Chapter 14 Lava ruin tournament round 1 part 2

Sky raced towards the first centipede in view. Once in range Sky, unleashed a

combination attack, but the centipede avoided it like it was nothing.

Sky was unable to get any where with his combination attack, so instead

he tried to use his advance wind skill. All the skill did was push the

centipede back with out even doing a single point of damage.

While watching Sky, Shadow seen that Sky was not agile enough to hit

the centipede. Since Shadow was more agile, he ran towards the centipede.

Biting down on the centipede’s head Shadow dealt the first blow.

Sky took a closer look at what Shadow was doing and soon realized a huge

problem. Yes Shadow had dealt damage, however the amount was the

problem. Shadow had only dealt one nine hundredth of damage.

Put simple, not only were these things very nimble, they had a crazy

  amount of defense to boot.

By chance one of the attacks from Sky’s combination attack landed. Sky now

understood why Shadow’s attack did so little damage. The centipede felt

  like hitting rubber.

Shadow also manages to scratch the centipede with his claws, but this does

the same amount of damage as his fangs. Shadow looks over at Sky with a

look of doubt. Shadow feels that it would not be possible to win the fight

at this rate, this is because they would run out of resources for their skills

long before the fight could finish.

(Why are they letting us just attack them like this?) Sky wonders to

himself. Just then the centipede he is fighting decides to fight back.

Swiveling the back and of its body, the centipede whips Sky, sending

him up into the air. While in the air Sky can see the centipede opening its

mouth wide enough to swallow a large rabbit. Inside the centipede’s

mouth are razor sharp fangs. With the way he is rotating in the air,

Sky knows he is going to land head first into the centipede’s mouth.

Sky can tell that his head will just barely fit inside.

Shadow does not have much time to think, he needs to do everything

in his power to save Sky. Shadow tackles the centipede out of the way.

The tackle does even less damage then his claws and fangs. Leaping

into the air, Shadow tries his best for Sky to land feet first onto his

  back.

Sky felt like that was one of the most terrifying experiences of his life.

“Thank you so much Shadow!” Sky embraces Shadow while showing

his thanks, and also pats him on the head repeatedly.

There are three of these things, and neither Sky, nor Shadow know

how much damage they are capable of giving.

While still mounted to Shadow, Sky decides to attempt his combination

attacks with the added agility from Shadow as his mount. Both shadow

and Sky are attacking the centipede in conjunction. With the speed

boost from Shadow, Sky is managing to do about the same amount

of damage Shadow was doing. Deciding to take a chance Sky and

Shadow use art of the wolves. This doubles the amount of damage

they are doing, but it is no where near enough. Shadow feels really

close and in sync with Sky. Suddenly Shadow feels his body vibrating.

Sky suddenly has a strange sensation, it is sort of like his whole body

is a sleep, but it is also like when you hold a vibrating object. Sky’s

astral energy starts to drop rapidly.

Shadow can feel is mind slipping out of his body, not only that, but

his body is turning transparent, and the vibration feeling has grown

  much stronger.

Sky can see Shadow starting to fade away from under himself.

“Shadow, are you alright!? What is happening!?.” Sky’s voice

  showing both panic and concern.

Sky can feel his body growing warmer and warmer. Shadow

starts to hear the thoughts in Sky’s head. As Sky’s astral

energy reaches 25 Shadow’s body has completely vanished.

Tears form in Sky’s eyes, Shadow why did you have to die

  now of all times.

Sky suddenly hears an unfamiliar voice in his head. “I am not

dead stupid!” “What the, who said that?” Sky ask. “It is me Shadow,

how could you not realize that, when I said I was not dead?” Shadow

questions Sky in a manner that makes Sky feel dumbfounded. “Sorry

it is just that your body is gone.” Shadow laughs at Sky’s comment.

“Wait a minute! Since when could you talk?” Sky ask Shadow while

he is in shock from the realization. “I can not, we are conversing in

  your head.”

After finishing their conversation, Sky can feel black hair growing all

over his body, or that is what he thought at first. What was really happening

was that Sky was growing fur across every inch of his body. Once the

fur had fully formed, Sky felt the shape of his body changing. Sky’s

teeth were replaced with fangs, his face now had a muzzle, and his

nails had become claws. Sky’s astral energy had hit zero.

“Well Shadow we only have thirty minutes, lets do our best to finish them off.”

Sky could hear Shadow agreeing with what was just said.

Sky ran towards the centipede with his new body. The speed at which he ran

was ten times the speed that Shadow normally could run. Attacking with

a combination attack, Sky soon realized it was not the same attack he was

use to. What happened instead was that his claws lashed out tearing into

the centipede. The damage was much greater now. The speed bonus

from the claws had been one of these factors, but the claws were now

being used in the combination skill instead of just Shadow’s normal

claw attacks, which farther increased the damage output.

As hard as the centipede’s tried they where just no match for the new creature.

Shadow, and Sky heard the announcers voice. “And the winder is Sky Soar-High!”

Aurora charged up an advance ice attack. Aurora soon realized just how great of

a mistake she had made at that moment. The liquid metal spiders tripled in size.

“What have I done?” Aurora fear and anger in the question she had asked, the

anger was directed towards herself. One of the spiders sent a string of web towards

were the vibration had come from. Aurora seen it coming, and quickly dogged out

  of the way.

The spiders could communicate with one another by vibrating the liquid metal

their bodies were composed of. The liquid metal also gave off a distinctive frequency,

which the spiders could tell apart from all other things. The manner of vibrations

from the liquid metal had been used to form their own unique language. “Enemy

over there.” The spider that had just tried to attack Aurora, giving the sensation

  to its fellow allies.

As the spiders grew closer to her, Aurora decided to equip a heavy metal hammer.

Aurora had asked Violet to make this for her. Aurora swings down the hammer,

which is just in time to. The spiders had nearly reached their prey when a sudden

strong vibration send them flying backwards. Aurora really wishes that she could

use her skill to have one of the spiders turn on the others, however this is not

Possible. The only reason that such a thing could not be done was because

these creatures do not hear sound.

Adapting to the new situation, the liquid metal spiders head backwards as fast as

possible. The spiders try to come up with an idea to combat that attack. “Let

only one of us approach at a time.” After that idea was transmitted, it was decided

that the spider that first attack would be the one to do this.

Aurora seen one of the spiders heading towards her, and this time it was moving

At a much faster rate of speed. Aurora was unable to swing the metal hammer

to the ground, the reason for this, was how fast the spider got to her. Aurora

could only do one thing, swing the hammer at the spider. A direct hit, but instead

of doing damage the metal hammer begins to melt.

“No way! Now I have no means to defend myself!” Aurora starting to panic says

these words with a shocked voice. The spider quickly retaliates. Letting lose a

string of web, which Aurora has no means to doge, the spider makes a direct

hit. Aurora screams very loudly, which confuses the spider and it runs away.

An idea suddenly occurs to Aurora. (What if I could manipulate sound?)

First Aurora starts to sing, this is to get an idea of how pitch works. Next

Aurora changes her voice, from louder, to softer, and back again. Not only is

She changing her voice from softer to louder and back again, she is also

using many different types of voices, just like a voice actor would.

As the spider returned to attack again, Aurora used her new skill to stun the spider.

Now that the spider was not moving, Aurora watched the other spiders and noticed

that their bodies vibrated in a certain pattern, and soon realized that this pattern was

their own unique language. Aurora now knew what she had to do, but needed time

to grasp the spiders language. It took a few hours to figure out, and the spider she

had stunned had long since left where she was standing. Aurora was smart enough

to stay still for the time being, so that none of the spiders would find her.

Using both her new skill and the understanding of the spider language, Aurora

convinced the spider she had stunned earlier, that the other spiders were its

enemies. Attacking and eating one of its fellow spiders, the liquid spider grows

bigger, and it continues to grow as it eats the other spiders with ease, due to its

  increased size.

Now Aurora only has one spider to deal with. Using different pitches and frequencies,

Aurora does massive damage to the liquid metal spider, until it can no longer move

from its spot. Aurora then manipulates sound until it causes the ground around

the spider to open up, and lava soon fills it. The liquid metal spider can feel its

body hardening. Once the spider has hardened completely, Aurora takes out

what remains of the hammer and smashes it to bits.

Aurora proud of her new skill and her victory waits for the announcement.

“And the winner is Aurora Rose-song.”
