Ch. 22 - Caring And Cared

"Seems like he will be making a full recovery." Ricky spoke up, making last checks on Hiroshi, with the undead blood seeming to had lost it's effects.

"His body may need time to recover from alterations to it's body, and filtering the unwanted blood out, but otherwise, he is as good as free to go home." He finished.

Nata happily yelped in joy as she hugged the lightly dazed Hiroshi on the bed, as Olivia was in the back sighing a relieve of her last intense emotions.

By now Edith, Sophia and Kat were out to deal with the aftermath of the train hijacking, as now Nata had returned to the hospital after hearing news of him recovering.

"Thanks, doctor... but I doubt I have energy to even walk." Hiroshi noted as a problem, and Ricky calmly looked over the two girls, happily with him.

"Well, They may be fosters, but surely they can take care of you." He noted with a smirk, making sure the girls knew the responsability. "Anyways, I will go inform nurses that you will be borrowing one of our wheelchairs, and I will leave you my contacts, in case you have some monster related medical problems. I hope you three good luck." He gave a smile and nod, taking out an business card, handing it to Olivia and calmly walking out of the room.

Hiroshi just gave a deep sigh, as he returned his look on the two, Nata was clearly happy while Olivia kept her distance for now, and he couldn't blame her.

"You two are alright? I don't want to trouble you with my condition." He decided to ask just to make sure.

"Oh, I am fine as long I am with you." Nata noted with a cheer, but he could tell from the scuffed looks, she had to get some care at home at least.

"I... I am fine." Olivia muttered, barely heard over the background noises, while she averted her gaze, and clearly having her own problems underneath.

"Well... at least we should be able to relax for a while." He noted with light doubt, but he trusted with the massive news today's havoc caused, everyone would try laying down low for a good while.

After the busy day, and long walk home with Hiroshi on a wheelchair, they finally arrived at home that seemed heaven in comparison to what they went through, and while Hiroshi got to relax by the sofa, Olivia and Nata were quick to crash onto the sofa, exhausted by the ordeal that has been going for five full days now.

"If you are hungry, I can order some food." Hiroshi suggested, which they didn't verbally respond to.

Olivia only dug out the old phone from her pocket and handed it to him, and returned to resting.

So he happily called to nearby pizza-place he knew of and ordered some food, which was harder than he expected, as the phone alone felt like a ton to lift.

With the call being finished, and as their attention was buried into entertainment, it didn' take long until doorbell rang.

Hiroshi informed Nata what to do, as she went to the front-door, on the way taking wallet out of a cupboard near the entrance.

With quick pay and taking the pizza boxes, she returned to the living room, putting them onto the table.

Olivia got vegetarian pizza, Nata got meat lover's, while Hiroshi got his own custom order, as they enjoyed the food while watching a movie.

As time went on, the relaxation starting to hit them on their body, showing how truly exhausted they have been pushed themself into.

Sun has already set, pizza boxes emptied, and exhaustion starting to consume their desire to stay awake, Hiroshi quickly recommended, "So, we should get ready for bed," which quickly made them realize the most awkward situation with them taking care of him.

Arriving at the bathroom, everyone were blushing for their own reasons, as with assistance from the two, he was put to sit on one of the stools.

His face turned red as Olivia and Nata carefully undressed him, as he was unable to do much than to keep balance and towel by his privates, as he was left at their mercy.

While Nata was blushing, she was more than happy to deal with most of him, while Olivia decided just to deal with the back and helping him balanced, and what felt like eternity, he was dried up and put some clothes back on, as Nata and Olivia washed privately.

Hiroshi couldn't do much than feel sorry for troubling them so much while contemplating on things that happened, and what is to come, as after some while, everyone was washed and ready to head to bed immediately.

This novel's true home is a different platform. Support the author by finding it there.

As they laid him on bed, Olivia and Nata looked like they were ready to collapse onto his bed as well.

"Hey," Hiroshi spoke up, wanting to discuss before they were off. "I am sorry tha-"

"It's fine." Olivia spoke, having expected him to say something like it. "Yeah, you came rescue me again." Nata noted with a happy smile, "And you care for us... that only matters" Olivia added, which made Hiroshi feel lightly better.

But his easy feeling quickly ended, as seems Nata realized something, and happily hopped on top of him, before joining under the bed covering.

"W-what are you doing, Nata?" Hiroshi asked, but seeing the joyful smile with her tail wagging hard under the cover.

"I will be sleeping with you." She noted with a wide smirk.

Hiroshi tried to think an argument against her, only to get surprised as Olivia joined in the bed.

"If something happen, you need us... and... If Nata won't comfort me, I have to join." Olivia noted with nearly face turned fully red from blushing, which took Hiroshi a moment to realize, that this might be something they might need. If only it didn't feel so awkward and flustering for everyone involved

"Fine... just, try not to move too much." Hiroshi asked, which both girls nodded to.

Olivia was quick to fall asleep, having been emotionally exhausted after the day's troubles.

Nata happily kept cuddling by Hiroshi, embracing him as much as she could.

Hiroshi couldn't do much but sigh, as he slowly fell asleep as well, in warm comfort of knowing his troubles haven't gone to waste.

New morning came, as Hiroshi woke up to Nata and Olivia still happily asleep by him.

And as if things couldn't get any worse, he heard the doorbell ring, yet he absolutely couldn't move and the two were deep asleep.

So with light annoyance, Hiroshi with light struggle lifted his arm and pinched Nata's ear, quickly waking her up

"Ow, what was that for?" she complained, before hearing the doorbell as well.

She mumbled lightly in displeasure, carefully getting over Hiroshi and Olivia, going to check who was ringing it.

"Morning, Nata" Ingolf happily greeted by the door as she opened it, with Azhar waiting in the van on the driveway.

"Oh, morning." Nata replied in surprise to see them aronud. "What is the occasion?"

"We got told by Edith that I should deliver this letter to him. Something important." He noted, as he handed over a envelope that was surprisingly thick. "And I hope good recovery to you three. You guys went through... a lot."

"Thanks." Nata happily said, as the interaction was kept short, with the envelope with her, Ingolf went off to continue his work as a Tamer.

With front door closed, she put the envelope on the living room table, before returning to bedroom only to taking note of Olivia sleeping with Hiroshi, as she felt jealousy starting to bubbling back out, only to get slapped down by her conciousness, as it was for his health, not something she is trying to do, she headed to make some breakfast

As Olivia was slowly waking up, and with Hiroshi put on the wheelchair, house got more active.

Olivia went to prepare coffee, Nata finishing up with breakfast and making sure dirty clothes went into wash, as Hiroshi checked out the envelope.

Opening the letter, he got surprised, as he got to see his first paycheck, with a handwritten letter.

"Hello, this paycheck is coming little early, However, due to unforeseen consequences, I feel you have earned it early. Just don't go spending it all at once -Edith"

'that's thoughtful of her' Hiroshi considered, before taking note it continued.

"P.S. I took small part to repay the phone Nata broke. -Katariina"

'...well, that sucks.' he considered, before deciding to count the amount he got.

He could feel his jaw nearly drop, as he was finishing up.

He nearly got a whole 6k for just three weeks, and it payed off for everything that he has gone through that month, coming month with food, and even put good amount into savings.

'Maybe... this isn't that bad after all.' He finally thought to himself, feeling his regrets washing away, before carefully putting the cash into the envelope and making sure it was on a save spot on the table until he could go and deposit it.

With it, things returned to calm time, as after breakfast and some house cleaning finished, they enjoyed their time.

Olivia kept learning with Hiroshi's assistance, while Nata enjoyed gaming, as time to time they enjoyed time together by watching shows, movies or just having fun playing together.

As saturday came, Hiroshi had recovered somewhat, able to stand, but still unable to fully walk, as they went out for some shopping.

First, They made their way to the bank, so Hiroshi could deposit majority of the paycheck.

Second thing on the list was for Hiroshi to get his own phone back in order, and just to keep save, getting an other cheap phone just so Olivia and Nata had their own ones for emergency.

And lastly, they had some grocery shopping to do, thankfully it was less than usual and with wheelchair, some stuff was easier to carry for them.

On the way home, things were seeming to go well, but Hiroshi could feel the old worries start to spark again, and why should he think they were fully gone.

But this time it also felt weirdly different, as he felt a small whisper in his ear, that he wasn't fully able to recognize.

Yet his attention was taken away from it, as he could note as they were going by the station, two familiar faces were spotted.

Julia and Kat, both talking, and to Hiroshi's surprise, Julia wasn't in restraints, and more like about to let go, as Kat spotted the trio coming by.

"I brought him as you asked me!" Nata happily said, taking both Hiroshi and Olivia by surprise.

"Wait, what is going on?" Hiroshi asked, clearly uncomfortable with what could be the implication.

Kat calmly took steps forward, as he could hear her talons clearly, knawing at his discomforts at the moment. "Oh, I thought Nata would have already told you. Julia wanted to be your... security guard, by her words."

"Well, more as we both owe each other, and I had option on jailtime or community work, so I chose to be your guardian, and as you can see..." Julia elaborated.

"I see." Hiroshi noted, but seeing there was enough trust between them for now, he couldn't much deny it. "At least if it gets some work off of Olivia and Nata, I don't mind."

"Absolutely." Julia noted, as she gave a wink to Kat, who returned it, before leaving them be.

"Just call us when you are healthy, so we can contact you on emergency." Kat informed, before disappearing into the station.

Even when things may have calmed down, his misfortune still giving more to deal with, as even if she didn't say it, he already knew it, he had third foster to take care of.
