Chapter 2

I did not choose that one, I absolutely didn’t so why in the nine is it here, especially since it clearly only prompted me for two of them. This whole thing is broken and I frankly don’t know what to make of it and it hurts to really think too hard about it so I kinda just wanna ignore it. But it feels wrong to just ignore it since it imposed itself on me like that without warning. All I can do really is sigh and move onto the next thing I need to worry about, mostly to ignore the headache this thing is giving me.

Right then better to turn my attention to the next thing, [Skills]

  Identification: (intrinsic)

  [UNKNOWN]

This simple ability allows you to use mana to understand what something is

That was it, nothing, a simple description, and nothing on how to use it aside from mana, I am not even sure I use it since I have…..i think it’s called [Aether] or something like that. Well I used it earlier so it must obviously work, so it doesn’t help to think about it too much, I would rather stave off the headache. A deep sigh reverberates through my non self as I move on to actually choosing some of these [Skills] and figure out everything I can do. So I begin to focus on them and they begin clarifying the choices I have.

  Burr-

My mind is interrupted, as a few figures step into the graveyard and my attention is drawn to them like a moth. There where three people, entering the graveyard, each one packing what appeared to be some slandered fantasy gear, which definitely told me a lot of where I was right now. They where talking about something but I couldn’t really understand what they where saying, it all sounded wrong in many different ways but I really couldn’t put a non existant finger on it. So I focused on the sound of what they where saying and really tried to understand, as my energy slightly depleted as things started to sound right. “-this place certainly feels like a new one, graveyard means it is going to be rough though” the man with a bow spoke, he was covered in animal hides and small tools that I could tell where for hunting.

“well that does suck a little it just means we have to be ready right? The usual stuff for these places isn’t too expensive anyway.”

The woman in the center spoke, she had a robe on with fingers filled with rings, each one seemed to glow with a strange power.

“Yeah but there are some really problematic things that could come out of it and for very few benefits.”

the last on spoke, and he was the oddest of the bunch, scales from head to tail, which he had, he reminded me of a lizard, and he carried a spear and shield though was lightly armored for what appeared to be a front line kind of fighter.

The man with a bow nodded but they continued to move without much hesitancy through my graveyard. I could feel their eyes gazing across headstones and barren dirt, sharp and attentive, waiting for something that I knew would never happen. As they moved I felt a pull on my essance as they moved towards the small gem, like something would happen if I didn’t stop them from getting closer to it. I felt an energy well up in me but there was nowhere for it to go.

The scaled man stopped and squinted as his gaze traveled over everything.

“it’s nervous, but I don’t see any monsters.” Yeah I am and I am rather surprised it took you this long to catch on. The three begin slowly loosening their postures and really looking around.

“did we catch one before it was even ready?”

The Mage? Mage is definitely what I would call her, spoke as she turned to her comrades.

  “this could be an opportunity”

the ranger spoke, a small smile dancing on his lips as a glint entered his eye.

“or we could get rid of it before it is a problem”

the Lizard man spoke with not a small amount of contempt, either to his companions or to me I couldn’t tell at this point.

“a graveyard dungeon is bound to become full of undead and diseases, even if they didn’t alight with death magic.”

The other two share glances and seem to be contemplating this fact as I feel more and more of a pull to do something. Something in me begins to focus as I pull on the power with this instinctual desire to protect myself.

Something begins to form behind the mage as I feel the energy flow, it is a chaotic mass of desperation and has no real complete form but all that really matters is that this thing might be able to fight. As it forms the lizard man moves quickly to shove his friends out of the way screaming

  “watch out!”

The creature lashes towards the lizard man with an unformed arm, smashing it on his shield as it breaks apart across the shield.

“WHAT IN THE HELLS IS THAT!?” The ranger screams in raw confusion as he draws his bow back. With a practice coordination the three begin a battle with this aberration of a creation. The three move in unison as the lizard man keeps the…….creature’s attention with probing stabs and quick dodges to keep just within range for his strikes. The ranger was waiting with an arrow ready to be drawn when a moment proved himself, the moment of panic from earlier was gone as his training took over. The mage was the oddest one, she was mumbling under her breath and I could feel things shifting, It isn’t quite an incantation though, it sounds more like her keeping her nerves in check.

Whatever the meaning I could feel the creature’s energy fading fast before they even really struck it with more then the probing strikes. The three seemed confused by this as the creature crumbled away like a malformed sandcastle before there eyes, and before they could really strike it with any real force.
