XV: TORMENT

Still located in the same spot on the desolate moon that he was in before he put on Lero’s Holo-Fier, Magnus reopened his eyes with a whole new outlook on his life-cycle that was shrouded in nothing but deceit, betrayal… AND LIES.

All of these things were caused by people who Magnus, at one time, considered himself to be the closest to, but this also proved to be a lie as well… ONE BIG THRACKING LIE.

Removing the Holo-Fier from around his head with use of his telekinesis, and encasing it in a protective shield of gravity, Magnus gritted his teeth and lowered his brow as he thought about everything that he had discovered from his murdered Keeper’s secret memories.

  The Kren were a lie.

All of the decidings… AND BREAKINGS of supposed ‘Kren-aligned worlds’ were a lie.

And his upbringing… His true origin… WAS A LIE.

Emperor Voltair allowed the Galactic Deciders to destroy their home world and species unknowingly.

They were all brought up to believe that they were Voltairan when… THEY WERE CRIXANS.

Crixans who were STOLEN from their families milli-cycles after their strange and mysterious births approximately thirty-cycles ago.

The Galactic Deciders were not heroes.

  They were not saviors.

  They were…

  DESTROYERS!

  MURDERERS!

  Tis what we are.

  What I am!

  WHAT! I! AM!

  I… I do not understand.

I do not understand why Emperor Voltair made us all this way.

Why he made us believe in some thracking lie that he himself formulated when we were just childlings.

  Tis makes no sense.

  No sense at…

“Tis DOES make sense though, Magnus.” the mysterious little girl’s voice ushered in suddenly within the World-Breaker’s distorted brain.

  Juh-Jaiya?

“Yes, Magnus. Tis I. Jaiya. The young Crixan childling girl that YOU killed when YOU broke my world… OUR WORLD.”

  I… I did not know…

“No. That you did not… BUT YOU DO NOW.”

I do not believe it. Tis… Tis does not seem real.

“‘Twas real, Magnus… ‘TWAS ALL REAL. All of the breakings. All of the death and destruction that you and the other nine Galactic Deciders caused all over the galaxy during the past ten cycles. It was all real… And not just perpetrated by you either, but by…”

  VOLTAIR.

“Yes. Alixandr Corvinux Voltair. Grand Emperor of the Voltairan Empire. SOLE RULER of planet Voltair. The Grand Deceiver. He lied to you, Magnus. He lied to all of you. His hands are as equally as drenched in the blood of TRILLIONS of innocent life-forms as yours are. You cannot change the past… BUT YOU CAN CHANGE THE FUTURE. You seek ‘redemption’, yes?”

  Yes… I… I do, but I cannot achieve such a prize.

  “You can, Magnus… YOU CAN.”

  How?

“By making sure that Emperor Voltair’s GRAND PLAN is stopped… ONCE AND FOR ALL. You must destroy him, Magnus… YOU MUST DESTROY HIM.”

Destroy him, you say? Like I destroyed Crix and the hundreds of other worlds during my time as a Galactic Decider?

“Those destructions were not justified, Magnus, but this one most certainly is.”

Destruction is destruction. You cannot justify it.

  “What are you saying, World-Breaker?”

I am saying that… Urgh… Oh, thrack off! Why do I even speak with you? You are not even real! Not anymore! You are dead! DEAD!!! Dead because I killed you! I KILLED YOU!!!

“You are right about two things, Magnus. I am dead. I am dead because of you.”

  ‘Twas not my fault though…

  “‘Twas, World-Breaker… ‘TWAS.”

  No. NO. Nuh-No…

  “Yes, World-Breaker… YES.”

  Stop calling me that.

  “World-Breaker.”

I said, STOP calling me that.

  “WORLD-BREAKER!”

Please. I am begging you. Stop calling me--

  “WORLD-BREAKER! WORLD-BREAKER! WORLD-BREAKER!!! MAGNUS! THE WORLD-BREAKER!!!!”

  URGH-GAH! STOP CALLING ME THAAAAAAAAAAAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  “RRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!”

  KA-BLAM!!!!!!!!

In the heat of his anger over all the lies of the emperor, and the constant taunting torments of Little Jaiya (or the ‘madness induced illusion’ that claimed to be the dead and gone Crixan girl) Magnus unleashed his rage by breaking the desolate moon.

Rendering it to nothing but clumps of jagged rock, a massive dust cloud had formed immediately in its wake.

Then, once the dust cloud had settled and cleared, all that remained in the center of the decimated moon was a glowing bright, stark-white-eyed and now completely nude due to shredding away his tainted Galactic Decider’s uniform, Magnus… THE WORLD-BREAKER.
