Ep. 1511 Leaving the Desert Part 4

Even so, I still manage to finish the carriage by lunch time, all that’s left is to enchant it. I have a nice picnic style lunch with Mercy and only start enchanting the carriage afterwards. Unfortunately, since I need to create new enchantments I can’t use Divided Mind to keep chatting with Mercy.

She says that she understands and still insists on keeping me company while I work. To be honest, I am amazed that nothing has come up and no one has interrupted us. I thought for sure that something was going to happen to make me delay finishing the carriage.

For the carriage frame, I went with a six wheeled design, about the size of a panel van. At least, that is how big the outside is, the inside will of course be much bigger than that. I am not sure how big just yet, I will have to see how the enchanting goes.

I start with the divine enchantments and separate them once they are done, they only take up about ten percent of the capacity. Next I do the mana enchantments to match up with the divine ones. That is the easy part out of the way, now for the first experimental enchantment.

It is a modified form of my shapeshifting enchantment, I want it to have specific forms saved. Of course, the first form is the carriage itself, but that is the easiest one. The second form is more like a war wagon, it will have archer platforms and probably a ballista on top.

I fully expect that Lizzy will be running around like mad on any battlefield she enters. I don’t have anyone who can really keep up with her, so I will let her drag them with her. That way she will have some backup and not be left on her own once the fighting starts.

In that form, the carriage will be armored and will have blades coming out of the wheels. The carriage will also extend to cover Lizzy in armor, or I guess it would be called barding. Whatever it is called, it will basically turn Lizzy into a tank, as if she wasn’t scary enough already.

Still, this is for war, so if it scares the enemy all the better, I think Lizzy will enjoy that. Although, if I do put a ballista on top of the war wagon, she really will be a tank. That idea really amuses me, so of course that means I am totally going to do it.

The third form will be a stationary one, a fort that Lizzy and any soldiers with her can rest in. That form will be fairly easy, but it is still going to take me a while to figure out. I can’t just create the forms, I have to make the actual changes and then lock them in place.

Unfortunately, that means that to set the armor properly I need Lizzy to come over. Getting her attention is easy enough, but she refuses to come anywhere near one of my experiments. I explain to her what I am doing, but she still doesn’t want anything to do with it.

  Stolen novel; please report.

It takes threatening to get another beast to pull the carriage to get her to stand where I need her. Even then, she refuses to stand still much to the amusement of Mercy and Leylisha. Luckily, the two of them laughing at her distracts Lizzy long enough for me to get the armor fitted.

As soon as it is done, I quickly lock in the measurements and then chase off Lizzy. The next step is to finish all of the basic enchantments that will apply to all of the forms. Then, I need to set up the enchantments that only apply to one of the specific forms.

To keep them from interfering with each other, I create another segregated area for each form. This way, each form will have its own set of enchantments that will activate when the carriage enters that form. It is quite complicated and it takes me a while to smooth everything out, but it does work.

To be honest, I don’t think I could come up with enough enchantments to fill the capacity for just one form. Even with three forms, I am having to add extra fluff enchantments to finish filling it. As I am putting the last touches on the enchantments, I raise another barrier, this one much stronger.

There are a lot more enchantments on the carriage than I put on my armor, I just hope the barrier is enough. There is only one way to find out, so I put the last enchantment on the carriage. It is the most complicated lock that I have created so far and it is the finishing touch.

As soon as I finish it, there is a huge ripple released, ten times bigger than the previous one. Luckily, the barrier holds and keeps the ripple from getting out, but it is slightly painful. The ripple doesn’t fade right away, it bounces around inside the barrier for a while.

It isn’t a sound, but it is similar to how I think it would feel to be inside a rung bell. Still, a little discomfort is a much better option than every god on the continent feeling it. It is odd that I have never felt such a ripple before, it makes me wonder what has changed.

My best guess is that one of my evolutions made me more sensitive and that’s why I can feel them now. Since gods can sense them, maybe it has to do with the fact that I have become stronger. I will have to remember to ask the next time I talk to the goddesses, they might know.

Once the ripples finally fade away, I drop the barrier and call Lizzy back over. Before she even realizes what I am doing, I take a drop of her blood and drop it on the new carriage.

Lizzy says “Ow! What was that for?!”

“To bind the new carriage to you.”

Lizzy says “You could have warned me!”

“After all the trouble you gave me earlier? No chance!”

Lizzy giggles at me, which sounds weird considering her size, and then starts playing with the carriage. Now that it is bonded to her, she can control everything about it, including the enchantments. While Lizzy is playing around and learning what she can do, I head over to the old carriage.

I check that nothing has been left inside, only to find the pile of angel gear I was supposed to give to Myria. I was a little distracted this morning, so I call Mercy over and give it to her instead. Now that the carriage is empty, I make a few more changes to the enchantments.

Since it is for Amn, I make a few improvements and make it easier to use without the bonding. I also make sure that the lock on the enchantments is as good as the one on the new carriage. There really aren’t any of the tower’s secrets left on it, but this should reassure her.
