XVIII: STORM

“Magnus?” Little Jaiya innocently beckoned as the World-Breaker found himself standing at the edge of the small creek where he had landed before breaking Crix, his TRUE home world, a cycle ago.

“What?” Magnus huffed in confusion as he looked at his seemingly 'peaceful' surroundings whilst the Crixan Sun, Dros, began to set off in the distance.

“MAGNUS???” Little Jaiya, causing the World-Breaker’s eyes to widen.

“JAIYA,” Magnus then uttered as he slowly turned around to see the young Crixan Girl he had killed… Along with the rest of their species all on account of Emperor Alixandr Corvinux Voltair’s wicked false orders… LIES.

“Juh-Jaiya?” Magnus stuttered in confusion as he immediately fell down to his knees on the soil that made up the creek’s edge.

“Grand greetings… World-Breaker,” Jaiya said plainly as Magnus stared at her with tears beginning to form in his bloodshot eyes. “How have you been keeping?”

“Why? Why do you still keep doing this to me?”

  “Why do you think, World-Breaker???”

  “I… Do not know.”

“Yes, you do. Do not lie to me, World-Breaker… I do not like it when you lie.”

Letting his brow quiver, Magnus released, “I… I know why you still do this.”

“Do you? If so, then please… ENLIGHTEN ME.”

“Because you wish to punish me. Punish me for my GRAVE crimes that I have committed not just against you or your race…”

“You mean OUR race, World-Breaker?” Jaiya corrected.

“ALL OF THE RACES. All of the races that I… I…”

  “DECIMATED???”

The World-Breaker remained silent as he lowered his haggard head drearily.

“You possess a power, Magnus… A GODLY power,” Jaiya informed whilst looking upon the former intergalactic peacekeeper. “A power that neither you, nor any of the other Galactic Deciders, are worthy enough to possess… And yet, you all possess it. For what reason? I do not know. Tis a farce. A sickening jest…”

Looking down at his open palms, Magnus thought about all of the planets that he solely destroyed over the past ten cycles as Jaiya continued, “They have broken yet another world, Magnus. They still search for you. Ever since you first broke away from your oath as a Galactic Decider, slaughtered a grand amount of their Emperor’s Knights, laid ruin to a grand part of Voltaira, and thrusted yourself into exile… The Nine STILL search for you.”

“I know,” Magnus quivered as he looked back down at his hands.

“Then why do you still run, World-Breaker??? Why do you hide yourself away whilst your former kinsmen spread death and destruction all across the galaxy?”

  “You know why.”

“Yes. I do. I just want you to tell me.”

Magnus now looked dead ahead at Jaiya with a broken look in his eye.

Wanting to speak out against ‘her’ but knowing this would ultimately fail in his favor (as it always did), Magnus just lowered his head again like a cowering animal.

“I cannot face them,” the Breaker of Worlds then uttered as Jaiya continued to look upon him in grand disappointment. “They are too strong. Too… POWERFUL.”

“Tis a lie, Magnus. You know that.”

“I swore off violence. I made an oath to myself.”

“An oath that MUST be broken if you TRULY wish for all of the senseless killings… AND BREAKINGS to cease INDEFINITELY.”

Magnus narrowed his eyes bitterly at Jaiya as she continued, “If you truly wish for Voltair to cease as well.”

The World-Breaker lowered his brow upon hearing the emperor’s ‘royal’ title and name.

A man who Magnus had praised and commended like a god… But he was not a ‘god’.

Alixandr Corvinux Voltair was a manipulative monster who hungered for only one thing: POWER.

“You wish to stop Voltair, do you not, World-Breaker?” Jaiya asked. “The ONE SOLE BEING who made you DESTROY your own home world and race. The same being who stole you and the other nine deciders from Crix when you were all mere childlings? The SAME BEING who, for TEN CYCLES, made you purposely BREAK other innocent worlds and life-forms… LIKE ME?”

“Stop it,” Magnus tearfully pleaded through gritted teeth. “I beg of you. Please… STOP.”

“Did you stop, World-Breaker? When you were breaking worlds and annihilating WHOLE RACES did you, for once, ever stop? Did you??? DID YOU?!?!”

A loud clash of thunder clattered in the dark storm clouds that now loomed harshly overhead seemingly out of nowhere.

Bolts of lightning then ripped across the cloudy skyways as high speed winds tore across the trees.

As Magnus looked around at this fast approaching ‘dark storm’, the ground began to crackle and ripple beneath his knees.

Magnus now had an alarmed expression on his chiseled, bearded face whilst Jaiya continued to spout, “DID YOU STOP, WORLD-BREAKER?! DID YOU?! DID YOU?!?!?!”

Overcome with a dreadful fear that wrapped itself around his heart like a vise-grip, Magnus looked up to the stormy skies above and saw dark images of Braako and the other eight Galactic Deciders glaring down upon him with Emperor Voltair looming behind the nine like some kind of ‘shadowy colossus’.

One of pain, death, deceit… AND CHAOS.

“DID YOU STOP, WORLD-BREAKER?! DID YOU EVER THRACKING STOP?! ANSWER MEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!” Jaiya raged in a dark, and almost ‘demon-like’ sounding voice whilst Magnus let out a truly horrified scream as planet Crix exploded into hundreds of jagged and inflamed rocky clusters.
