Stu’s eyes opened, he hated not knowing where he was, or how he got there. Looking around, he y back in the bed; it was his room. No girls, just him. He looked up at the window; the full moon was shining brightly. He sighed, “Awake at night, all after a fight. Tomorrows sight, to see sunlight.” Getting up, he made his way to the main floor, he wanted to see if anyone was awake. Only one small light was on in the living room.
He almost didn’t even go in there, thinking he might as well go and look. On the couch Chaos was curled up asleep, she had obviously fallen asleep reeding something. He grabbed a bnket from one of the chairs, figuring he would cover her up so he could stop seeing up her skirt. She was cute enough without panty shots he decided. Draping the bnket over her, he looked at the page she was reading; it was his note he’d left in the bookbag. He froze; they were only supposed to read those if he died. He tried to take it out from under her head, but she gripped it in her sleep. He gave up going over to the chair.
He sat down shaking his head. These girls, more accurately these gods were always into something. He’d have to figure out how to expin the note now. His god wouldn’t be a forgiving one, he already knew that she would have a lot of questions. How could he expin it? He thought; oh, hey chaos! Just thought I’d drop everything on your shoulders, thanks bye. He sighed even more than usual now. He wished he was better at expining his feelings.
A rustling from the couch made him look up. Chaos was sitting up and looking at him sadly. She asked, “How are you doing?”
Stu said, “Like usual, back to my old self. Thanks for not listening to me today.. I actually do appreciate that..”
She looked a little relieved, then she held up the note he wrote asking, “Do you want to talk about this?”
He hung his head saying, “Not really..” There was no way he’d opt to talk about that if he didn’t have to.
She asked, “Why did you try to take it from me?”
His head still hung in shame; he sighed as he normally did. Stu said, “So I didn’t have to talk about it.”
Chaos softly asked, “Is there a reason you don’t want to talk about it? Is it because you don’t like me in that way?”
He looked at her finally saying, “No, it’s that I do feel that way about you. That’s the problem.. I’m not good with emotions or talking about them. It’s not that I’m just bad at talking about them, it’s more like I don’t know how.. God, I’m rambling, see?” He was beyond flustered trying to expin himself. No matter what, he already knew he’d screw this up.
She looked confused trying to glean meaning from his words. She asked, “I think so.. I’m not going to pretend I understand exactly what you said, but I think I understand enough. Would you like to sit with me and just spend some time together? Nothing perverted, just sitting with each other?”
His heart was beating harder than any of his fights as he slowly stood up. Stu went to the couch and sat diligently beside her, more like he was sitting with his sister and not a pretty girl. His mind was racing, his heart was pounding, she offered to share her bnket and he reluctantly accepted. She shifted from ying against the arm of the couch to against him. All he could do was focus on his breathing to prevent himself from hyperventiting. Stu asked, “Are you comfortable?”
Chaos took his arm and pced it around her shoulders and said, “Yes I am.” He’d wanted this for so long it was a real challenge to hold back his excitement. She asked, “Are you doing okay?”
He felt like his heart would beat right out of his chest, he accidently answered way faster than he meant to, saying, “Yes.”
She said, “Your heart is pounding so fast. I can hear it when I’m ying on you. Did you know you are also trembling?”
He closed his eyes, he’d hoped he was imagining shaking. He was so nervous that he’d screw everything up if he kept going. He said, “I’m sorry.”
Chaos asked, “Is there a reason that you can go die without any worries, but you can’t talk about your feelings?”
He knew the reason, but he never talked about it with anyone before. He didn’t even know if he could talk about it. Bluntly he said, “Injuries heal, death is the end, but broken hearts never stop hurting. Too many times…” That was literally all he could say about it, on the inside he screamed reason after reason. On the outside he gave a simple answer.
She wrapped her arms around him, “Do you remember what I told you at the door?”
He did remember, how could he ever forget what he saw there? He said, “Yes..”
Chaos said, “I’m not sure I can be with you. Every time I lose control, and you know that it takes everything to maintain my power. There is the problem though; I do want to be with you..”
Stu asked, “What was the door?”
She said, “I think it’s the full power of chaos. I just can’t remember, and I don’t know what keeps trying to come through. I just know I cannot let it out.” She looked up at him saying, “I just know that I have to choose between not letting it out and loving you.”
He stared at her; she actually meant it. Leaning toward her their lips met. He kissed her soft lips remembering the touch. She reached up touching his face and he pulled her closer. He let go instantly when she cried out in pain. He asked, “What’s wrong?”
She looked distraught as she said, “I don’t know, I think I might have made a mistake.” She cried out again. She looked up at Stu and he saw it. The same thing he could see in Demi’s eye and the same thing he saw behind the door, it was in Chaos’s eye now.
He asked, “Did you lose control?” She nodded and slumped down unconsciously. Stu jumped up and ran for his room, grabbing his phone he dialed Broth. Looking at the time it was almost 4AM, if he wasn’t awake Stu would show up.
Broth answered wide awake, “What’s up buddy?”
Stu yelled, “Somethings wrong with Chaos! I need you and Marrow here ASAP!
Broth said, “Got it, be there in five.” He hung up on Stu.
Stu ran down the hallway banging on the walls yelling, “Emergency, get up!” He rushed back down to the living room to check on Chaos. When he got to the couch it was worse than he thought. She was already becoming pale. The other girls came running in.
Miracle asked, “What happened?” Stu expined everything from the trip to the door, and even the kiss. He told them about a little before Broth and Marrow showed up, and finished telling them all of it once everyone was there. He didn’t want to lose her, especially not now. Stu was distraught, they had a hard time reassuring him as the situation deteriorated rapidly. He sat there across from Broth working to stabilize her, he was helpless to do anything.
After several hours of nonstop work, Broth came over to Stu sitting with him. He said, “Hey man, I know today has been rough, but she’s stable for now. Anyways, I’m sorry for this and all.”
Stu said, “Thanks for coming over so quickly. There was no one else I could call at 4AM that would’ve been here at all, let alone in five minutes. So, thanks Broth.”
Broth said, “Don’t thank me man, I owe you this much we both know it. I was an asshole when we were kids. So don’t thank me when I have to tell you that I don’t expect her to make it. I don’t know god biology Stu and this is some god type thing that’s wrong with her. I’m sorry.”
Stu stared at the floor. A tear slipped out as he said, “Thank you for trying Broth.”
Marrow came over and said, “Broth, find a way and we will make the deal.”
Broth said, “Look I appreciate the attempt at motivating me but even if there was a way to help her I’d literally use it all just figuring this out.”
Marrow looked him in the eyes and said, “Triple. It’s already on its way. Now, help her. Whatever it takes..”
Broth asked, “T-triple? Really? Can I start now?”
Marrow said, “He doesn’t care as long as you help her. Do it!”
Stu asked, “What?”
Broth smiled reaching into his jacket and pulling out a white crystal he id it on the coffee table and took his shoe off. Smashing the crystal with one strike he snorted the powder. Looking at Stu wide eyed he said, “Triple the drugs if I save your girlfriend! I’m gearing up for a long night, but don’t worry. I’m going to figure this out or die trying!” He snorted more of the powder up and went back to work.
Marrow said, “He’s a drug addict, but he’s the most brilliant scientist I’ve seen in 500 years.. That makes me sad for some reason.”
Stu said, “Imagine losing out to him with every girl in high school.. but really, thanks Marrow, you don’t owe me anything after the way I’ve been.”
Marrow said, “Hmm.. I don’t know what your referring to..” Stu continued watching a now totally supercharged Broth rechecking blood samples and other tests he’d been running. He looked like what Stu wished he could be doing right now. All he could do is wait and at some point he must have fallen asleep.
