The Introduction 12 : The Land Of Instincts

"Uncle, congratulations; you now stand a fighting chance against the weakest creature in this land." The voice of the serpent echoed in Skylar's mind while he lay on a large platform similar to a bench.

Inside a bigger chamber that seemed to be made from marble; a chamber similar to the one he just break out from, but clearly larger. A chamber with a plain white ceiling that has at its center, stuck to it, a very large orange flower that looks like a giant sunflower which is the source of a cool orange light that illuminates the four corners of the room and its floor about a hundred and twenty meters below it. It was this 120 meters long and wide chamber that has vivid patterns and clear pictures of fantasy creatures engraved on three of its white walls that Skylar entered as he exit the one the serpent informed him to escape from. And its fourth wall which is made from a transparent glass material—serving as a screen that display the view on its other side—is what he is looking through as he rested his exhausted body on the white polished stone bench. Something he has been doing since he escaped the previous chamber that was turned to a trap supposed to help him overcome the unusual intense gravity of the region they are by the green serpent.

"Bitch... What next are you up to?" Skylar ignored the rather insulting comment of the green serpent who is somewhere outside the room, asking with a voice that expresses his listlessness.

"Uncle, so you know something is next. Wow! So smart. At this rate, I might soon become your baby factory." The serpent replied sarcastically, her seductive voice instinctively rising a level in potency.

"Bitch... Just let's get to it already." Skylar replied, clearly annoyed and his annoyance is probably stems from the subtle arousal effect of her seductive voice on his being.

"Uncle don't be in a hurry. You have to rest and replenish your energy first at this rate." The seductive voice of the serpent echoed softly in his agitated mind, soothing it.

"Okay. Can you just let me know what's next, so I can prepare?" less agitated, Skylar asked with a softer voice.

"Okay... there is no harm in telling you at this rate, so listen uncle. You see, this place is a place made for special creatures like you to unleash your bestial instinct; we have a place where you kill one another to earn special rights..."

"Wait, stop. What do you mean by special?" With a raised voice, Skylar interrupted the serpent.

"Its just like you heard, special." Matter-of-factly, the serpent replied.

"To let you know, I am not special at all" Skylar informed her, sounding uncertain about his claim.

"I know... At this rate, you are beyond special." The serpent with a sweet chuckle replied his comment.

"Fuck! Don't you get it? I don't have a bestial instinct or anything, I just want to leave here already" Skylar raised his voice in annoyance, expressing his wish to the serpent.

"Uncle, you see... that's not up to me. This lair belongs to the wolf brothers, and I just happen to be a mere manager here. So at this rate, I don't have the right and capability to let you out of here." Her voice in his mind laced with feigned self-mockery and sadness, the serpent replied.

Bitch... I know she will never let me go, why act like she really want to help?... Skylar who saw through the serpent's guise thought to himself, making sure the serpent won't pick it.

"Can't you just sneak me out." He asked pleadingly.

"That...! I can't at this rate." The serpent responded, the veracity of her words unknown. "Like I already said, I lack the capability, and my boss that brought you here expects to see you on the arena..."

"Okay what's the killing stuff and bestial instinct about." Swallowing his boiling anger, Skylar asked.

"Oh, its simple. At this rate, we just let you guys loose in the arena, and all you do is slaughter one another in a limited time—"

"Wait... You mean we try to survive by not getting killed by the others for a set duration?" Suddenly sitting upright with his face expressing a mixture of shock and disgust, Skylar asked.

"Something similar" The serpent replied, her voice sounding like she's trying not to give him a clear answer.

"Okay, what do you guys gain from this." Regaining his calm, as he returned to his lying position on the stone bench platform, Skylar asked softly.

"Like I said, I am just a mere manager who is getting paid by the owners, the wolfs. I am an insignificant poor creature." Sounding pitiful, the serpent replied.

"Okay. What do the wolfs gain?" Understanding her ploy to shift responsibility, Skylar asked.

"Its simple... they gamble... drink, and enjoy the show. Its simply a party time for them. And at this rate, we can just say they enjoy the carnage." With obvious blatant embellishments targeted to paint the wolfs as some very evil creatures, the serpent replied.

"So this place is like an illegal gambling den?" Skylar catching a hint of the situation asked probingly.

"Mmph... at this rate, something like that." The serpent replied, her feigned voice showing a hint of anger.

He is quiet smart or very smart, but at the same time he might be very lazy when it comes to properly utilizing his head... The serpent thought to herself, taking a mental note.

"Fuck them! So they kidnap poor creatures like us and watch us kill one another while they feel good?" With clear irritation in his voice, Skylar commented, shouting.

He might even be faking all his reaction... Is he trying to get useful information from me by making me slip up?... Then he is not just smart, he is also very shrewd... Got to note that too... The serpent thought, adding to her mental note.

"But uncle... don't you want to fight and drown yourself in blood? Most creatures in the arena enjoy the slaughter. And at this rate, its also a win-win situation for you... right? A perfect opportunity to improve and strengthen yourself." The serpent transmitted her words coated with persuasion to his mind as usual.

"Do I look like someone who wants to engage in a meaningless slaughter?" With a side-eye, Skylar replied. He continued, "Just when will I be thrown in this arena thing?"

"There is a process to that. And at this rate, you have to take a qualification trial first." Chuckling, the serpent replied.

"Wait, you mean I have to take a test before I can be thrown into some land of death where I will become a spectacle for some psychopaths." Suddenly sitting upright again and clearly bewildered, Skylar questioned.

"Yes, so rest well uncle, I will be back." The serpent answered, and then her presence coming from somewhere outside the room vanished from Skylar's radar.

  ...

  After about few hours.

From a door shaped opening that formed magically on the wall facing the transparent screen wall—a wall behind Skylar which then opened up right after; one of the two giant white snakes that escorted Skylar previously entered the room with an ancient clay bowl and jug on her back.

"Uncle eat the fruits. They are good for your body. And please follow her after you are done; she will take you to the trial ground." The serpent instructing voice—hasty and fleeting—echoed in Skylar's mind like it floated from afar.

  "Hey! Bitch!! Wait..."

He tried gaining his attention but to no avail.

"She's gone." He muttered. Then he turned to the very attractive giant snake with a pure white glossy skin, two big white horns and a pair of very attractive honey brown slit eyes which seem to hide a playful and mischievous glint.

The white giant snake acting clumsily and nervously probably confused on how to approach the enigmatic creature in front of it proceeded only after calming her nerves—carefully with telekinesis placing the bowl and jug on the large bench in front of the sitting Skylar who has been scrutinizing her for a while.

There are clearly two of them... Are they twins? They should be females probably... They are very beautiful... Skylar thought to himself before he turned his attention to the delicacy in front of him.

Meanwhile, the white giant snake in front of him bowed her head lightly with a clear sign of hesitation and confusion before moving to a corner in the room far away from Skylar.

And Skylar who watched everything as it unfolded chuckled—expressing his utter bemusement.

What's wrong with this snake? Maybe she misses mummy, poor creature... that bitch and her wolf gang must have kidnapped her too and might be forcing her to do dirty stuffs...

Joking in his mind, Skylar looked at the white snake that is watching him with a feigned expression of pity before he returned his attention to the delicacy in front of him.
