Once we are done having fun, I actually remember to ask them my question about the ripples. It turns out that my sensitivity has increased and that is why I can sense the ripples. It is either my evolution, my increased power level, or some combination of the two.
There isn’t much chance of figuring out which it is, but that is enough of an answer for me. It feels good to be able to satisfy my curiosity for once, it hasn’t happened much lately. That makes the time I spend with the goddesses just that much more fun.
However, even after all of that, when I end the soulscape I am still not sleepy at all. Mercy is completely wrapped around me and I doubt I can move without waking her up. That leaves me lying there trying to think of something to do and staring at my hands.
Actually, I end up staring at the two rings on my hands, the storage ring and the hidden dagger. The storage ring I made a long time ago, but I’ve left it alone because of the enchantment to enhance Drain Touch. However, looking at it now, even that is fairly easy for me to improve.
Unfortunately, I still don’t know of a way to extract essence without breaking the core. So, any improvements to Drain Touch are fairly pointless until I figure that out. On the other hand, I can make massive improvements to the other enchantments.
I am pretty sure that I can also get rid of the restriction that prevents organic materials from entering it. Since I can’t think of anything else to do, I go ahead and disenchant it and start re-enchanting it. However, I stop before I am even halfway done and wipe out what I have so far.
I just realized that there was a better way to do it, so I start the enchantments over. The enchantment I was using to create the storage space wasn’t properly using the aspect of the stone. By making some slight changes to the enchantment I am using, I can increase the space created by double.
Considering how much space it would have had to start, that is a serious improvement. Thanks to that, the ring is actually going to have more storage space than my pouch does. Next, I do some experimenting on how to make it allow anything to be stored.
Since I already did the same with the pouch, it doesn’t take me long to get it right. After that, I recreate the enhancement to Drain Touch, with a few improvements, and call it done. Then my eyes turn to the other ring and I realize that I have never looked at the enchantments before.
I always thought that it was shapeshifting from a ring into a dagger, but that’s not the case. In fact, it is a very small ring of holding with just enough space for the dagger. The rest of the enchantments are just to hide that and make it look like a non-magical ring.

I take out the dagger and look at it, but it is enchanted separately from the ring. The only way they go together is that the space in the ring is set to the exact size and shape of the dagger. The dagger is still pretty nice on its own, but it is nowhere near what my sword is.
Since my sword can shapeshift into a matching dagger, I can just swap them out, no changes needed. However, why would I just swap them when I can do so much more now? I take out the dagger, but then I stop to take a look at why I have to shake my hand to summon it.
It turns out to be one of the enchantments, shaking the hand triggers the storage space and also hides the mana usage. By using the physical motion to trigger the enchantment, it reduces the mana used and makes it easier to hide. It is actually fairly brilliant and something that I never would have thought of.
I don’t really need to use my sword anymore, but the idea of having it undetectable appeals to me. It would be great to have for emergencies and I kind of want to make it into an artifact. It doesn’t feel right to have my armor be an artifact when my weapon isn’t one.
I take my sword out of my pouch, without moving my body, and then I disenchant it and the knife. As I am merging the two, I can’t help but wish that I didn’t use all the armatite on the carriage. I want to add more to the sword, but I gave the angel weapons to Mercy earlier.
Her pouch is around here somewhere, so I could go looking for them, but that feels wrong. Instead, I look into my pouch for anything I can use and find the weapon I have been carrying the longest. The dwarven axe I found when I was escaping the pit, I’ve had it forever.
It isn’t enchanted, but it is made with a material that I have never played with before. That just makes it more exciting to use, I get to experiment with several things at once. The axe is extremely heavy for its size, meaning there will be a lot of mass to convert to capacity.
When I merge the axe into the sword, the golden metal gets veins of black running through it. It looks totally awesome and I immediately decide that I need to keep that look. The sword becomes heavy enough that even with my strength I can barely hold it up with one hand.
Even before converting any of the mass, I am pretty sure I could make it into an artifact. I don’t want it to be quite so heavy, but having that much capacity means I will need to use it. That means I need to actually plan out the enchantments before I get started.
The ability to shift into different swords is awesome, but I wonder if I can go farther. Maybe I can make it able to shift into every type of weapon, that would be pretty useful. If I create an enchantment for each type of weapon, that should work and take up a decent amount of space.
If I do it with both divine and mana enchantments, it will be even more powerful. Let’s see, swords, axes, hammers, spears, polearms, what other types can I make? Daggers will be part of the swords, they don’t need their own enchantment, but I can’t think of anything else.
I suppose that I could add bows as well, but I’m not sure if that would work or not. Although, if I do it with an energy bow that doesn’t need arrows, that might work. It is worth a try, if it doesn’t work all it will do is waste a little capacity, that won’t really matter.
I convert the mass until the weight feels comfortable in my hand and then start enchanting. I do the divine enchantments first and then separate the rest of the capacity before starting the others. As usual, I have to go back and make a number of tweaks and changes to get the two types to match up.
