Interlude: The map
Oscar Velasquez ran through the halls of the ship with a stack of paper in his hand. He stepped over a bulkhead and ran up a steep set of stairs. He stopped a man in a peaked cap. “Excuse me, sir, do you know where the war room is?” The man turned to him and said, “Two decks up and down the hall to the left.” Velasquez said, “Thank you, sir,” and ran off up the steep stairs and turned down the hall, where a small sign hung over the door that read “War Room.” he opened the bulkhead and stepped inside. The room was lit by a large window showing the city below, covered in snow. A tall, lightly bearded man with piercing pale green eyes with a scar on the side of his face sat in a chair, looking over a map of the country with four pieces on it: a small sword and a flower sat over where Dreynas was located on the map, and a set of prayer beads over Serinissima. And a little wooden boat over the Lorategia on the map. He stood up, standing a whole head and a half taller than Oscar, his long black hair braided and accessorized with a clip behind his head bearing a silver symbol of a laurel wreath with a flower in the center, a sword at his hip, a white scabbard with a rose pattern on the guard. Oscar Velasquez saluted him and said, “Peregrine has been apprehended, sir. Should we move to retrieve?” the green eyed man said calmly, his tone unintentionally imposing, “No, I have faith in Peregrine and the tools at their disposal.” he walked over to the table, picked up the Prayer beads, and moved them to Waterfront and set them down gently “External winds blow on the board at this time, we shall stay our hand from interference” The green eyed man walked over to Oscar and placed his hand on his shoulder “You did good Pfc.Velasquez” he reached into his coat and pulled a small ticket and handed it to Velasquez “Here get yourself something extra from the mess hall tonight” Velasquez took the ticket from the man hand trembling and saluted before exiting room closing the door behind him.
