The roar of the skyfury dragon was so loud that it practically shook the ground beneath Blair’s feet. Then, with a large flap of its wings, it sent out an enormous gust of wind so powerful that it was enough to uproot several small trees from nearby.
Blair quickly reacted by casting “Guardian Aegis”, a defensive spell that conjured a teal ethereal disc-shaped barrier in front of her as well as stabilizing her to the ground. Against any other person, that gust of wind would have certainly blown them off their feet. However, despite having her robes flutter violently against the wind, the blue-haired sorceress remained firmly locked in her current position.
Once the strong gust of wind had passed, Blair began her counter-attack by casting another spell known as “Asteroid Rain”. This summoned a cataclysmic shower of asteroids from the sky above that all rained down upon the dragon.
The flying beast roared in surprise as it attempted to maneuver away from the incoming rain of falling rocks, rolling and swerving in the air with majestic grace. On occasion, the twist of its wings were able to create sharp currents of air that cut and smashed through some of the asteroids that tried to collide with its body, demolishing them into rocky dust.
However, the dragon couldn’t avoid all of the asteroids that fell towards it as some of them were able to do enough damage to slightly weaken its flight, forcing it to ground itself in front of the sorceress. Now, the dragon was exactly where Blair had wanted it to be. By forcing it to land, she was able to take away one of the dragon’s most prominent strengths, which was its aerial maneuverability. On the ground, the dragon might as well be a sitting duck, which was perfect for the blue-haired sorceress’s next attack.

First, Blair cast “Magic Sigil”, creating a glowing blue circular sigil on the ground—one that’s roughly 10 meters in diameter. With the sigil in place, anyone standing within it would receive a 50% increase in magical damage to their spells for the next 10 seconds. This would pair perfectly with her other spell, “Supernova Beam”. Raising her staff at eye level, she aligned it toward the target in front of her. Then, a massive swirling of teal light began congregating into a large orb of energy right at the tip of that staff.
As soon as the spell was done charging, it released a colossal beam of torrential teal energy that cut through the air in a straight line before crashing into the skyfury dragon with heaven-shattering force. The beam of energy was so bright that it illuminated the sky above with the brilliance of a thousand lightning bolts.
The dragon roared in agonizing pain as it took the hit directly, the force of the beam shearing off its scales, flesh, and bones with each passing second. Meanwhile, Blair strained from the immense recoil of the spell’s power, her feet digging into the soil of ground as they inched backwards.
Once the beam had exhausted itself, the dragon collapsed to the ground in a loud thump, a sizable hole carved through its very heart. Gradually, the large reptilian body began evaporating into glowing pink dust until all it left behind were five star runes.
Blair walked up to the bundle of runes and picked one up for herself, regarding the stone in her hand with a stoic and unreadable expression. The sorceress was not one to celebrate early. In fact, she was not one to celebrate at all. She only did what was expected of her. True celebration should only come once she’d won the entire Pentacle Trial. And right now, there was still a long road ahead of her.
