Chapter 33

I feel like I have been stuck in a circle for the past couple of days, since there isn’t really much I could do since I upgraded Terra. He has definitly been more real ever since I named him, but that hasn’t meant much else since he didn’t really do much. Granted there isn’t much to do since all I have is my caves and a forge that can’t even start up without a fire. Frankly, it has been rather boring and the fact no one has visited since the little Wyvern mess hasn’t helped. Most of my time has been primarily focused on working on the little castle I have been building up, and making sure I have the borders of the woods figured out. I don’t want the full woods but I also don’t want a small portion so I have been feeling out a rough boarder size.

Most of the work on the castle has been strategic weathering and just getting the look perfect, since there is a lot that can be done. Most of it is carving inlays into the stones of the halls and figuring out where I could hang tapestries once I get the whole thread thing figured out. I really wish I had a way to make something that spun webs or thread of some kind right now, I feel like I am just waiting on that. But what can I do, waiting is all I have on hand and that seems to be one of the strengths of a dungeon. As far as I can tell I literally have all the time in the world if I manage to keep myself from being killed.

That kind of immortality is a little off putting actually, I have nothing to maintain to keep going, and I have no one to really talk to. Sure Elisa and The other Heir are technically immortal but I would hardly call either conversation partners. Elisa is too busy figuring out her new form and continuing to study random objects around the dungeon, and the Armor is a bit too angry right now to be any good. Terra maybe could become a good conversationalist but that is entirely up to him at this point. I don’t know what it is but the creation of the core seems to have loosened our connection. It’s less master servent and more akin to a boss and employee now, the power dynamic still isn’t equal but now he is on better footing.

I take a sigh and turn from my castle project to the forge again, setting this up is high on my list of tasks. Fire is important but also making the blacksmith or forge master, whatever it ends up being, is also really important to make. So I have been working slowly to carve out a body for this smith, aiming for something that can both work delicately and more forcefully. This creature is aiming to be more centipedel but with a bit of inspiration from that Naga that came through aswell. So there is the segmented many legged insectoid bottom half that towards where the head would be starts the transition. The hard part has been getting that transition to work as I need it to be since it is really hard to make it work. Getting it to work well is being problematic cause it doesn’t want to stick together and not collapse in on itself. The stone is just not good for what I want to make but I can’t really think of a way to make it better.

A part of me understands that it’s because of how complex the creation is compared to my other ones. But another part of me is getting increasingly frustrated as they all fail in different ways, most collapse, a few shattered, one imploded which was rather confusing, all failures. Trying to think through what would be a good medium for my ideas but there isn’t much coming to mind short of metal. But I need my smith to form the metal and I can’t find a stone to use to make the smith to make the metal. Why is this problem so circular? Gods this was starting to get annoying, for now I just have to work with the simple stuff, and worry about the complexities later. I do give in a little and for now just form a simple construct that has a large stone hammer hand and a manipulator arm. It’s bipedal and just very much a normal humanoid aside from the hammer hand, and I don’t entend to keep it around as is for too long after I get a better grasp of construction.

As I finish up something catches my attention, a familiar feeling as I whip my view away from my forge and towards the forest. Deep in the forest, just entering my territory from the direction of the town was a small group of scaled figures. They where shorter then the dragonkin that came by before, in fact I would put them about as tall as the halfling I saw not too long ago now. My mind instantly swept to that time honored fantasy tradition of Kobolds, and I squinted since if they where here that meant the dragon dungeon. I felt a bit of annoyance flare up about this but I don’t intend to start off on a rude foot, since that is the opposite of how this should go. Let them make fools of themselves first and set the tone of the conversation. God I hope this works out well, cause I have had too much bullshit this week.
