Preparing For The Apocalypse With An Apocalypse

I didn’t want to give too much away, but since they weren’t exactly human, taboo subjects didn’t affect them with the rest of societal norms. Suddenly, a finger tapped on my back.

  “Yes Fletcher?”

  “I’m not Fletcher.”

I turned around to see a mouth agape Fletcher in the corner of my eye and Cooro Rippel boiling with anger all over his face.

“You came back faster than I expected. How did you return to September 1st when Fletcher trapped you back in August 31st?”

“I threw loot boxes down chasms and went back down to pick up what they spill than went back to grab the game chest to throw again over and over until I found the monkey looking blindfold that takes me to the next day. Now would you mind telling me…WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?!”

He is angry at me. Good. A lot of isekai protagonists completely forget what it’s like to be angry when you're confused. I helped carry a seat I put adjacent to the teachers’ desk. Sitting down I looked at Cooro Two–Cooro one is still in this body if it makes sense–and Fletcher awaiting my explanation.

“On the 30th of September a portal will appear allowing monsters to come into this world; that isn’t news to you since this world is a video game with that mechanic. Not even I know since it wasn’t a real game to me just a form of escapism to you, my character before letting my heart let the game become your world. What you didn’t know is the monsters in the first wave are stronger than you originally imagined–the weakest ones are roughly around Level 50. It will be genocidal of most of the NPCs you know and love…unless you defeat the remaining six of the Seven Deadly Sins and the final boss awaiting their defeat. Fletcher has the rest of the details. For now, enjoy an isekai where there are two of you like the last arc of Gantz and a few others.”

This is it–the reason I hold off on writing until Sunday–and not because I think my story is anything very awful.

  Cooro 1’s POV

What happened to me? One moment I was talking to an NPC I’ve never seen before and the next my eyes felt so heavy it’s like I’m back playing Pokémon on my Gameboy late at night again. I kept seeing Cooro Rippel standing in front of me looking peeved. Why of all the NPC’s was an underling of the first bully the hero defeats standing with eyebrows so furrowed they were practically interconnected. Then it all struck me like lightning: I was supposed to be Cooro Rippel in this world.

Needless to say, I was still too tired to keep my eyes open for long. That’s when the blue haired NPC clutched his hand on my shoulder pulsating a healing spell into my shoulder. Suddenly, I didn’t feel tired anymore. I was awake to hear the blue haired guy speaking to me like I was a stray cat he was inviting over.

“Cooro, I know you're very tired but you need to leave the classroom. You don’t have the trust of the students yet and I don’t want them wondering what you're doing here alone.”

He just wanted me to leave the room and his reasoning was a piteous excuse to make me leave. However, I was only Level 1 and didn’t know his fighting mechanics; so I had no choice but to listen.

Once I got up and left there was a loud whooshing sound coming from inside the classroom; someone was escaping through the window using wind magic. This was followed by a slamming sound and a mechanical locking sound. The blue haired boy soon walked out of the classroom. Who left through the window? The second copy of Cooro I saw while I was barely able to stay awake? Well whatever, the stampeding sound of a flurry of students rushing to this room was more of a concern than what the mysterious me was up to.

Class started when a flame red haired kid had his elbows close to my chest rushing and veering through the door. After him a dirty blonde guy with spiky hair came close to stepping on my shoe but I had the foresight to tuck them in right before he did so. Nobody needs to know about the dozens of men who rushed past me with no record of where their limbs moved or where they were stepping–they wanted to hear about the stereotypical schoolgirls and how when turning their skirts were raised showing their panties. Well after a night of seeing five women in lingerie willing to pleasure me in ways only a sex slave from birth could, red panties and white with frills were no different from men’s underwear–and they were fated to fall for the protagonist(s) while I was a hated characters’ closet friend.

I didn't notice the protagonist but being the characters who put the needs of others before their own I’m sure they were late because they were helping someone–and I am nerdy enough to know where. In a flash I teleported to the gym where they were mingling with a bouncy G-cup female teacher with banged purple hair meshed with yellow spikes and blue eyes teacher.. She was wearing a plain white shirt and red shorts. In her side mission she lost the keys to the storage. Turns out a simp black haired student stole it while she was sweeping the basketball court so he could earn her affection returning it to her. From how distressed she looked it was apparent they didn’t find it yet. Unfortunately for her I already had my hands on their shoulders and teleported them to the classroom.

“What just happened?!” the female protagonist whose name was alien to me because I’m not a guy who plays female characters in video games shouted.

“You two aren't going to be late for class on my watch.”

With a shove the three of us entered the classroom. Either they thought I was a teacher or their legs moved on their own; they found their seats and sat down. I took my seat in the very back because of my reputation as a delinquent and because every time the teacher turned around I could teleport to the secret room without him or any student beside me noticing.

The teacher walked in. A fifty something man wearing an adult version of the clothes Pinocchio wore in the classic Disney movie with rectangular glasses and spiky white hair. Out of the nine teachers in the game only four were attractive cougars who can fall for an X aged highschool student. This guy was neither a love interest nor was he a delusional villain trying to use kids for a nefarious agenda.

Although most lessons in the game were a birds eye view of the teachers mulling their mouths or a pop quiz, the reality game I was living meant I would have to go through his entire class. Lucky me: I can teleport.

  Cooro Two’s POV

According to the new guy I have 29 days to defeat the six Deadly Sins. For now my alternate self must’ve stopped the protagonists’ quest to help the gym teacher. I was going to find the simp who stole her keys, beat him up, and return them to her myself. To find him–and this is for those who haven’t played this game over a dozen times–you simply had to look for the freshest footprints in the muddy gravel and keep venturing until you find the giddy guy crouched behind a wall clasping the keys in his hands and blowing on them trying to have his head touch her skin.

He also kept talking about how he would have her affection and spoon her at night showing his value; only mentioning because making dialogue for him creeps the writer out. My dad from my previous world used to say ‘It’s okay to talk to yourself just don’t answer yourself’. This guy was asking himself questions he immediately gave answers to. He was so preoccupied with his delusions I climbed the wall and landed beside him. Listening to his chuck adjacent to me was like listening to a closeted guy bully trying to laugh like he’s straight.

Kinda in a hurry and unable to take his laughter anymore, I whistled to get his attention. He turned his pelvis 55 degrees to the right–and that gave me ample opportunity to do what I wanted. Without wasting a moment I unleashed a flurry of blows right into his crotch. I felt the outline of a phimosis penis about 1.8 inches long. I kept at it unsure if it was the right move since I wasn’t the protagonist and this wasn’t how the quest is usually done, but relentlessly I followed through where eventually he dropped the keys.

Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.

I quit doing the most practical/fun way to handle him with my low stats and lack of skills–thank the author for that–picked up the keys and ran like a fox escaping a hound. I knew he would try following me but once I made it to the gymnasium he would have no choice but to give up. Sorry to tell you how anticlimactic it was, but if I could find him via walking I could without a doubt make it back to the gym running quickly and unscathed.

There was the teacher Ms. Applefet pacing to a wall back and forth doing suicides. While she was doing exercise her mind was racing so much reality was oblivious to her; when she’s swimming her mind just clears away and her big boobies go Boin-Boin. Her distraction was an advantage to me as it let me drop her keys near her water bottle and slink away back out the front door.

This mission was accepted by the protagonists so it’s fitting she think it was them who found it–besides the character I’m playing as is so scary I might startle her. Her affection for the protagonists would rise by a slight margin; completely different from the amount the thief thought it would.

Now I was on my own heading to the job awakening area. Since I was the same Cooro who went to the weapon shop working for these coins I couldn’t buy a weapon from there. What I could do was sneak in, touch the job awakening crystal,, and start as a Trial Runner job class.

For those of you who don’t know: a Trial Runner is a class that lets you find entrances into a trial where upon completion your given a boost in stats, a weapon a skill or even an animal companion. Only downside was how little it boosts your stats leveling up, but staying at Level 1 farming items that boost stats that wouldn’t be a problem for me.

First I had to check in the dark alley where every six hours a Level 36 serial killer appears calling you to a fight and likes cutting you up. I arrived five minutes before the sixth hour–and for those of you confused…yes, it is at exactly 12 p.m.

I couldn’t beat him at my level,, but I sure could steal his wallet hiding in the one corner he couldn’t seem to see me in my play throughs. Once I was under a metal bar scaffold I waited…he arrived in a pink parka and a silver knife with a pink shaft.

Quickly, i took his money from his back pocket. He had about 273 dollars worth of virtue gold plates in his wallet; to be expected of a mid-tier boss. The next thing I stole from him was his knife, grabbed the tip and pried it gently. He must’ve noticed a tug on his arm but he still couldn’t see me even if he was staring right at me.

Last thing to take was his pink parka. This one would require me to leave my safe space and run like hell soon after. If this was me in my previous life I could never do it, but I was going to be a Trial Runner; risks were an occupational hazard.

At last, I gave the serial killer a wedgie before lifting his parka over his head,, then ran like my feet were on fire. I didn’t pull his underwear from the back, I did it in a way that twisted his dick giving me the chance to steal. It makes me so embarrassed I had to explain that to you–I know the author can do a lot better.

I veered right from the first corner when I heard a guttural groan escalate into a berserk uproar–that’s right, the serial killers’ class is Berserker despite how flamboyant he looked. I ran so fast and far I felt a punctuating feeling in my left abdomen, but I kept running knowing I needed this chase to happen.

We arrived in the part of the schoolyard where the Awakening Crystal was. The only thing that stood between me and obtaining my class were two school prefects in their black uniforms with white four stripes on their front standing ideally trying to keep students out. Despite how big and strong with their glossy spiky black juts underneath their black caps with red badges etched with black insignias; they were only Level 25(s). Ergo, facing a Level 36 Berserker was going to be a problem for them. Once I was just a football stadium away from their direction I swerved, and the serial killer was still running headlong towards them, he’s been in his berserker state so long he was just going to attack everyone around him unaware of who they might be.

The two prefects in term prepared their battle positions keeping him from getting in, you know this battle is a distraction and by the time they finish you know I’ll complete my objective of illegally awakening my class–what you really want to know is when a setup for a fight happens will the author let you experience it or pan away to show me obtaining my new class.

Maybe in the second draft or adaptation of this webnovel that will happen; for now all you need to know was one prefect knew spells light Flame Hand and Explosion while the other knows Ice Hand and Icicle Spears that still wasn’t enough to take down someone with the strength of a minotaur and I awakened my class. So sorry but the author wrote a few small pages before this yet skipped this fight so starting writing it now would mess up his mojo.

But hey at least my plan to get overpowered was going smoothly which is ironic since I became that in one day but the writer had one of his lackey’s send me back with Cooro’s day one stats. At least another version of me was living it up with Max Dexterity, a familiar teleportation and he gets to brag about not being a virgin.

I trekked to the nearest sewer hatch I could find. It was bolted, but it was bolted in a game world. I used the serial killers knife as a can opener cutting around the bolts through the very malleable copper. In no time I was twisting the bolts from the bottom of the hatch pulling them straight out. This was followed by my jabbing my thumbs through the holes giving it a hefty pull.

Even with my trash stats I managed to lift the hatch up before setting it down on the sidewalk. It was a good thing NPC’s are usually not around until the protagonist is around and right now they were in aclass–and don’t question me about the weapon shop, the dungeon or even my bully friends in the alley. The point is this world doesn’t function the same way the real world does,, only limitations are whatever the writer comes up with and right now he’s using a feasible method to allow me to get into the sewer without causing a commotion.

I climbed down the ladder going from midafternoon sun into complete darkness, you may think ‘for all his preparations he completely forgot about the dark’...and you’d be wrong. Unlike the old Pokémon games where you travel through dark dungeons unable to see unless you teach your Pokémon Flash these sewer tunnels had lights lined up against the wall.

Light or dark I can still find my way to the trial stone most useful to start with. Time was of the essence, it moved slower here than in the game where every day only lasted five trips before ending; each month ending with a horde of monsters coming to attack the innocent… In other words, this dating sim wants you to focus less on the many love interests that take many trips to raise their affection and focus on places that can improve your level quickly.

I jumped like Mario over some black rats with circular mouths filled with serrated teeth, Dark Souls rolled around the sewer brown zombies, and even used a cardboard box to move my way past the wraiths with hoods resembling Harry Potter Dementors but with guillotine axe hands with chains as their appendages. I finally found a big red gem leaning against the wall.

Before touching it to begin the trial I did what a good cautious gamer does and took a moment to breath before checking my inventory to see if I had the right equipment. Like the dream world I couldn’t use skills and my level would be 1–something that made even gamers who liked hard mode deter from this class. Everything was in order so I approached the trial crystal the way it was supposed to be approached and backed up pressing into it with my buttocks.

Immediately a screen showed up awarding my achievement ‘Butt Starting’ with 1000 EXP points equivalent to 15 SP. Then my world around me blew up in a flash of white light. I was in the ream of the Guardian War–who yes was based on the Four Horseman of the Apocalypse: War, Famine, Pestilence and Death.

My life being reincarnated, dungeons, exiled by my father and now the four apocalypses–when you make so many cliches the readers wonder if the writer even knows what made them special to begin with.

Well there I was in a purple domain oscillating a little white making it look like I was inside a lava lamp. I was looking around trying to find the guardian War. He/she would be hard to find. I spotted he/she after turning around in seven directions. If you look closely you could see a helm on the shape of a prism but with an axe crossing a spear the size of a baton on his/her helmet. Tiny slanted eyes you’d think were the lines in the domain were contorting from beady to long swaths before my eyes. You might’ve noticed how I referred to this guardian as ‘He’ and ‘She’. Well,, if you look closely at the appendage of a ledge you can see a penis the size of a kestrel appear and disappear and two balls pressed so close together they look like cleavage under the helm before your very eyes.

The guardians’ gender would be chosen by the players’ preference: male, female or futanri. Until then it was just a phase for the player to get used to the idea and help them decide–and like a lot of you you're probably wondering what the creators who are just the author using them as an excuse were thinking.

“I don’t receive a lot of visitors.” He/she spoke. I’d say the first half was spoken from a male while the second half muffled into a female tone. It was like that alien in Men in Black the animated series second episode if the man was Mel Gibson and the female was Rachel McAdams.

A gauge bar you’d see on a graph appeared on a virtual box in front of him/her. If it was completely filled with purple it meant I was ready to take on their trial. I said no skills and the lowest level were all I had taken the trials, but I did get to keep the rewards I got from other trials with me. Unfortunately, this was my first trial so the graph was just two tallies kept a far distance with a cup of grey for no achievements inside.

War closed the screen. “Child, is this your first trial?” I nodded. “You must have encountered many monsters that weren’t a threat changing to a Trial Runner for bigger stats, but here you're no stronger than a Level 1.”

“Trial Runner is my first class,, I’m Level 1 outside this domain, and I’m ready to take your trial right now.”

A moment of silence filled the domain before War spoke again slowly and methodically. “Who are you?”

“My name is Tob….Cooro Ri…no, it’s Toby. You’ll address me as Toby while others call me Cooro because once I clear this trial I’ll become your new master.”

I must have seen boobies appear a few dozen times before he gave his reply.

“Very well. Then you and I shall face each other. If you win, you’ll become my master whom I will follow until my death. However, if I win you shall stay in this domain as one of my many spirits.”

Only then did I hear the bellowing sound of lost spirits regretting facing War unprepared beginning to be freed.

Suddenly, the room completely changed from a colorful void into a coliseum with tiles under my feet, rectangular walls and a big lamp overhead. I stood next to War in his true form: Ares the god of War. He was a tall muscular man in purple armor with many spikes jutting all around it, a helm with a big slit down the center, and a greatsword he carried with ease.

One strike from this god would kill me; I never been more excited in my life.
