Chapter 5: School, part three (16)

  …

After the introduction part of the day was over, the teacher had them all come out of the cssroom with him. Vistilia was rather annoyed at the ck of any true learning experience, even with Gaia’s presence and words she felt like today was a waste of time. Though, she was looking forward to tomorrow. Surely, they would learn things then.

The hallways were rather full, so her css had to wait as the other csses moved on by and the teachers of said other csses showed the kids the school proper. Gaia was rather excited to see the rest of the school. It could be seen in the way that she bounced up and down on her feet. Vistilia was slightly confused as to the reason for this, so she asked.

“Gaia,” Vistilia asked, and Gaia turned to her friend with a raised brow, “why are you so excited now? The tour of the school is just to waste time and show us around for the day,” Vistilia spoke, her honest thoughts pouring out.

“Because,” Gaia said, “if there are any secrets in the building of the school, I bet I can spot them. Then we can hide there and py if we want. Or we can just talk,” Gaia said, her tone equally pyful and empathetic.

Vistilia sighed at this. She simply shook her head in slight exasperation. Gaia was going to be a handful when the two of them grew up, wasn’t she? Vistilia could already see it now. Gaia brings a boy or girl somewhere, and Vistilia having to bring her home when she gets in over her head. It was cliché, yet Vistilia could see it clear as day.

“Okay boys and girls,” the teacher called out as he raised a fist in the air, “let’s go and check out the school itself. It’ll be fun and then we can go to opening of the school year. After that, lunch will be held, okay?” he asked the css, and they all chimed in affirmations.

Vistilia didn’t speak, she only really nodded her head. The girl didn’t really see a need to speak of something that she didn’t really have a decision in. After all, what difference did it make if she went along with this or not.

Vistilia shook her head. That was bad headspace to be in. She hadn’t hated school all the much in her past life. She hadn’t been bullied; she had simply found it boring until high school. Though, she was fairly certain that there was no high school as an American would think of it in this world.

As the css walked down the hallway, the teacher showed off the other cssrooms and how they were different. He showed them all how they were built, how they arranged. He showed them a good bit of everything.

It seemed that all the years that could be considered elementary in her st life were all arranged the same, or close to the same. Each room, while slightly different from each other, was basically the same. The only real differences were the ways that they were constructed.

All the first-year rooms were like her own. That is to say, that they were surprisingly college-like. The floor dipped and had steps to fit the desks. Vistilia wondered if the builders of the school actually knew what they were building. Then again, this pce was designed by people from earth.

The second-year cssrooms looked much the same, the only difference was the color of the walls to the rooms. The warm red and orange greeted her eyes like a fall’s day. In fact, it seemed to have been painted those colors for that reason.

Why? She didn’t know. Maybe it was a theme that the builders or renovators or someone to that effect had decided to paint.

As Her css walked out of the st second year room, Vistilia looked to her right to see Gaia staring at her. she raised a brow at this. the girl had her eyes locked onto her, as if by gravity. Vistilia had been busy with checking out the rooms, so she hadn’t noticed this when this started, yet she felt like the staring had been going on for a bit.

She pulled her eyes away from the little girl by her side to the clock on the side of the hallway as they walked with the rest of her css. It read 11:00 am. Vistilia cursed herself internally. She had really hoped that it was noon. She wanted to eat and get this day over with.

She turned her sight back to her friend as they walked along. Her css was delving into the first of the third-year rooms, when Gaia spoke. Her voice was quiet. Her tone was thin. It was as if she had seen a ghost.

“Vistilia, do you ever get the feeling that something bad will happen to you when you see something for the first time. Or when you’re near something new, and it gives you goosebumps?” she asked, her tone wispy.

“Yes,” Vistilia said, “what brought this up?” she questioned.

“I just get the feeling that something bad will happen in this section of the halls in a year or two,” she said, her voice rearing back to normal somewhat.

“That’s oddly specific,” Vistilia commented with her normally ft look.

Gaia only nodded her head in response, her face turning to the room ahead of them. They were in the back of the css. Despite the frigid air around the white-haired girl, and the bubbly air of Gaia, no one child seemed drawn to them.

As the two of them stepped into the room, Vistilia and Gaia took in the room. The first thing that Vistilia and Gaia noticed was that the floor was ft. In fact, it looked, to Vistilia at least, like a normal cssroom.

The walls were a white that seemed to have been dulled and slightly yellowed with time. The floor was covered with a darkened wood that seemed to rebound under their feet as they walked over it. All in all, it was a strange thing for sure.

Along the walls were different pictures and diagrams of the natural phenomenon of the world, or at least, how the people here saw them. Of course, it wasn’t fully scientific. In the diagrams were pictures of the three goddesses. In many others were pictures of seemingly scientific processes dumbed down for kids.

Such as the water cycle. That seemed to be actually fully documented. Then, next and intermingled with those signs were pictures of different historical figures. Some were ones that she knew of. Others were not.

After a good bit of time moving from third-year room to third-year room, they made their way to the fourth-year rooms. Gaia had yet to feel another weird disturbance. Vistilia herself felt completely normal, so she wasn’t really worried as much as she had been.

As they stepped foot into the fourth-year rooms, the ones that were right next to the main entrance for the first section of the school itself, Vistilia could help but feel a little annoyed. After all, to her and Gaia’s right as they were walking into the first of the fourth-year rooms, she noticed that the adults were only now moving things into the second section of the school.

The second section of the school was where the auditorium was. It was also where the Putloeyk was going to be setting up his speech or whatever it was supposed to be called. It felt cheep to her, that they were only doing this now. Yet, such thoughts were shelved as she walked into the cssroom.
