Ep. 1447 Off to see the Dragon Part 7

Everburn says “Now, one question at a time or you get another training session.”

“Understood. I will try to contain myself, but sometimes my curiosity just runs away with me.”

Everburn says “Well, maybe if I keep you exhausted, it won’t run around as much.”

“That’s a possibility, but not one I am eager to test out.”

Everburn chuckles and says “Then I suggest you keep a leash on your curiosity and only ask one question at a time.”

“Alright. What did you eat to gain the ability to have a class?”

Everburn says “It was a rare fruit I found in the hallway. It was only supposed to give me a soul level, but the ability to gain a class was an unexpected bonus.”

“That must have been quite the surprise!”

Everburn says “Yes, but a pleasant one. It gave me a new path to get stronger other than just waiting to get older.”

“Most dragons only get stronger with age?”

Everburn says “We can level up our soul which increases our strength as it merges with our body, but other than that, yes.”

“I can’t imagine just sitting around waiting to get older to get stronger. It would drive me nuts.”

Everburn says “It isn’t so bad when you can sleep for years at a time.”

“I guess so, but I still wouldn’t be able to stand it. Luckily, even if I become a real dragon, I will have other ways to continue improving my strength.”

Everburn says “That is a good thing since by the way dragons count things you would still be a newborn.”

“That’s fairly depressing. Maybe I don’t want to become a dragon after all.”

Everburn says “You’ve gone rather far along the path to be changing your mind now. Although, it is up to you, you might find something else that suits you.”

“Not a chance! I can’t stand the idea of being a god and having to follow all those stuffy rules! My only other choice is to become a dragon who has power equal to a god. Assuming I can figure out how to live that long.”

Everburn says “I’m sure that you will find a way to stay alive, I have faith in your ingenuity. Just don’t conduct any of your experiments around my cavern!”

“I wouldn’t dream of it! I don’t want to get eaten!”

Everburn says “Good! I look forward to seeing what you become!”

“I have several ideas that I need to test out, but that is going to have to wait. I am not going to rush in this time, I have made that mistake before.”

Everburn says “That is good. Major changes take proper research. Find out as much as you can about spirit before you start playing with it.”

“I plan to. Besides, if I don’t talk to Seronia and Krenocia about it first, they will be pissed at me. I also kind of need their permission before I experiment with it, I promised.”

Everburn says “They made you promise to curtail your experimenting? That was smart of them!”

“Oh, come on! Not you too!”

Everburn laughs and says “Sorry, but it really is fun to tease you. With six mates, I’d think you would be used to it!”

“That is a recent thing and I am still getting used to it, but they do like to tease me quite a bit.”

Everburn says “Well, the sooner you get used to it the better. If you keep letting it get to you the harder it will be to handle six mates. Now, next question?”

“Um, oh yeah, what do you know about golems?”

Everburn says “Golems? I have encountered a few over the years, but I wouldn’t say I know much about them. Why?”

“I have made a number of golems, but I haven’t been able to figure out how to make them able to use magic.”

Everburn says “I know that you can set spells into golems that they can release, but I have never heard of a golem that can actively use magic. That is more along the lines of constructs that mimic living things. A forbidden art in most kingdoms.”

“I’ve tried adding enchantments for the golem to activate, but they don’t work.”

Everburn says “Ah, that I know a little about. It has to do with will, an enchantment needs will to activate, but golems don’t have any. It needs to be more like a magic wand that is built into them. Does that make sense?”

“Not really, no. They are basically the same thing, why would one work and not the other?”

Everburn says “I don’t know. Like I said, I only know a little about golems.”

“Well, I will try it out when I get back and see if it works.”

Everburn says “More experimenting, that must be why you look so excited. Just don’t forget to get permission!”

“I won’t. Although, I will probably try to get them to release me from my promise. There is just too much that I need to figure out to ask permission every single time.”

Everburn says “Good luck with that! So, next question?”

“Actually, I can’t think of any more right now.”

Everburn says “Yes! I was afraid that you would never run out!”

“Just for now, I am sure I will remember more that I wanted to ask.”

Everburn says “Well, while you try and think of more questions, let’s get back to training. Your soul power should have recovered by now.”

Everburn rudely kicks me out of his soulscape before I can think of anything to say. Before I can even open my eyes, I can feel the soul attacks coming towards me. I throw up my defenses as quickly as I can and just barely manage to stop the first wave.

Of course, the second and third waves are right behind that and even more right behind those. It takes me a few minutes before I can even launch a few attacks to weaken Everburn’s attacks. Once I can start counterattacking, the pressure drops a lot on my defenses.

However, I now know better than to let myself relax or get even a little bit cocky. As expected, Everburn soon ramps up his attacks again, pushing me to the edge of what I can handle. Anytime I improve, he matches me exactly and it is really frustrating.

  *DING*

Congratulations! Skill Mental Attack has progressed to level 3!

  Mental Attack

  Level: 3

  Wis +6

You know how to launch mental attacks.

Although, as frustrating as it is, I have to say that Everburn’s training is effective. I am just worried that I won’t be able to keep up for long at the pace he is setting. To help with that, I have decided that I am going to use my unspent points to increase my wisdom.

  *DING*

Add 420 unspent points to Wisdom? Y/N?

  “Yes!”

  *DING*

  Wisdom 1880 > 2300!

As I continue to defend and launch attacks, I don’t feel any difference from raising my wisdom. Everburn said it would help with waste, so the only thing different will probably be how long my energy lasts. That just means that I will be able to train more before I am exhausted, oh joy.
