With the appearance of the void being, the empty tearing within his soul paused. For a brief beautiful moment, he existed between pain and discomfort, sliding along that narrow knifes edge. The Goddess pushed back.
“Who are you interloper?” The goddess boomed, light pushing back against the darkness, enveloping Ozzy and continuing onward but stopping short just shy of the void being.
As the light passed over him he felt the tearing begin anew. No longer in the presence of the void beings protective darkness, he was splayed out flat before the goddess to do with what she willed. To twist as she pleased.
“It matters not who I am, solely why I have come.” The void being, voice clear and calm, walked forward. With each step he spread darkness across the space as he gradually closed the distance towards Ozzy.
“You have no claim here, and thus you have no grounds by which to enter my domain monster.” The Goddess spat, her visage growing brighter and brighter till Ozzy couldn’t even bear to look at her.
The Void being ignored, the Goddess turning to face Ozzy, a space of darkness somehow deeper and more intense than the rest of the darkness that made up his features, forming into the shape of a smile.
“Good to see you again Ozzy. Though I thought it might have been a time longer than this. “The Void being said, smiling his strange smile.
Unable to speak, Ozzy just watch as the Void being is stared at him, with that creepy smile of utter darkness.
“You dare ignore me, monster?!” The Goddess shouted, her visage shifting as the light around her literally bent and shook as she raged at the void being.
Looking from the Goddess back to Ozzy, the Void being gave him a Cheshire grin, jerking a thumb of pure darkness at the Goddess while staring at Ozzy as if saying, "Get a load of this loser.”
The Goddess seethed, the air around her vibrating as she took a step forward of her own at her size ending up directly in front of Ozzy in the Void being. Towering over the void being and Ozzy in equal celestial measure.
“Begone from my domain. Remove yourself from my affairs and from the life of my disciple. Do these things and I will forgive this trespass. If not, you will force my hand and I will invoke the last clause within the treatise my of heaven, and you will fall under an onslaught of divinity. “She boomed, an armor set as ornate as carved temple walls forming upon her skin, giving her the visage of a celestial destroyer.
“Your empty threats are tiresome, little god” The Void being said, the amusement and his casual approachability fleeing before him as he met the gods confrontation.
“You speak as though you carry that power. Yet I have done nothing to give you any. If you seek to call for aid and fight me, then you will fade nameless into the Hereafter. Not even your most devout will be able to remember the face of a god lost in the darkness. Abandoned by her kin.” He called out in kind, his words echoing off of invisible walls and falling upon Ozzy and the Goddess like the shards of a dark promise.
Light began twisting and bending anew as the Goddess stopped to laugh, brilliant tears of light escaping her glowing eyes as she looked as though she genuinely found the situation hilarious.
“Forgive me monster” She chuckled. “But I am slow to see how one of the young scions of darkness believes it advisable to threaten a goddess at the height of her order?” She asked for beginning confidently and full of arrogance, only for her words to slowly trail off as she witnessed a transformation.

Slowly the Void being began shifting forms moving out of his comfy mid-century casual wear to exist solely as a being of Void stuff. Embracing his nature, he cast off his human similarities letting his form billow freely into the undulating shapes and masses. Growing and growing, pushing against the light, given off by the goddess he grew to the point of rivaling her in mass. Then before she could even begin to accept him as an equal his growth continued.
Fighting back against the darkness that sought to consume her the Goddess pushed out with a pulse of light. Bringing new day to the space around her and looking like it would continue on to cleanse the darkness. The pulse stopped dead, running into not just darkness, but a void that consumed all.
“I am no Scion of darkness. Wench. I am the cold that freezes all. The dark that swallows all light. The emptiness which encroaches. I am the void child, the second son of darkness.” Space shook, light retreating to hide within the shrinking influence of the goddess as the void being spoke.
Quiet now, the goddesses gaze gave away the panic Ozzy knew she must have been feeling. Not knowing anything about gods was generally a hinderance for Ozzy, though it was easy to tell at least in this instance that bigger definitely meant better. This could totally have fit in monsterverse. Ozzy thought, the scene rekindling childhood memories of sitting in front of the tv and watching Godzilla films.
Silence stretched as the goddess, panicking eyes or no, refused to back down. She stood like a shining bulwark of faith, brilliant armor shining resplendently before the tide of undulating limbs and darkness.
The void being took a creeping step forward. Pressing himself into the circle of remaining light and devouring it. The goddess flinched. It was all it took for Ozzy to know she’d lost.
Backpedaling the goddess put distance between herself and the void being. Perhaps not caring what she did so long as she just left the void being turned its enormous bulk around. It moved ponderously, each step sending rippling shockwaves into the darkness.
Slowly the void being began to shrink back down. Consolidating itself into the now familiar green wool sweater and slacks.
“I don’t suppose you could manage to fix that artifact on your own?” The void being asked, and though he couldn’t see any smile in the darkness Ozzy could hear the mirth of the monster’s voice.
“I might be able to manage, but I would definitely love the help.” Ozzy began to joke, but a searing pain in his abdomen shut him right up.
“That would be the divine core trying to work its way into your soul.” The void being clicked his tongue. Peering at Ozzy like he was a peculiar specimen on an exam table.
“You know…” The void being began.
“I feel like you’re going to try and sell me on some dangerous experiment.” Ozzy said. Not liking the vibe, he was getting from his savior one bit.
“Well you wouldn’t be entirely incorrect in that assumption.” The void being shrugged.
“What’s the idea?” Ozzy asked, sighing loudly in exasperation before a stabbing pain in his gut had him raking the breath back in.
“Well we might-” The void being was cut off as an explosion ripped through the space. “Bother.” It muttered, and turning from Ozzy began his regrowth to combat size.
“I had thought we might put this foolishness behind us.” The void being boomed upwards.
“Were it possible I might have let you keep him. I have a need for agents in Myreluck however. I cannot part with the gunslinger.” The goddess shouted back though she was lost to the darkness, and Ozzy had no chance of seeing her, even with his ability that gave him void sight.
“Then come and fight.” The void being, voice full of irritation boomed back into the darkness.
“But I cannot. I’m still waiting on a friend after all.” The goddess said, and air of smugness returning to her voice.
The moments passed slowly. Darkness erasing any sense of time Ozzy could hold onto. His only method of keeping track gradually losing out as counting his breaths stole all of his energy.
The void being was no longer playing with the Gods, his body releasing a wave after wave of power as he waited for his quarry to arrive. They never came. He raged alone, burning mana and strutting about aimlessly as he waited.
“Come along little Gods.” The void being boomed, “I cannot wait around for any more of your slow and thoughtless brethren.”
The reaction was immediate. Three beings slamming into reality in front of the void being like they’d been hidden there this whole time. The trio practically burned with power.
The goddess of light had literally gone and grabbed her older brothers. The two deities beside her appearing as dumb and invested in her bad decisions as she was.
“You will perish alone Monsters.” The god to the left shouted, his greeting more of a threat than actual introduction.
“We shall see.” The void being called back, readying himself, and charging.
