Since Lin hasn’t been to the other capitals, I create the gate spells and then let her fuel them. Together, we are able to open all four gates at once and keep them open long enough for the guards to go through. It is still stressful to maintain them, so we close them as soon as the guards are through.

  The rulers thank us and then go off to do their own things, so Lin and I head back to the suite. I feed the puppy, then the two of us spend time playing with him until he falls asleep. Once he is asleep, we have a nice quiet lunch together and then fool around a little.

  That only lasts a short while because Lin wants to see the city before we have to leave tomorrow. I certainly am not about to refuse such a simple request, but I don’t want to leave the puppy alone. So, I send Asuna a message and as soon as she gets back to watch the puppy, Lin and I leave.

  We spend the next few hours having a pleasant walk around the city and doing a little shopping. It is mainly a way for us to spend some time together where we won’t get interrupted. Although, Lin does seem to enjoy spending my money, not that I really mind.

  Seeing her happy and smiling is worth a lot more than the value of some stolen gold. She mostly buys clothes, not that she needs them, and I get to watch her try them on. All in all, it is a pleasant and relaxing afternoon, but it ends all too soon.

  We return to the palace, meet up with Asuna and Victoria, and have dinner together. After dinner we sit and talk for a while, discussing the trip to the Magic Kingdom. There shouldn’t be any more stops along the way and meeting with the beastmen is the only uncertainty.

  I doubt they will cause us any problems and after that it is a straight shot to the Magic Kingdom. That is when I expect the problems to happen, I’m just not sure what kind of problems. It is all going to depend on whether or not they manage to identify me.

  I will worry about that when it happens, for now I am going to relax and enjoy my time with Lin. While we are talking, I start handing Victoria demonic beast cores for her to consume. For now, I give her just enough for her to rank up to rank five, but even that changes her.

  She looks just a little older and she grows just a little bit taller, but it took quite a few cores. It is only going to get worse as her rank goes up, I might not have collected enough cores. That means I will have to send her out to collect her own cores, but that raises a question.

  “Victoria, angels aren’t created with weapons and armor, are they? I guess it will be up to me to provide them?”

  Victoria says “That is correct.”

  “Do you have weapon skills already? Or do you need combat training?”

  Victoria says “I have basic combat skills, but training would improve them.”

  “Alright. Training can be arranged. Do you have a preference in what weapon you want to use? Or what type of armor?”

  Victoria says “I don’t. I would hope to develop that through training.”

  Lin says “Why not send her to the peninsula to go through the army’s training?”

  “That’s actually what I was thinking as well. Victoria, is there any problem if you are a large distance away from me?”

  Victoria says “Not at all. I can even go to other worlds if need be.”

  “That’s good, but I hope that isn’t necessary. What about other planes? We have gates to the elemental planes and the shadow plane.”

  Victoria says “Other planes are no problem. In fact, shadow demon cores are just as good for me as demonic ones.”

  “Okay. Then the plan is going to be that I will keep you with me until I run out of cores. Then I will send you to go through my army’s training. Once you have a preference for your weapon and armor, I will craft them for you. After that, you can go hunting in the shadow plane with the kids to help you rank up.”

  Victoria says “That seems like a sound plan.”

  “What about your abilities?”

  Victoria says “I gain basic abilities as I rank up. Oh, I should have an ability from you! Let me try to use it.”

  She gets a look of intense concentration on her face, but nothing happens for almost a minute. Then lightning forms around her hands, but it is wild and chaotic at first. It slowly calms down and starts to look like gloves made of lightning, it is an interesting effect.

  However, the look of concentration doesn’t fade and the gloves slowly extend up her forearms. It finally stops mid-forearm, it looks like a pair of fancy gloves just made of lightning. With a pop the gloves disappear and Victoria smiles at us as she relaxes.

  Victoria says “It triggered the ability! That looks like it will be useful once I rank it up. Anyway, the only other way I can gain abilities is if my patron grants them.”

  “Wait, I can grant you abilities? How do I do that?!”

  Victoria says “I actually don’t know. That was not part of the knowledge that I was born with. You would have to ask someone who has the ability and has used it.”

  “Good idea. Hold on a minute. Seronia?”

  Seronia says “Yes? Are you in trouble again?”

  “No, I’m not in trouble. I wanted to ask you about how to grant abilities to my angel. I figured that with as many angels as I gave you, you should be an expert.”

  Seronia says “Oh, that’s easy enough. You won’t be able to grant her much, you don’t have many compatible abilities. Angels can’t use mana, so you can only grant her abilities that don’t use mana, or those that use divine power. Also, you will lose access to the ability until she dies.”

  “Okay, thanks for the info. Oh, can I grant her spells that I gained from my class?”

  Seronia says “Yes. You can grant her anything you want. She is basically considered to be an extension of you.”

  “Thank you. I will try it out.”

  Seronia gives me a quick rundown on how to grant a power to my angel and I try it out. I pick out a spell I never use and follow the instructions that Seronia gave me. I reach out and touch Victoria’s hand as I will the ability to transfer over to her.

  Ability Lost: Repel Undead!

  “Did it work?”

  Victoria says “Yes, it did. I now have the ability to repel undead. Is that what you intended to give me?”

  “Yes, it is. Wait, is it a spell for you, or an ability?”

  Victoria says “It is an ability.”

  “Well. that’s nice. I just wanted to make sure it worked. Now I will grant you the other spells that I don’t use often.”
