10 – Conquering the Waypoint Ruins

I approached the smithing table in the Church of Elleh. I crushed two 'Golden Rune [1]'s bringing me to over 500 runes. I then brought out two smithing stones. My body moved on autopilot as I upgraded my lordsworn greatsword to +1. Now, I was ready.

The trek back to the Waypoint Ruins was uneventful. Mostly because I was using Torrent and was avoiding battle. Although, upon seeing those two trolls alive and well again... I really didn't know what to feel. I mostly felt hollow. I did take a glintstone staff from a noble sorcerer I killed on my way though. So, I can actually use the sorceries I pn to learn.

Once I made my way into the ruins, I found the stairs down and followed them to a fog wall. I psyched myself up and then walked through. Once through, I pulled out the spirit calling bell and box of lone wolf ashes, and I rang the bell.

As the rge figure with a golden pumpkin on its head rushed at me, three phantom wolves appeared and leapt at the figure. I dove aside and rolled behind the figure. When I turned around, I saw one of the wolves get smmed into a wall and fade. I rushed forwards and jumped, bringing my bde down on the mad pumpkin head's back. Once I nded, I spun around and struck his back again, then I backed up as the mad pumpkin head turned around. Then my wolves attacked, and the mad pumpkin head turned back to the wolves.

I rushed forwards, repeating my actions from a moment ago, only to stumble back after the mad pumpkin head smmed his head into the ground. I saw another wolf fade away as the mad pumpkin head smmed his head into the ground once more, the shockwave knocking me off bance. The mad pumpkin head turned towards me, as my final wolf leapt at his back. The mad pumpkin head turned back to my wolf, and I jumped.

The mad pumpkin head dropped to his knees and fell, I followed the guidance of grace and moved around him, and then I stabbed him in his neck. I twisted my bde and wrenched it free, watching the mad pumpkin head turn to ash and die. I took a deep breath and looked over at my remaining wolf, who looked back at me and then raised its head in a howl as it too, faded.

  "??! ??????????!"(???)

I saw grace flow through the room and coalesce in the middle, forming a site of grace. I walked over and touched it. I then turned towards the door on the other end of the room. I walked over and raised it up and open. The room beyond was filled with books and glowing blue gemstones. A pair of bookshelves and a desk. Standing in the room is a woman wearing a navy-blue robe with red and gold highlights. She has a stone mask with green gemstones embedded in the top.

I entered the room and walked up to the woman. Sorceress Sellen.

"Tarnished, are we? A wonder you should turn up here.I am Sellen, a sorcerer, quite pinly. Why are you here?"(Sellen)

  "I want to learn sorcery."(Alexis)

"Ahh, a yen for glintstone sorceries? I dare say your proclivities are far from ideal…Oh well, perhaps nurture will defy nature, with a bit of luck. But one must choose one's masters wisely.I was exiled from the Academy of Raya Lucaria, as a reviled, apostate witch. Do you still wish to learn from me?"(Sellen)

  "I still want to learn."(Alexis)

"Well, you are a piece of work. Very well. You are now my protégé in glintstone sorcery. But I refuse to coddle. Or cast kind words. Never. Anticipate grievances, young apprentice."(Sellen)

I nodded and readied my runes for the sorceries.

"Young apprentice, first things first. You are a tadpole when it comes to magic. Infantile. Without the legs to walk. So, to become a sorcerer, first, you must face your ignorance. Now, shall we start learning?"(Sellen)

Sellen presented me with six scrolls, each one had a name and price listed. I picked up the Glintstone Pebble and Glintstone Arc scrolls and handed over 2,500 runes. I then took the scrolls and walked back over to the site of grace. I opened the Glintstone pebble scroll and read a little bit of it. But I couldn't really understand it.

I returned the scroll to my inventory, then opened the menu and navigated to the 'memorize spell' option. I found the Glintstone Pebble spell and selected it, one of my two memory slots filled. A rush of knowledge filled my mind, and I suddenly could comprehend every aspect of the spell. I pulled out the glintstone staff and tried to cast the spell at a wall. I felt an energy within me flow through my arm and the staff into the stone on top. I felt the energy following a memorized set of motions, forming a small glowing blue dart in the air in front of me. The dart then unched and smashed into the wall, leaving a small crater in the stone.

Magic... I just used magic... I love this dream!!!

I got a little carried away with casting the glintstone pebble spell and after a few minutes I began to feel exhausted. Not exhausted physically, but mentally. I sat down at the grace and as the warmth filled me, I felt my mind clear, I felt my soul recover.

Note to self... Don't cast too much magic.

I got up and left the basement of the ruins. I began wandering down the road as the sun set. Another warrior on a horse came running up the road. When I killed him, I noticed a silver light gather around his gauntlets. I had seen this silver light before, it was around my lordsworn greatsword when it was in that chest. I reached down and pulled his gauntlets off and then I put them on.
