Which turns out to be really fast, I could probably get close to the speed of a speedboat. Not that I really have a way to measure my speed, but going around the island is at least a mile or two. By my count I was able to circle the island in about four minutes, so maybe twenty miles an hour.

  My math is probably wrong, and that probably isn’t as fast as a speedboat, but it still feels fast. After doing a couple of more laps, I turn south, towards deeper water and take off. I head deeper, following the ocean floor as it drops away from the island rapidly.

  It doesn’t take long for me to be a long way from the island and far deeper than the light reaches. However, I feel no difference whatsoever from being this deep, no pressure at all. I can move just as freely as I did near the surface and it even feels the same.

  To test it further, I turn and swim straight up to the surface, but nothing happens. I don’t feel anything, there is no pain, no sense of pressure changing, nothing at all. It is as if I am just swimming around normally in a pool, to be honest it is a little weird.

  Magic is a wonderful thing, but not knowing how it does things can be a little unsettling at times. However, being able to swim anywhere I like without worry is a pretty cool thing. I am half tempted to go looking for some of the things that tried to hunt me, but that might take a while.

  If I am not back by the time the girls wake up, I will have some explaining to do. They are probably expecting me to pull this kind of stunt, but I would like to disappoint them. Not that I am not going to do things, but that I don’t want them to catch me at it.

  After all, something is only against the rules if you get caught and I am going to try not to get caught. Although, my chances of not getting caught are going to go down once the avatars join us. Not only will they help with the girls’ exhaustion, but it is two more people who can catch me.

  Besides, with them on the girls’ side, I might be the one exhausted and in need of rest. At least, I am pretty sure that is what the girls have in mind and I’m guessing the avatars will take their side. If the goddesses can make the avatars, I am going to be outnumbered six to one.

  That is both exciting and terrifying at the same time, and I am not sure which is stronger. However, things are already in motion and it is too late for second thoughts now. Even if the goddesses can’t make mortal avatars, I have crossed the line with them and can’t go back.

  After the events in the soulscape our relationship is definitely going to change. Not that that is necessarily a bad thing, I mean who can complain about sleeping with two goddesses? However, it is likely to make my life a little more complicated, but at least it won’t be boring.

  Especially considering how much trouble I am likely to get myself into with the two of them. It is a relief to know that they don’t want me to lead the pantheon, but I still don’t want to become a god. Maybe if I can become an ancient god so that I don’t have as many rules I will consider it.

  To do that, first I need to find out what makes a god an ancient and if it can be stolen. My best bet for that kind of information is the dragon, who I need to go visit anyway. However, that could take a while so it will have to wait until after the honeymoon is over.

  Visiting the dragon is going to be the first thing I do once the honeymoon is over. Hopefully, nothing else is going to get in the way of that, but with my luck I never know. I will just have to wait and see what happens, but visiting the dragon is important, I can’t forget about it.

  I have been swimming around the entire time that my mind has been wandering. Obviously, that is a bad idea when I know that there are things around that will try to eat me. Luckily, what finds me while I am distracted is something that I can easily handle, a small group of dragonfish.

  During the fight, I killed one by biting it and for some reason that makes me ravenous. Before I know it, I have eaten everything but their cores, not leaving a single scrap behind. Normally, I much prefer cooked food, but for some reason eating the dragonfish really hits the spot.

  I put the cores away and then turn and swim back to the island before anything else decides to eat me. As I am swimming back, I go back over the fight and how much easier it was to fight in the water. I would say that from now on, there shouldn’t be any environment where I am at a disadvantage.

  The sun is just peeking over the horizon as I get back to the island, meaning I should be safe. I quickly dry off and head in to check on the girls, who are still completely passed out. It looks like I got away with my quick field trip and it worked, the extra energy is gone.

  Now I just need to figure out something to keep me busy until the girls wake up. Even though I ate five dragonfish, I am still a little hungry and that helps me decide what to do. It is still really early, but cooks are normally up this early to start baking for the day.

  So, I gate back to the trade city and head over to Sarah’s inn to look for Arron. As I thought, he is already awake and hard at work in the kitchen getting ready for the day. When he sees me, he doesn’t even ask, he just starts cooking me some breakfast.

  Aaron says “Have a seat, it will be ready in a few minutes. I hope you brought me some more fish! That was really popular!”

  “Actually, I do have some more for you, but this will probably be the last of it.”

  Aaron says “That’s a shame, I am going to have some disappointed customers.”

  “Well, you can talk to the merchants from the southern empire, it might be something they fish and can export.”

  Aaron says “I will have Sarah check into it. Of course, that is probably going to be expensive, but I think people will still want it.”

  “It must have been really popular. I don’t suppose you kept some dishes for me?”

  Aaron says “Of course I did. Although, I think I will use the fresh fish to remake them for you. I can do that while you eat breakfast. Oh, I have some new breakfast dishes for you to try as well.”

  “Fish doesn’t sound too appealing for breakfast.”
