Episode 20 — The Game of Shadows
In the grand board of the universe, some moves appear simple… yet they conceal entire wars behind them.
Lord Vharon, the unseen ruler of planet XP, viewed every step as part of a far greater game. His eyes — or rather, the eyes of his Vidêu servant — had already witnessed what most beings feared even to imagine. But not every vision was meant to be revealed.
And now, standing before him, were two names that might alter the fate of every race: Lee… and Leon.
Lee and Leon were escorted through a vast hall lit only by blue torches. Their flames danced across stone pillars carved with ancient symbols. At the far end stood a black throne, towering and imposing.
Seated upon it was Lord Vharon.
Tall and composed, he wore dark green armor etched with old markings. Beside him stood a frail-looking figure — a Vidêu — its eyes completely white, staring into something beyond the physical world.
Vharon’s deep voice echoed across the chamber.
“So… these are the two who have been troubling my council.”
Leon briefly glanced at Lee. Neither of them bowed.
Vharon leaned forward slightly.
“Lee. Three Xprians dead. You disrupted the balance. And all of this… for a Krizardian?”
This story has been taken without authorization. Report any sightings.
Lee met his gaze without hesitation.
“Did I disrupt the balance? Or did I remove three corrupted pieces that were about to betray you?”
Murmurs spread among the guards.
A faint smile appeared on Vharon’s face.
“You speak as if you know my plans.”
“I know enough,” Lee replied calmly. “Half your council wants your crown. And you didn’t bring me here to hear excuses… you brought me here to measure how useful I am.”
Leon then stepped forward.
“If usefulness is what you want,” he said, “then understand my mission goes far beyond these walls. But that can work… in your favor.”
Before Vharon could respond, the Vidêu spoke, its voice thin and distant.
“I saw it… I saw planet XP surrounded by fire. And I saw two wolves… one black and one golden… fighting side by side. If one of them falls… the flames will consume us all.”
The room fell silent.
Vharon’s eyes locked onto Leon.
“You are the golden one?”
Leon remained calm.
“I don’t know. But I do know I’m not here to destroy… unless someone tries to stop what is right.”
Lee crossed his arms.
“You can make me your ally… or your problem. Whatever is more convenient.”
Vharon’s eyes sharpened.
“You threaten my throne inside my own hall?”
Lee smirked slightly.
“No. I’m saying sometimes it’s smarter to keep your enemy close than to try eliminating him.”
Leon added quietly,
“If you keep us here, you can watch us… and use our actions to your advantage. Expel us, and we act freely beyond your sight.”
The Vidêu leaned close to Vharon and whispered into his ear. The lord remained silent for a long moment, studying the two boys carefully.
Finally, he spoke.
“Very well. You may stay. But do not mistake this for trust… this is surveillance.”
Lee nodded.
“That works for me. The closer I am, the easier it is to see who truly works against you.”
Leon gave a faint smile.
“Then we understand each other.”
They turned and left the hall.
As they walked down the corridor, Lee lowered his voice.
“This gives us access to everything. Up close… we’ll find out what they’re hiding.”
Leon’s eyes hardened with determination.
Some victories are not shouted.
They are whispered… in the shadows.
