Queen Mavel says “Count me in! I have heard some of it, but would love to hear the full story.”
Queen Estel says “In that case, let’s split dinner into two rooms, one for the girls and one for the boys.”
“That sounds good. I certainly don’t want to hear the story again, it’s embarrassing. Especially the details that I’m sure you’re wanting.”
Queen Estel says “Then it’s a plan! Dinner will be in four hours. The servants will take you to your rooms so that you can freshen up and relax before dinner.”
Mercy looks at me and says “Shopping?”
“Of course!”
Queen Estel says “Don’t you want to get cleaned up?”
Mercy says “We have cleaning stones, it is better than a bath!”
Queen Estel says “Well, alright, but I want a demonstration at dinner!”
After Mercy agrees, we are led by servants to our room so that we will know where it is. Once we know where our room is, the two of us head out into the city to do some shopping. The way Mercy keeps buying things I am starting to think I may need to expand the cabin.
However, the gold she is spending doesn’t matter to me and I am not about to ruin her fun. She has so much fun shopping that we barely make it back to the castle in time for dinner. I find myself having dinner with King Cecil, Emperor Amn, and King Gremshow.
Shiro and Mavel’s daughters apparently decided to join the women’s dinner, not that I blame them. It’s a toss up which would be worse, listening to the women gossip, or listening to Gremshow’s whining. I normally don’t drink, but not long into dinner I start drinking the heaviest alcohol my pouch can produce.
It isn’t strong enough to get me drunk, but it does affect me enough to make the whining less annoying. Luckily, I only have to be polite until we are done eating and am able to excuse myself. The other three are going to chat over drinks, but I can’t take any more of Gremshow.
Mercy isn’t there when I enter our rooms, not that I expected her to be back yet. She will probably be gossiping with the girls for another hour or two at least, if not more. While I am waiting for Mercy, I spend some more time working on my soul palace.
I won’t accomplish much, but every little bit helps and I feel it as soon as Mercy enters the room. When she enters, she is a little bit drunk and feeling very affectionate, which I happily indulge. Once we start, Mercy doesn’t let me stop until she is completely exhausted and passes out.

Luckily, my aura will constantly heal her and keep her from experiencing a hangover. I cuddle up with her and then enter the hallway to do a little exploring, or at least that is the plan. I appear outside the door to the city and just across the hall is the door to the battlefield.
I have permission to enter it now, but I was putting it off until my skills were higher. Come to think of it, my skills haven’t gone up at all since I trained with Everburn. Despite all the practice I have done with the kids and my wives, it seems that isn’t enough.
I should find a world with something to fight and use my skills instead of my magic. That would be the safer plan, but now that I am looking at the door I am finding it hard not to go through. I feel like taking just a quick peek wouldn’t do any harm, it shouldn’t be that dangerous.
In the end, I just can’t resist my curiosity and step across the hallway to the black door. As soon as I touch the door I am on the other side, there is no wait to build a body. Since it is my soul that is transported to the battlefield, there is no need to gather mana or anything.
It is quite surprising and more than a little disorienting, but luckily nothing attacks me. In fact, there is nothing around me, it is just a barren plain as far as the eye can see. This is not what I was expecting, but I didn’t really know what to expect.
My mind had conjured an endless battle covering the entire place, or something like that. Normally I would take to the air to get a look around, but that seems dangerous here. As a soul, I am in my normal form but I am pure white, in the air I would be a huge target.
If this place is as dangerous as Everburn told me, making myself a target is a bad idea. While I can probably survive more soul damage, it isn’t something I want to go through again. For once, I am actually going to do as I have been told and I am going to be careful.
First, I do a large circle around the door to make sure there is nothing close to it. Then, I pick a random direction and start walking, I’m sure that I will find something. Or to be more precise, I am sure that something is going to find me and try to kill me.
I am barely out of sight of the door when I see the first other occupant of the battlefield. It is a large humanoid, but that is all I can tell since it is completely covered in armor. It also has several large shields floating in the air around it, but that is all I have time to see.
A number of swords manifest in mid-air and come flying towards me before I can try to talk. I guess that is to be expected, trying to talk on a battlefield probably isn’t the best idea. I easily throw up a defense that blocks the swords and start to create my own attack.
This is just like being in the soulscape, my imagination is all it takes to create anything I want. In this case, I create a machine gun loaded with armor piercing rounds and open fire. The bullets shred the floating shields, the armor, and the flesh beneath it.

Mental Attack
Level: 8
Wis +16
You are adept at launching mental attacks.
Well, that was easier than expected, I wonder if it was just that weak, or if I am too strong. Or maybe my imagination was just that much more powerful than its was. I already know that my knowledge from my world gives my imagination a huge advantage in soulscape battles.
Whatever the reason, if the enemies are all like that then I have found the perfect place for myself. The loot was exceptionally good as well, I can’t wait to find more enemies and see if that was common. I continue walking in the same direction, it is important that I know the way back.
