Seronia says “Because they became gods before the current system was in place. The system is what enforces the rules on the gods.”
“Are you talking about a system like mine?”
Krenocia says “No, she isn’t. The system she is referring to is just a force that acts when we break rules. It doesn’t interact with us in any other way.”
“Who put the system in place?”
Seronia says “We don’t know. Either we have forgotten, or we never knew to begin with.”
“How do you know what the rules are?”
Krenocia says “It is part of the knowledge that you get when you ascend.”
“If you kill an ancient god, do you become an ancient god? Would someone who ascended that way still have to follow the rules?”
Krenocia says “Now this line of questions makes sense. You haven’t even decided to become a god and you are already looking for a way around the rules! Unfortunately, the answer to your question is that we don’t know. As far as we know none of the new gods have ever killed an ancient god.”
“Too bad. That would have been good information to know. Do you know what would happen if I became a dragon before ascending?”
Seronia says “No idea. As far as the two of us know, there has never been a dragon god. However, you should keep in mind that our information is extremely limited.”
“That’s alright. It isn’t like I can go ask one of the gods on the mainland these questions. I will wait and ask the dragon the next time I visit him.”
Krenocia says “That’s probably the best plan. It might even know more about us gods than we do.”
Seronia says “That is likely considering how much knowledge we have lost.”
“Alright. In that case, I don’t have any more questions right now.”
Krenocia says “Good. I want to get to testing!”
Seronia says “You sound just like Ash when he’s been given permission to experiment!”
Krenocia says “I do not! You take that back!”
My first thought is to stop them from fighting again, but then I reconsider after another thought hits me. They, or rather their avatars, are soon going to be joining us, so I can consider them as my women. At least partially, which means that it is totally okay for me to want to enjoy watching them fight.
The only drawback is that they still have their clothes on, but I still have a good show to watch. I could probably force their clothes to disappear since this is my soulscape, but that would turn both of them against me. So, I sit back and just watch without interfering, like a good little boy.

They are fighting, but I can tell that it isn’t serious, more like they are playing around. As I watch, I keep catching them glancing my way, they are doing this on purpose. They can easily tell that I am enjoying the show, but they are not showing any sign of stopping.
“Just out of curiosity, can I expect your avatars to act like you two?”
Seronia says “Their personalities will be based on parts of ours, but they won’t be exactly the same. At least, that is the case for our normal avatars. I would expect the mortal avatars would be the same, maybe more so.”
Krenocia says “That is just at first. The longer they are around the more different from us they will become. Their experiences will shape their personalities. It is possible that when they die and we reabsorb them it will alter our personalities.”
“Does that worry you?”
Krenocia says “Not really. Through them, we will experience everything that they did in their lives. Those experiences, if they are strong enough, can help us change for the better. So make sure to treat our avatars well, we will eventually know everything you do to them.”
“Of course I will treat them well! My wives would kill me if I didn’t!”
Seronia says “That’s true enough and very reassuring.”
“My concern is if they will have their own personalities, how can we be sure that they will be willing to share? For that matter, are they even going to be interested in me?”
Krenocia says “Are you kidding?! They will be made from us, so of course they will be interested in you! As for the sharing, that might be a little less of a sure thing, but it should work itself out.”
Seronia says “We will do our best to make sure that they have our willingness to share. Even if that doesn’t work, I am confident that Lin will handle things. That is, if it even works.”
Krenocia says “I am pretty confident that we can make it work. Before, we never had the power to spare to play around with avatars, but I always had this feeling that there were more options than what we were using.”
Seronia says “I hope you are right.”
“I hope so too. Anyway, I will discuss things with the girls in the morning. Oh, just to be clear, even if I do agree to become a god, I will not be the pantheon leader.”
Seronia says “Leader?!?”
Krenocia says “You think we want you to lead our pantheon?!”
The two goddesses turn to look at each other, then Krenocia smirks a little at Seronia. A few seconds later, they both start laughing, quietly at first but quickly gaining in volume. Soon they are laughing as hard as they can, clutching their sides, and leaning against each other.
I don’t know what reaction I was expecting from them, but it certainly wasn’t this one. By the time they start to calm their laughter I am starting to feel a little offended. It still takes them a few more minutes to stop laughing and catch their breath.
Krenocia says “Ash, we wouldn’t make you the leader of the pantheon if you were the last male god left in the world! Just making you a god is risky enough, making you our leader would guarantee chaos! Now, as your wives we would obey you in some aspects, but not when it comes to the business of the pantheon.”
Seronia says “We will stay the leaders of the pantheon. The only one we might consider giving the job to would be Lin.”
Krenocia says “Yeah, Lin has the right mentality and a good head on her shoulders. If she wanted the job, we would consider it. Although, she is probably going to have her hands full keeping you out of trouble.”
Seronia says “Yeah, that will be a full time job all on its own! Sister, I think he is ignoring us.”
Krenocia says “I think you are right. Maybe our laughter offended him?”
Seronia says “You mean he didn’t say that to make us laugh? Was he actually serious?!”
Krenocia says “I think that maybe he was! He must think we are crazy! Either that or he is!”
Seronia says “Well, we already know that he is crazy, but he also seems to think that we are as well!”
“Alright, that’s enough!”
