“There are probably a few things, but I do my best to remember as much as I can.”
Myria says “With your stats as high as they are, shouldn’t your memory be perfect?”
“It doesn’t work that way. The information gets stored, but I have to think of it to access it. The problem is that I tend to focus on what is happening at any given moment. Meaning if I get distracted I have trouble remembering to go back to what I was doing before I got distracted.”
Myria says “That is a problem considering how easily you get distracted!”
“No kidding! At one point I even made a list of things I needed to do, but I keep forgetting to check the list!”
Myria says “That is horrible, but at the same time that is totally you!”
“Yeah, I know. So, anyway. Back to the trials, how were the rewards?”
Myria says “They were pretty amazing considering that my rating for the trial was only a B. All the stats I gained throughout the trial were part of the reward, so my stats went up a lot and I even unlocked a new stat.”
“Oh? What stat?!”
Myria says “I unlocked a stat called charm. I got it while I was dealing with the other factions.”
“That is one I don’t have! Then again, I am not exactly charming.”
Myria says “You have your moments! What extra stats have you unlocked??”
“Um, I have unlocked willpower, luck, toughness, regen, fortitude, and of course leadership.”
Myriad says “Wait, you have luck as a stat?!? What is it at???”
“Oh, it is five hundred and sixty or so.”
Myria says “I hate you! At the same time, that explains so much!!”
“What do you mean?”
Myria says “It explains how so many of your adventures end up with you finding amazing things and it explains how you have managed to survive them!”
“You think that is because of my luck stat?”
Myria says “Absolutely! It is the only thing that makes sense! Think of all the things you have survived that would have killed anyone else! Even how you have become such a unique creature can probably be traced back to your luck!”
“I prefer to think of it as being too stubborn to die. Where others would have given up, or given in to the pain, I keep pushing.”
Myria says “That could very well be true. Maybe think of it as your luck creates an opportunity, but it is still up to you to take that chance.”
The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
“That sounds better. I don’t want to give a single stat credit for everything that has happened to me.”
Myria says “Well, you can’t blame everything on luck. Most of it you have to blame on your curiosity.”
“Anyway, what other rewards did you get?”
Myria says “Well, I got to keep any new skills I learned and any skill levels I earned. At the end I also got a few extra skill increases and a couple of my skills got fused together. I also got an upgrade to my title. That’s it.”
“That’s all? You didn’t get any items or anything?!”
Myria says “Nope! Should I have?”
“My guess is that you would have if you had rated higher.”
Myria says “All I wanted was to pass. Anything more would have meant it taking even longer to finish and I had things to get back to!”
“Fair enough. That is also my concern. I am trying to decide if the rewards will be worth the time spent inside. When I did the captain’s trial the rewards were definitely worth it, but I am not as dependent on my skills as I used to be.”
Myria says “Even if you don’t depend on them, don’t they still help? Not to mention you would gain more stats.”
“While true, my stats are already so high that not much can fight me.”
Myria says “I hate you sometimes! In that case, don’t do the trial since it won’t do much for you.”
“Well, the thing is that when I did the captain’s trial I got some great rewards, including Nived. So, it might be worth doing, but only if I can get a higher rating than you did.”
Myria says “You probably can. The thing I had the most trouble with was getting used to human culture. That and even though I was able to gather people, I didn’t have much idea on how to train them. All I knew was the mage knight training and that doesn’t cover everything an army needs. Although, I did get some skills that will help me with commanding troops and the title gives a bonus to mage knights that I am leading.”
“That will definitely come in handy! When we get back, you should spend some time with Leonarr. It would be good for you to get some experience leading troops in combat. Speaking of that, how many mage knights do we have now?”
Myria says “That have completed training? Around a thousand. There are another few hundred in training and many more waiting for a chance.”
“That’s impressive! Has anyone besides us and Kitara passed the captain’s trial?”
Myria says “So far three others have passed. There was another in the trial when I left, but it is his second attempt.”
“Actually his odds of passing should be higher on the second attempt since he knows what to expect. However, if he can’t pass it this time, letting him make a third attempt is probably pointless.”
Myria says “I agree, but does it really matter?”
“Well, as far as I know only one person can be in the trial at a time.”
Myria says “Yes, that is correct.”
“While it might not matter right now, as more people are ready to attempt the trial it will. I don’t want someone who is ready to attempt it to have to wait for someone on their third or fourth attempt. So it is better to put a rule in place now.”
Myria says “That makes sense, but won’t that discourage people?”
“It might, but it will also make them prepare better before the second attempt. Let’s not ban a third attempt, instead let’s set the rule as they have to go out and gain some merit before a third attempt is allowed.”
Myria says “That sounds good, but what kind of merit?”
“Military merit or something equivalent. Enough to show that they have gotten stronger and are serious about the attempt.”
Myria says “Alright, sounds good. I will tell Kitara later through a soulscape.”
“Is Kitara going to take the commander’s trial?”
Myria says “No. She is content with being the head trainer and she is really good at it. She even gained skills to make her better at training people.”
“Alright, that’s fine. Oh, is Brightfire still building her order of knights?”
Myria says “Yeah she is, but most of her attention has been on building the Queens’ Guard.”
“Then you should also talk to Kitara about maybe doing some joint training with them. The Queens’ Guard as well. In fact, not all of the mage knights need to be in the army. Having some join the knights or the Queens’ Guard would be a good thing. Just check with Leonarr first, but I doubt he will object.”
Myria says “Okay, I will.”
Our conversation is interrupted by Koko appearing in the carriage, without opening the door.
Koko says “Enemies.”
