Stu looked up only darkness hung above, the st thing he remembered was jumping into the dark. He was standing at the bottom of the stairs now, and there was a simple door in front of him, and the stairs behind him. A sign beside the door read, “Though ye seek chaos, only insanity awaits.”

  A deep breath; then Stu said, “A twist on Inferno.. Alright my hope is abandoned, guess I’ll just turn around..” He grabbed the handle opening the door, rolling his eyes saying, “Yeah, I know right?” He walked inside the darkness. As the door shut everything went completely bck. When nothing happened, he began walking forward. A light kicked on above him.

  Waiting for something to happen, there was only silence. He took a couple more steps forward and another light turned on. He waited again, nothing happened, taking a couple more steps another one turned on. He started walking backwards and the light ahead turned off. He walked forward again and it turned on. He stopped, saying, “Huh, what do you know..” he began moving forward again not worrying anymore as the lights turned on above him.

  Lights turned on up ahead and he said, “Here we go, I bet this is what I’m looking for..” He walked to an area that was familiar. He saw prosperity, chaos, and himself in an elevator. Another Chaos was there watching the others in the elevator as well. Walking up to the observing Chaos, he stood silently next to her.

  Chaos asked, “What are you doing here?”

  Stu shrugged saying, “I was just out for a walk and thought I’d drop by hell and find my god so we could get out of here. That’s all.”

  Chaos didn’t look at him as she spoke, “This isn’t hell, these are my memories. Kind of.. This one is my most visited memory.”

  Stu said, “I wish I looked cooler in this memory. Crying on the ground is a bit embarrassing even if it was an act..”

  Chaos said, “You were the coolest.. Crying or not you changed everything that day, for me and the others. This is the day that I..” She hesitated to talk about it.

  Stu said, “You fell in love with me.”

  Chaos was still not looking at him, “How did you know?”

  He sighed saying, “You told me in the gym not too long ago, back when you got really high. I figured we’d talk about it when you were ready.”

  She looked back at him with a sad smile, and he saw the green tears were falling. She asked, “Can I show you something that I haven’t ever shown anyone?” Holding her hand out he took it. She led him into the darkness until a new light shined in the distance. She took him to the light.

  Stu looked at Chaos holding a double set of doors shut. She had one hand on each door pushing furiously. The sweat was pouring from her face as she struggled with all her might. A rge thump on the door bounced her as she barely held the door closed. Fighting with all her might, it looked like all she could do to maintain what she was managing. He asked, “What is this? A memory from your past?”

  She shook her head, “This is the night the couch broke. Do you remember that? This is all I can do to hold my power in check, that little thump was enough to make it to your world. Stu, I can’t be with you.. I-I can’t control Chaos when I’m with you..”

  He watched her struggle and cry as she gave everything to hold the doors shut. Another, rger crash, hit the door, and she cried harder. “The night we kissed..”

  Chaos nodded saying, “Now I’m going to show you what happened at the st battle.. when you ate a god’s heart..” The sound of wood splintering filled the air. Then there was a crash as the memory Chaos screamed in pain falling down, the door cracked open. A hand grabbed the edge of the door. Memory Chaos screamed running to the door, barely pushing it shut again. she leaned against it bawling. “This is what I have no words to say. This is the insanity of chaos. This is why.. I-I have to.. There’s just no way for us to be together, I love you too much to walk this path. What happens next time, when I lose control..” She wept softly.

  Stu watched as memory Chaos was trying to hold the door shut and failed. The wood splintered slowly at first and Chaos screamed giving it all she had. The wood splintered faster and the hinge on the right door fell off. Chaos pushed harder as she herself was being pushed back by pure force. He sighed saying, “You don’t have to be with me if you don’t want to.. but I’ll be damned if I ever stand here and don’t give you everything I have.”

  He walked out into the memory projection. Chaos was screaming losing control over the door, he approached from behind. Pcing a hand on each door he pushed with all his might as Chaos screamed, “Stu? Run! I can’t hold her back! Save yourself!”

  Grunting, Stu said, “Not happening Chaos! I’m not abandoning my God! I’m not abandoning someone I love!” He grunted pushing the door and for a moment looking into the void behind the door, he thought he saw something. He couldn’t be sure, but he gave it everything he had as the door slowly and reluctantly creaked shut. He breathed heavily closing his eyes and wiping the sweat from his brow. He said, “That’s right, I’ll never abandon the ones I love.” Looking up all the girls were looking at him concerned as he was lying on the floor.

  Sitting up looking around he asked, “What happened?”

  Prosperity said, “You guys took the blue gods and pretty much thrashed around and muttered. I don’t think Broth knew what he was doing after all.”

  Chaos asked, “Do you remember anything?”

  Stu looked up at her and said, “Everything..”

  Chaos cautiously asked, “Was it you that shut the door?”

  Stu asked, “Was it you that showed me the door?” They stared at each other realizing that they’d been in the same pce together. He smiled at her, “Will you stay with me?” Shedding normal tears Chaos nodded smiling back.

  Miracle looked at everything going on and said, “I don’t know Prosperity, it looks like it might have worked.. Stu hasn’t given us that kind of look before..”

  Stu’s phone rang, it was Broth, “Hello?”

  Broth said, “It was all in your head…”

  Confused Stu asked, “What does that mean?”

  Broth said, “Nothing, just screwing with you.. figured the dosage would have worn off by now and I wanted to call you first thing and mess with your head.. Man am I a great scientist or what?”

  Stu hung the phone up abruptly, saying, “Goddammit..” He hated that guy sometimes.. Slumping to the floor he was tired, “How long was I out for?”

  Prosperity looked at her phone saying, “Twenty-five minutes.”

  Stu said, “Double damn..” something nded on him, looking up Prosperity was on top of him.

  She said, “Are you ready to go again?”

  Stu cried out saying, “I need a few minutes!”

  She started sliding back and forth on him saying, “Oh, pooh! I was hoping you’d be ready now..” then she yelled “Ouch!”

  Miracle grabbed her by the ear pulling prosperity off Stu. Miracle said, “Yeah, I know it’s fun, but he needs a minute. Plus, don’t you have any shame?”

  Prosperity grinned at her saying, “I don’t know, maybe you should help me find my shame?”

  Stu said, “Like that, I’m almost ready to go again..” Chaos kicked him in the side, but he noticed she was still smiling. Strangely he felt way more in sync with her, he’d ask her about the door ter. What had he seen in there?
