If you want to know the story of a random girl, chain yourself on your seat because you are in for a mad ride (just kidding). Forewarning though, there may be lots of grammatical errors in this story as it is not my first language and I am just a novice writer who has no money to hire an editor. You might not understand it if I start speaking in my native language and may think that what I am babbling about is Novena sa mga kalag sa purgatorio. You didn’t understand that, right? Anyway, that was a burial rite. Let’s get my storytelling started.
As unbelievable as it seems, I, Ofelia, have traveled through different dimensions. It started when I was 12. I did not know what triggered this occurrence but I do remember when it happened. I just finished selling the fruit cakes on the streets then when someone picked me up from behind and threw me into an endless hole. I don’t know who did that and why would they do that but if I am given a chance to meet them, ah… the things I would do will be needing viewer’s discretion. I was enjoying myself at first but since I cannot control my body as I kept falling, worry started to set in. I mean, not like I was given much choice, right? There was nothing else I could do but accept my impending death. However, it seems life has more to offer to me, probably to make up for the upcoming misery they’re gonna put me through. I actually lived. I remembered vomiting as soon as my butt landed on the grass. That was the first dimension I traveled. A decade after that happened, I was killed by the merchants. For what reason? I don't know. I figured that was the end but I was wrong. Dead wrong.
The moment I felt the sharp end of the knife on my neck I was transported to a place full of different animal noises. I remembered looking up at the sky to no avail. I cannot, simply because my soul was trapped in a pig. The next day, I was killed because there was some sort of festival in that place. That was what I call luck, as the second travel ended like that.
I cannot recall what exactly happened after that as my memory became hazy because of my nonstop traveling through dimensions. If I have to take a guess, maybe it was on my 8th travel when I realized I cannot interfere with whatever is the setting in any place I travel to avoid getting killed, so I shut myself in a cave and died of old age. Yet that did not stop my travel to another dimension. It was still fine though, I get to learn new things.
On my 13th travel, I was in a world very similar to my original world. The difference however is it is darker and the fogs cover up the streets- or was it? No, those were the smokes that came out of large factories, and the technologies are more advanced and efficient than ours- not that I can really say that for sure because I was living in a third world country when I was 12.
I continued traveling dimensions and tried to live normally as much as possible but none seems to work on my end. I even became a dictator at least 6 times, an evil witch, a mad scientist- I don’t like it because I was an actual stereotypical of mad scientists, smelly and electrocuted hair, or whatever personas that caused harm to humanity. It was certainly unforgivable but it wasn't my intention because most of the time, I would possess their body while they were in the last part of their evil schemes so it was more like I reaped what they sow. Talk about bad luck. I kept traveling and of course, I don’t always die when the travels would occur. Some of it was so random that I actually once feared opening a door because the last time I opened one, I entered a place I shouldn’t have. I don't know how many years have passed since timelines are different in every dimension so I only kept a log of my travels.
As for what I am doing at the moment, I am currently inside the dimensional shift, about to enter my 80th travel. This reminds me of that VR game I played once on my travel.
Stolen novel; please report.
I yawned and waited a couple of minutes to finally arrive at the world I will be nesting in for a while.
“Welcome to Atlas, Traveler. Please enter your name to proceed.”
Hmm?
“Welcome to Atlas, Traveler. Please enter your name to proceed.”
Oh, so now I am a character in a game?
“Where do I enter my name though? I cannot even see a keyboard.”
As if the system heard of it, a glowing box appeared in front of me.
I raised my hand to type my name but a name suddenly appeared in the box.
“Leonora Stryker? I suppose that will be my new name.”
“Welcome to Atlas, Leonora. Please follow the arrow to enter.”
I followed the arrow as instructed and a few moments later, a blinding light engulfed me.
“I’m telling you, it really happened!”
“Enough making excuses! Where is my money?”
“I don’t have AHHHHHH!!!! I SWEAR I REA---AAAAHHHH!!!!!”
As soon as I adjusted my vision, I turned my head to the voices I heard earlier and saw a buff guy kicking an old man. Mind you, this is my first impression of this place. Did I fall into some poor, urban area again? How original. I sighed and walked away from the alley. Not like there’s something I can do about that, I am just a playable character in this place, and my movements are controlled by someone unknown. Unknown?
I stopped walking when I reached the place that looked like the town’s center. I scanned the area and all I could do is sigh. This is a disaster.
This place looked like an abandoned town with drunkards lying around as an ornament. I wonder what the storyline of this game is.
“Hmm, let’s see…” I stretched my arms, getting ready to explore the area. Well, not that I am currently in control of my own movements.
An old woman passed by so I lowered my face to her level which made her shriek in surprise.
“Oops, sorry. Can I ask you a question?”
She hissed and hurriedly took steps away from me. That’s a bummer. Definitely an NPC. Another woman is coming my way so I waved at her to catch her attention.
She stopped in front of me so I, or the player, grabbed the chance to ask her a question.
“Good day, Madame. I am a traveler from another nation and-”
I stopped talking when she grabbed both of my hands and cried.
“Have you seen my daughter? Have you seen her?” She asked then left before I could answer.
*sigh* Looks like I have to explore this town on my own or whatever the player wants.
I walked around the town and ended up in a tavern. Whoever is controlling me in this game right now really knows how to have fun.
I opened the door and the loud whispers and laughter from men and women alike welcomed my entry. I looked around and grinned as soon as I saw an empty table. Oh-ho, nothing beats daytime drinking!
A boy walks up to me and asked what the player wants. My character took the menu he put on the table and began ordering food. JUST FOOD?!
“Would that be all?” No! Add in beer or any alcohols you have!
“Oh, and a craft beer!” Well thank goodness the player have some sense.
The moment he turned around, realization sinked in.
Crap. How do I pay for all of those if I got no money? That’ll be my problem right? I mean, I’m the one who’s physically here, not the player. If they’d beat someone up, it’ll be me that’s gonna suffer!
