Chapter 6: the plan 2

Vex said nothing as he looked at the two.

And Dex sighed turning to the ceiling ''he's serious''

He let go of Leo's mouth and in instant the boy spoke "have you even thought this through?"

  "Yeah" without hesitation Vex replied.

"No you haven't" Leo shock his head "if you did, you would know that the duke will kill you the instant he finds out"

'I'm more worried about the church than the duke right now' Vex sighed ''thats only if he survives''

  Their eyes widened.

"Wait, what do mean if he "survives"-'' Dex spoke in hushed tone as he crouched next to Vex.

"Do you know the ranks of the demon king generals?" Vex stood up as Leto stood from his couch

"No but one of the knights that came earlier said the one at the border is an eight star" Vex recalled the knight that told Leto to not worry because the demon king general was only an eight star.

It seemed the duke might not need to step in because his head knight was an eight star aura user but Vex knew they were wrong.

While growing up under his fathers cult he learned too much information for a child his age to the point that he understood the internal workings of the demonic world.

"I don't know specific rank of this general but I do know that the minimum requirements to be the demon kings general is to be a ten star magician or aura user" he spoke as Leto walked to the stairs with three boys wearing well tailored suits.

"how do you know this?" Dex spoke while Leo stared at Vex, but Vex walked to Leto's group that was approaching the stairs.

As he pretended to walk past the group, Leto stopped him "your name is Vex right?"

Vex with a smile looked at Leto "yes your grace"

Leto smiled glancing back at his friends "just call me Leto, you don't need to do that"

Vex simply nodded and seeing this Leto continued "I was telling my friends here about your skills with women and while chatting they brought up that your skills could be useful at academy"

Leto's gaze narrowed sligthy as he grabbed Vex shoulder "as such I intend to employ you to be my attandant at the academy"

Vex gritted his teeth forcing a smile while his shoulder threatened to pop under Leto's iron gripe.

"Of course It would be an honour to go to the René academy with you sir Leto" he spoke in a controlled tone gritting his teeth through every word

Leto smiled moving his hand away "so you've heard about the academy?"

The searing pain lessened in his shoulders yet he showed no reaction, his expression seemed to be frozen on that smile of his that barely moved his cheeks.

"Only an idiot wouldn't know that you belong in the halls of René academy" Leto smiled as Vex continued "or am I presumptuous in assuming that we are going there?"

"No your correct the is only one place a man of my stature belongs and thats in the halls of the best academy in the world..." Leto spoke chin raised high as two of his friend clapped.

This story has been taken without authorization. Report any sightings.

The René academy was the longest surviving institute in the world it had seen kingdoms rise and fall, survived through wars and its halls had bred some of the greatest geniuses and leaders the world had ever seen.

The academy had such a rich history that every parent wanted to send their children there as such people from across the world did, the school stood independent from any nation and because of this nobles, politicians and wealthy entrepreneurs did not worry about their children being indoctrinated into anything.

But entering the halls of such a institute was impossible unless you were a child of a noble, politician or wealthy but since the federation was established the academy was forced to account for geniuses giving rise to commoners joining its halls if they showed talent.

And considering Renè academy stature it could have resisted the federations request to teach commoners but the federation growth and strength wasn't something that could easily be scoffed to the side.

The federation had great influence over the minds of the masses and was currently the strongest human nation in the world despite its history being less than a hundred years, because of this Renè academy didn't dare refuse the federation request even when nobles from other nations protested against it.

Vex simply nodded as Leto began to talk about the greatness of his greatness 'since he is a knight the best assumption I can make about his rank is four stars'

He moved his right shoulder slightly and felt pain that made him clench his jaw 'even in top condition I would still die before ever touching him'

He glanced back to Dex and Leo, who were still standing at the stairs 'I'll need them but first we should move to where the are no eyes'

He turned to Leto, who was chatting with his friends about the prestige Everton family the royal family of the Everton kingdom.

"Your telling me" the boy in a jade suit spoke his arms crossed "that you intend to marry the second princess Valeria Everton"

Leto spoke with a smirk "of course Tristan, all I have to do is show I can be a nine star knight in my twenties like my father and she'll come crawling into my arms"

The boy in the jade suit sneered momentarily at his words then smiled as he said "if anyone can marry into royal family it's definitely Leto Ironheart"

With slight hesitation the boys clapped with faces covered in smiles "your right"

  "Of course" another commented then

"Sir Leto" Vex spoke "on our way here I never truly admired the beauty of your armour"

He looked to the stairs "me and my friends were wondering if you could show us the beauty of your armoury"

The air went silent as all eyes turned to Vex, except Leto their eyes glared at him as if he had committed an unforgivable sin then.

"How dare you spea..." before the one in the red suit could finish Dex stepped forward.

"Yeah he's right, since the are no chicks here we might as well enjoy the beauty of a knight armoury" Vex gritted his teeth as Dex leaned on his shoulder 'fuck!'

As the glare of the boy in a red suit turned to Dex, Tristan spoke "he's right"

He grabbed the shoulder of the boy in red and leaned to his ear then the glare instantly vanished as he turned to Vex "and since you'll be Leto's attendant its only right we try to know each other"

He reached out a hand to Vex with a smile on his face yet eyes narrowed but Vex eyes widened as he had sensed a familiar energy from his hands 'he is an aura user!'

Vex throat dried in instant 'it's already bad having to deal with Leto but now...'

His mind couldn't see the next steps as he looked at the figure that stood in front of him.

Leto strength was already equal to Don, who was in his mid twenties and could kill hundreds of orcs and orges alone while Vex would die simply facing five orc or ogres but now.

The once grim reality had turned dark, unfavourable odds had turned impossible for an army of grown man a single four star knight could already slaughter them but to face two was akin to facing a thousand man.

For Vex the arm that seemed greeted him with kindness represented death.

His choices were simple, face impossible odds or fall into the arms of the church.

The church that had hunted him for two years killing other children that they had saved from the cult, the same church that killed his father, who was an eight star mage.

Faced with these two options his brain did the most logical thing it could, it froze. What else could he do when both choices ment death.

What would you do knowing regardless of what choice you made in life, it would lead to death?

We like to think that when presented with adversity we could easily overcome it but when an individual truly looks at his past, he sees that he struggles with the simplest of choice yet lets his mind decieve him into thinking he can beat impossible odds when he struggles with the day to day choices.

But in the end it is an individuals life as such it is his choice, neither I nor you can give Vex the solution to his problems when we are not in it.

The same as no one can truly give you the solution to your problems because they are not the one's that must deal with the consequences.
