Pov: Vik
Seeing her status, I wanted to ask the system about her physique. Before I could, a notification sounded in my head.
“DING HOST, YOUR DISCIPLE LU XIAORAN IS UNDER ATTACK.”
“DING HOST, YOUR DISCIPLE ROMAN IS UNDER ATTACK.”
The notifications sent panic through my body. I was surprised by the sudden warning. I already knew that Lu Xiaoran and Roman might face some problems, but the attack confirmed my suspicion that Lin Chen was involved in the disappearance of the missing villagers.
I quickly got alert and told Lina, “Disciple, today’s class ends here. I have an important matter to attend to. I will teleport you back to the manor. There, Sherry will take care of you. If you need anything, you can tell me through this system watch. It has many other features, but I will explain them later.”
With that, I teleported her back to the mansion. There, I found Sherry preparing food for everyone after I ordered her to take care of the manor. I stepped outside and talked with the system, gathering more information about Lu Xiaoran and Roman.
Vik: “System, can you tell me more about this attack and the situation of my disciples? I think they are strong enough to handle any attack, and even if they are losing, they can still escape. But I haven’t heard anything from them since they didn’t contact me.”
System: “This isn't their fault, host. Your disciples are in a place where the laws of this world are suppressed. Communication from that place is very difficult, and further restrictions ensure that no messages can escape. But I was able to get the message that your disciples are being attacked.”
Hearing the system’s words made me a little scared. I didn’t want my disciples to be in any danger. Without wasting time, I teleported, tearing the space around me and opening a rift toward Azure Mountain.
However, my attempt failed. It was as if the space around Azure Mountain was blocked by something. Instead of forcing my way through, I decided to travel through the air. I flew quickly toward Azure Mountain, breaking the sound barrier in seconds.
Pov: Third Person
An hour before Vik received the warning message from the system, both of his disciples, Lu Xiaoran and Roman, were headed toward the villages at Azure Mountain. They were in good condition since they hadn’t been attacked yet.
Lu Xiaoran and Roman walked toward the end of a mountain road. At the end of the road, they found a large gate. The gate was a big village entrance with a sign above that read “Azure Mountain Village Sector 1-8.”
Reading it, they confirmed they had come to the right place. However, still a bit unsure, Lu Xiaoran asked Roman, “Roman, I remember Jessy told me her village is called Azure Leaf Village.”
Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
Roman replied, “That was the local name. The government didn’t use that; they divided all the villages in Azure Mountain into sectors. There are eight villages, which means eight sectors. Azure Leaf Village is designated as the seventh sector. We need to travel quickly because we are still a little distance away.”
With that, he looked at Lu Xiaoran, who nodded in agreement. They both started running at a speed faster than even a high-tech supercar, but that wasn’t the most surprising part.
In the mountainous terrain, they moved between trees seamlessly. Once the forest thickened, they jumped into the trees, moving quickly but quietly. If Vik were here, he would definitely say their movements resembled those of ninjas. Now, they were both moving stealthily toward a village called Leaf Village.
Vik would have probably claimed this was a canonical event and started talking about some jutsu or Sharingan, but unfortunately, he wasn’t there.
Back to Lu Xiaoran and Roman, they moved toward Azure Leaf Village. As they passed through the forest, they noticed something strange. The forest had plenty of animals, birds, and insects, but there were no humans around.
Even in a mountain forest, some people would typically visit for various reasons, but they hadn’t seen a single person.
Without wasting time, they moved toward Sector 7 or Azure Leaf Village. As they got closer, they found a heavy barricade along with soldiers dressed in green, patrolling the area with high-tech weapons.
There were also high-tech armored vehicles and aircraft nearby. This deployment clearly showed that whoever they were, they didn't want anyone crossing that line. Among them were three Golden Core Realm experts, protecting the area along with the soldiers.
Looking at them, Roman said to Lu Xiaoran through mental communication, “They are from the government. They are a dungeon response team. Each city has its own dungeon response brigade, but they only get deployed to ensure safety against dungeon breaks.
However, as far as I know, there haven’t been any instances of dungeon gates for thousands of miles around Azure Mountain Range, let alone the mountain itself.”
Lu Xiaoran replied, “Something is clearly wrong. Even if a dungeon break occurred, the villagers should be the first ones to evacuate. But we have no information about it. We need to bypass them and see what’s wrong deeper in the mountains.”
They decided to bypass the barricade. Concealing themselves, they stealthily crossed past the soldiers and barricade. Due to the clear difference in strength and techniques, no one noticed them.
They moved toward the deeper mountains and soon reached Sector 7 (Azure Leaf Village), which was empty. Before they could search around the village for anyone, they suddenly felt a powerful suppression aimed at them.
Both immediately turned their heads toward the source, which was above them in the air. Looking up, they saw an old man with white hair hovering and staring at them.
Without hesitation, Roman shouted, “Run!” He tried to open a teleportation rift but failed. He quickly sent a message to Vik while grabbing Lu Xiaoran and running back, believing this would be faster than if Lu Xiaoran ran on his own.
However, he soon realized something was off. He wasn’t running at his usual speed; his strength felt suppressed. He sensed his surroundings while running and noticed that the spiritual energy in the environment was much sparser than usual. As a Nascent Soul expert, he sensed the suppression of the Law.
The world itself was suppressing spiritual energy. Knowing this, he looked back at the old man, who was gaining on them as he flew at high speed. Realizing the old man was also affected, since he had sensed earlier that he was a Void Refining expert but was now moving as fast as a Golden Core Realm expert, gave him a glimmer of hope. He started running deeper into the mountains, where he felt the suppression was even stronger.
