPTER - 186 [Tastings, Rest and Letters]

  CHAPTER - 186

Narrator: Dav took a bite of the hamburger and chewed slowly, his eyes lifting to the ceiling with a funny expression, as if trying to decipher something.

Then, a small satisfied smile crept onto his face as the taste reached his palate.

  “Really good,”

he said in a deep, genuine voice, his eyes shining with approval.

  “You’ve gotten really good.”

Selene smiled, visibly pleased, a light blush spreading across her cheeks.

  “Thank you”

she murmured shyly, feeling the warmth of his compliment.

She was happy Dav appreciated her efforts in the kitchen.

“For me, this is the ideal kind of food”

he continued, dusting off the plate with his hands as he ate quickly, still wearing the same funny look, almost like a child enjoying a snack.

  “Nothing too serious or refined.”

Dav’s words seemed to confirm just how authentic and unpretentious he truly was.

“I’m also starting to prefer these more common and simple meals, sharing them with others,”

Selene responded, her smile widening as she moved closer to him.

She rested her head on his shoulder, the plate in her hands, eating slowly, without any rush.

  A moment she truly cherished.

After lunch, Dav yawned slightly a few times, covering his mouth and squinting his eyes, as if the food and company had tired him more than he wanted to admit.

Selene, who had been watching him carefully, noticed his yawn and, without wasting a second, grabbed his arm and pulled him energetically toward her room.

“Let’s go rest! I’ve got a bed so big you could fit a dozen people on it!”

she said with an ironic smile on her face, clinging tightly to him, her energy overwhelming.

Dav, almost incredulous, couldn’t help but laugh.

  “You and your beds..”

he muttered, but let himself be guided, knowing that every movement of hers carried a natural strength and affection toward him.

Once inside her room, Dav immediately noticed how large and well-furnished it was.

The walls were adorned with fine swords and lances, a collection that reflected her family's prestige and value.

A majestic environment, yet welcoming, as if each item had been chosen with care.

Selene led him to the bed, and Dav collapsed onto it with an exhausted expression, as if he had fainted.

Kicking off his shoes in a careless motion, he settled onto the bed, staring at the ceiling with a fatigued but calm gaze.

“What a long day.. and to think it’s not even over yet,”

  he muttered, trying to relax.

Selene lay down beside him, closing her eyes and savoring the moment.

Her head rested on Dav’s shoulder, and she felt incredibly serene, as if the outside world had vanished. With him, she felt safe.

Meanwhile, far from Selene’s room, King Edmund Lancaster and Queen Eleanor were discussing the preparations for the evening’s event.

The soft afternoon light filtered through the palace’s tall windows as the royal couple mentally prepared themselves for the night.

“Do you think he’ll behave tonight during Selene’s opening party?”

asked Edmund with a long sigh, as if his concerns were beginning to weigh on him.

Queen Eleanor, with a calm smile, answered confidently, despite the tension in the air.

“I think you’re worrying too much about him”

she said in a reassuring tone.

“I don’t believe anything will happen to make us look bad, even if no one would dare say it aloud.”

Edmund exhaled with a faint scoff, but kept his composure.

Eleanor, reading one of the freshly finished letters:

“I’ve asked Stefan to send an invitation to all the nearby nobles, without calling others due to the short notice, since it will be held tonight.

We just need to make a good impression, as usual, and make Selene shine in her special moment, so she can find her own path without obstacles.”

Queen Eleanor looked at him with a sly smile, but also with clear determination.

Edmund, his eyes softening with a quiet sense of relief, replied:

“My Queen, she’s already carved her own path. Nothing will pull her back.

I’m sure this is the right thing for her.”

Edmund’s smile became smaller, but also more serious.
