Chapter 22

  Chapter 22

Over the next several weeks the Asgard, Taranians, and the people of Arkology forged a fragile alliance. They began living and working together; primarily on adapting wraith beaming technology as well as fixing the ancient vessel. The Asgard could immediately tell the difference in intelligence between the Taranians and the people of Arkology. The Taranians were barely industrial and Arkology was in the early Space Age. There was even a stark difference in class and demeanor between the two peoples. The people of Arkology were upper class and wore more regal attire while the people of Taranis wore older more worn out clothing befitting those living a life of hard labor. Herek, the man first freed from wraith storage, claimed that only the rich made it on board the Ark and that’s the real reason why the other shuttle didn’t make it. Although there was no way to prove it, their stately disposition affirmed this hypothesis. Still, the people of Arkology were grateful for the Taranians giving them shelter on this new world and used their technological know-how to benefit the life of all on that planet.

In order to boost camaraderie and cohesiveness amongst the two groups working on the Ancient vessel, Amos made uniforms for them reminiscent of Starfleet from the Earth TV series Star Trek. He had always admired the Star Fleet inspired uniforms worn by the Atlantis expedition and thought that since they were building a ship, that should be their uniform there as well.

“If the federation can learn to work together, then so can we,” Amos thought to himself. Teams were given different colored uniforms correlating to their various fields of expertise. Red for engineering, blue for science, white for medicine and hospitality, and the envious gold – For Amos Fyree.

When it came to the restoration of the ancient vessel, each team member was assigned tasks that matched their unique skills and intellect. Much like the legendary Skidbladnir, this ship would not only be repaired but also enhanced with a suite of advanced technologies unseen on other Lantean warships. Key among these innovations was the incorporation of Asgard ion cannons, specifically the red ion cannons crafted by Reva for the Skidbladnir. These formidable weapons were strategically installed along the entire hull, granting the vessel an impressive 360-degree range of fire.

Additionally, the ship's bow boasted two powerful Lantean beam emitters, providing an unprecedented surge of firepower not found in previous Lantean designs. While the vessel still retained the standard pulse cannons typical of every Lantean warship, these had been significantly upgraded—enhanced by several hundred percent. In a remarkable feat of engineering, Reva also transformed the pulse cannons into elongated beams, amplifying their lethality.

In regards to shields, an Asgard bubble shield featured on Biliskiner-class ships was added to its design complementing the already powerful Lantean deflector shield. This auxiliary layer of protection was specifically designed to thwart boarding attempts and represented a bold evolution from the traditional shield designs employed by both the Asgard and the Goa'uld. Furthermore, the ship was enveloped in an ablative hull composed of nanites. When the order to deploy armor was given, the vessel would become completely fortified against all energy-based attacks, exemplifying a blend of ancient design and cutting-edge technology.

They not only enhanced the ship’s offensive and defensive capabilities but also transformed several other systems, elevating its overall performance. A notable upgrade was the integration of an Asgard Power Core, which bolstered the vessel’s power infrastructure and worked alongside its existing Zero Point Module. With the formidable combination of an Asgard Power Core entwined with the Zero Point Module, the ship's shields reached an unparalleled state of resilience, rendering them almost impenetrable.

Additionally, they outfitted the ship with a kino dispenser for probes on deep space missions, installed repair nanites prepared to fix any damage, and incorporated a stealth cloak to ensure utmost secrecy during risky operations. The only upgrade that eluded them was the incorporation and creation of more drones, the pinnacle of Lantean weaponry. The intricacies of their construction proved too complex, as even the Asgard had yet to decipher their creation process and lacked the capability to replicate them. Thus, the success of this aspect hinged entirely on Amos’s and Reva’s innovative device.

Meanwhile, in the hangar bay of Taranis, as various crews diligently labored on the Lantean warship, Amos, Reva, and a dedicated team of scientists from Arkology immersed themselves in unraveling the enigmatic Wraith beaming technology. Their goal was to finalize a new generation of Kinos capable of copying any technology.

“I believe I can create a synthetic mesh that we can add to our kinos in order to make them store an item indefinitely,” said Reva as she worked on finishing their new creation. Reva was busy typing away at her Asgard computer core while a team of scientists from Arkology gently removed the Wraith pattern storage device from their capsule.

“Ms. Fyree, is this what you need?” said one of the Arkology scientists. Reva stopped what she was doing and walked over to their work station.

“Why yes, that is all. Could you all please do a detailed molecular analysis of the substance in the pattern buffer,” ordered Reva with a commanding tone.

“Yes, Ms. Fyree, right away,” said the bashful scientist.

The teams worked vigorously through the night and finally, after what felt like an eternity, the new Kino was complete. Reva walked over to Amos with the new Kino in her hand and said, “I was able to create a synthetic version of the substance found in the wraith buffer. It should be small enough to fit inside of the Kino. Although small, I was able to increase its cellular density to allow for a greater storage capacity. This thing can absorb an entire moon or small planet and spit out dozens of them in return.

Amos kissed Reva as he always did and took the device from her hand. “Ok, now it’s time for the moment of truth. Everyone come around,” instructed Amos. The scientists from Arkology as well as Reva came close to where Amos was standing, a subtle hint of anxiety in the air. Amos grabbed a small crate holding several Zero Point Modules. He then took the new Kino and placed a crystal disk inside of its upper slot. “Let’s start out small for now,” said Amos with a whiff of hope in his breath. For the last few weeks they have tried and failed to perfect this technology. All of his hopes were in this Kino. Indeed, the hope of the universe was weighing heavily on the success of this test. Like a pitcher at the ready, Amos inhaled, exhaled, then threw the Kino at the crate of Zero Point Modules. Like a Wraith Dart swooping over its target, the Kino, now in its third generation, hovered over the crate of ZPMs and scanned the entire case. Then, out of nowhere, a miracle occurred, a complete duplicate of the crate of ZPMs appeared directly beside the original crate. Reva, Amos, and their team of scientists from Arkology had done it. They had successfully created a way to duplicate technology.

“YES!” shouted Reva and the science team. Amos quickly calmed down their excitement so he could test the copied ZPMs. He quickly printed his Lantean scanner with his wrist matter converter and scanned the second crate of ZPMs. Full Power.

“I said…The ZPMs are at FULL POWER!” Amos screamed, unable to contain his excitement. Reva jumped into his arms and kissed him with malicious excitement. In fact, everyone was kissing everyone that night. They had done the unthinkable, something not even the ancestors had accomplished. Who would have thought that Wraith technology held the keys to humanity’s salvation. With this new technology they could create dozens – no hundreds, even thousands – of ZPMs; but, what about ships, buildings, cities? Could this technology duplicate larger and more complex technologies?

“Guys, let’s try a Jumper!” said Amos.

Reva brought a Puddle Jumper into the building they were in and printed another kino. Just like Amos did with the Zero Point Modules, she loaded the kino with a crystal disk and threw the kino at the Jumper. This time, not one Jumper was made, but three. The new kino turned one jumper into a small fleet.

After testing the Jumpers out to make sure they were fully operational, the team set out to scan every piece of Lantean technology they could find. The team from Arkology went to the ancient vessel and scanned blasters, personal shields, the control chair, and even the coveted drones – the best weapon in the Lantean fleet. While they were doing that, Amos and Reva were a little more audacious and gated back to Valhalla to see what wonders they could duplicate from the old city of Asuras.

“Don’t worry about keeping all those disks on you, I made sure that anything you scan is instantly uploaded to our nanites. All we have to do is think about what we want and a preloaded disk will be printed through our wrist matter converters and we will be able to use the kino to print the device,” said Reva as they were walking throughout the city. As the two continued walking through the city the Asgard took notice and began muttering to themselves as they always do:

“Amos Fyree and the woman are up to something!”

“Amos Fyree is back at it again!”
