Chapter 20
“Amos to Freyr, come in please,” said Amos over the Skidbldnir’s subspace communicator. Teams of Asgard and Taranians were busy repairing the broken down ship on the surface. Freyr, an expert in engineering, was among them. As Amos’s voice bellowed throughout the hangar, Freyr immediately stopped what he was doing and responded to Amos’s message.
“Yes, Amos Fyree I am here. Were you and Reva successful?” Freyr asked, with cautious optimism in his voice.
“No, Freyr. However, Reva and I have had a very important breakthrough. In order to complete my new design we have to go off-world and find a device. Let us take the Skidbladnir, the planet we are heading to is not far from here, we should be back by the end of the day,” reassured Amos.
“That is fine, Amos. The Skidbladnir is in your capable hands. Be careful, and good luck,” said Freyr.
After asking Freyr to let them borrow the Skidbladnir, both Amos and Reva pulled away from Taranis and entered into hyperspace.
An hour later, Amos and Reva arrived at their destination. They found themselves in high orbit over a desolate world with a small moon.
Reva vigorously pressed the controls at her workstation bringing up an image of the planet. After looking at the viewscreen for a few seconds, she looked at Amos and said: “I’m getting terrible readings from the planet’s surface. If my sensors are correct, there was a nuclear calamity that occurred on this world; and judging by the rate of radioactive decay the calamity happened several hundred years ago!”. Amos leaned forward in his chair looking at the devastated planet appearing on the view screen.
“Baby, I’m not picking up any energy readings from anywhere on the planet. All of the planet’s infrastructure appears to be destroyed. I doubt there is anything down there we could use to help us with our new device.” said Reva, worrying if this mission was still feasible.

“We’re not going to the planet,” said Amos. “Instead, take us to that small moon over in the distance.” Reva quickly adjusted her heading and flew over to the large hollowed out moon.
“Oh my! The moon seems to be secretly concealing a giant megastructure!” said Reva dumbfounded. Lying before them was a hollow moon holding a large technologically advanced space station. It’s technological sophistication and design appeared similar to Earth’s Apollo program. Although a few decades behind Earth, this planet was one of of the most technologically advanced races in the Pegasus galaxy. Hopefully, this moon contained everything Amos needed to complete his revolutionary new device; and, house exactly the type of people he needed for his growing alliance.
Reva pulled up alongside the moon, while Amos put on his space suit so he could go over and examine the station. “Wait!” said Reva in a panic. Amos had already put on his space suit before Reva stopped him.
“What is it, beautiful?” asked Amos, his curiosity piqued.
“I’ve been going over these SGC Mission reports and it states that when Col. Sheppard and his team made contact with the moonbase, an angry member of the crew nearly destroyed the entire station. If you go over there you may run into him again. We need to be prepared before we make contact with their people.” Reva warned.
Reva was right, Amos going over there alone, without a weapon, and without backup, would most likely cost him his life and the station. Instead of taking a jumper over to the station, Reva and Amos pondered another way they could pillage the station’s secrets without jeopardizing their safety.
“We could take it with us like we did the Ancient defense satellite," Amos said. With the planet uninhabitable, taking the moon with them might not be such a bad idea. Taranis is already a safe haven for people fleeing the Wraith, their governing council might not mind having new guests staying with them; especially, if these new guests had some of the best minds in Pegasus.
After aligning the Skidbladnir with the small carved out moon, the couple fired up the ship’s tractor beam and headed back to Taranis.
When Amos and Reva arrived back on Taranis they were met by an interesting sight. An Armada of Asgard motherships – Biliskiner class – supported by a fleet of jumpers greeted them as they came out of hyperspace.
“We’re being hailed,” said Reva.
“This is Commander Freyr, sorry to startle you. When you left we didn’t know if you would be returning or the Wraith, so I contacted Valhalla and had them send a fleet of warships to help defend the planet in case you were compromised,” Freyr explained.
Amos activated his subspace communicator and replied, “Hey Freyr, it’s me Amos, nothing to worry about, we found what we were looking for. Please contact Chancellor Lycus and tell him that I need to speak with him and the Taranian High Council.”
Soon afterwards Amos spoke with Lycus and his council and after hearing how technologically sophisticated they were, the Taranians agreed to allow the people on the moonbase to stay on Taranis. Within thirty minutes, Lycus and a team of Taranian security personnel were on their way up to Taranis’s new moon to greet their new neighbors.
